November 11th is a day observed in the Commonwealth countries including Canada to remember and honour those who have fought and died in all the wars of the 20th century. The remaining veterans show up to help celebrate the day but apart from the conflicts in the 21st century, those who are still around from WWII are few.
We have one here in my town who just turned 100. He trained for the Second War but fought in Korea.
I suppose Memorial Day commemorates those soldiers who participated in on the Revolution, the Spanish American War, the Civil War, the Vietnam War, etc. These are wars particular to America. I see the need to have a separate day for observation of their sacrifices.
