Just recently raised my rates and wanted to know if I give my previous clients thier old rates or should I let them know that I have new rates before scheduling something?

That decision is totally yours but from a client point of view, at least for the first visit I would keep the same price and at that visit I would inform the client that the rates are going up for the next visit.  I think you will lose a few clients but better for them not to call after that first visit rather then put them in an awkward position on the phone.  If the provider told me his rates went up on the phone or by text, I would be more inclined to not hire, not because of the money but because of the lack of respect for previous visits.  After the first one, face to face, and then let the client decide if he likes you enough to pay the extra freight charge.

I recently experienced a 50% price increase from two of my service providers: a young Russian escort and my tailor. I wasn't happy about it, especially regarding the tailor. 😅

I guess it depends on how well your tailor measures your inside leg?

When I increase my prices I update them on my website and inform regulars when they book. No one has complained. People expect things to go up: prices, cocks and things going up their hole. It’s normal.

I think having it on a website makes it less personal,  so less likely to offend. I think part of the problem with raising prices for a regular is two-fold.  First, a regular is often someone you give a discount to, not jack up the price for. Second, the illusion that this is something your provider is also enjoying is blown. Sure, you are paying, but you want to be in the mindset that even though you are paying, the provider is into it. Very tough to maintain that illusion when he tells you that in order to continue being intimate with you, you'll need to start paying more. Tough not to take that personally.  For massage, it might be ok, but for other intimacy, I think I might be inclined to move on to another provider.

I understand why you say this but I think it reveals a misunderstanding about the work:
I never discount for anyone, including regulars. It’s simple that way and they don’t get mixed messages. It’s an important rule that most experienced and successful providers will follow. It’s your work and your income, and as such you take it very seriously (be punctual, sober, client focused etc). That approach actually makes for a better experience for the client than someone who is monetising their sex life and charging different amounts depending on how much they like the client. Those guys tend to be flaky with arrangements and have lots of things they won’t do. Not a good experience.

Just because money is exchanged doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying it. Again it comes to a professional approach vs someone just trying to earn from their sex life. It’s not easy doing sex work properly so you need to enjoy it to be able to do it sustainably. The money is for being available when the client wants (within reason), for your experience and expertise and for your focus on the client. It’s not ‘compensation’ for having to have sex with someone you’re not enjoying.

Posting new rates on your website wouldn't work for me because I never check it for providers I already see regularly. I simply text them directly when I want to book.

I prefer to be told in advance, BEFORE I'm scheduling my next appointment. A quick text saying, "Starting on X date, my new rates will be..." is perfectly fine. Even better, let me know in person at the end of a session while the current rates still apply.

What I don't appreciate is finding out only when I'm trying to book. If that's when you decide to tell me the rates have gone up, my automatic response is likely to be, "Good luck with that."

You have every right to raise your prices whenever you want. But if you want to keep me as a client, give me a heads-up instead of surprising me at booking time. It's a simple courtesy.

I agree with @JamesB I prefer to be told in advance, before scheduling the next appointment.  Everything has gone up and you need cover your expenses and make ends meet.  I actually manage pricing in career and as long as a client thinks they are receiving value, most clients should be fine. I've had providers tell me their rates were increasing as of some date in the future and I, personally, was ok with it. I appreciated the head's up as I tend to pay in cash and want to make sure I have enough to cover fees and tips.

That however depends; how often is the regular happening? I don’t know if sending a randomized text announcing a rate increase would fair any better with clients tbh.

Some regulars may come around every week (rare in this super saturated market these days), some every month, some couple times a year, some may only come around every once in a blue with no regular schedule. So if I haven’t seen someone in 2+ months, it may not even be appropriate to do that.

And as I’ve said in another post: some people’s rates may go up due to factors like fewer clients. I know for me, I don’t want to go book a $100-$150 hotel if I’m only getting offered $200/250 and 1 client shows up.

So I now have to push for more just to actually see 250 after the travel I do and possibly hotel room as well.

I’ve been going to a few lads for some years now, and one of which I know has increased his price however he still charges me the same price he’s charged from day one. So I assume cause I’ve been quite a loyal client he has kept his rate the same for me. And the other recently told me he would need to increase his price on our next visit which I accepted.

Just saw this.  In over 20 years of working I only raised my rate 4 times.  In the very beginning from $800 to $1000 for an overnight (not long after that I had to stop doing overnights after my Partner requested it) and hourly in the beginning from $200 to $220 and then, after many many many years, $220 to $250. Lastly, my massage rate was a very very low $85 for a very very long time, I was undercutting everyone and I was also a very good masseur.  I never loved massage the way I loved escorting, so I raised it to $140, hoping that was close enough to $220 for most/many to choose escorting instead.

In each of those cases I never raised the rates on those men I'd been seeing for a long time and especially not those I saw regularly.  As much as your regulars love you, they have complicated lives and a small increase anyone can afford may be what they rationalize to stop hiring..  Best to stay consistent if you want to keep them.  That was just my approach.

I recently had a masseur who I saw regularly for 2 years at least twice a month and sometimes more. He would give me a slightly discounted rate and would allow extras. Recently I was told I would have to pay higher rate and extras wouldn't be allowed in the future. I was disappointed my loyalty wasn't considered. But I respect his decision.  Just sad I probably won't visit again.

I understand his raising his rates, if dictated by circumstances, but not the curtailing of extras. If I was a businessman, I wouldn’t conflate the two. Probably not the result he intended.

Exactly, I agree. I asked if I could pay the higher rates and if some extras would be allowed. Said no. So a higher rate with less perks. Unfortunately was one of my favorites and why I visited so often. The search for a new regular has begun

I'd perceive 1 of these 2 changes alone as an insult to your loyalty.  After all, your at-least-twice-a-month visits for 2 years have generated a substantial and steady income stream for him.  And now he's hitting you with a double whammy?  And says NO to your attempt at negotiations?  There's no quicker way to burn a bridge.  I guess he probably has too much business and doesn't mind losing yours.

Don't wright him off forever.

I had a masseur I visited "regularly" on my annual trips to his city.  One year, when I inquired about his availability for my upcoming trip, he told me that sensual elements would no longer be offered because he was in a relationship.  I thanked him, but told him I'll pass but wished him the best.

Fast forward a few years, and I reached out to him in advance of one of my trips and lo and behold he was back to offering sensual elements again.  He's been my "regular" again on every annual trip to his city.

So, you may want to reach out to him in a year and see if he's offering sensual massage again at that time.

Me too. With a regular, I'm paying for continuity. I know he's an actor playing a role. But to keep me coming back he needs to stay in character. Destroy the fantasy... full reset.

So what's an actor to do in these times of inflation? Assess the value of a secure income stream. Diversify: high prices for new customers, steady prices for regulars. We're the reliable return on your past investment in building the business. And some of us (ahem) will make it up in bonuses.

I had a regular BFE guy in NY I flew regularly and we had overnights constantly, probably made 45k last year easily tell me he wanted to start wearing condoms in our bookings. I was confused as I had all my vaccines/prep/doxy and haven't had an STI in 2 years and I asked him if it was something temporary (maybe he was clearing something) but he said no. I told him that wasn't going to work for me, to reach out if things ever changed and wished him the best.

We all set up boundaries in our interactions and it's on us to respect each other's and walk away when they're a mismatch.

Oh and with my regulars we have a set rate, what changes is the time I book with them and that's kept them from raising them on me at least. They know I tend to book multiple hours so they're OK with keeping the rate and get a longer booking.
