It seems like more and more of the guys are raising their rates from the standard 300 to 400?  Has anyone else experienced this with their regulars? Is this the new norm ?

I generally don't hire escorts in NYC unless I see someone particularly delicious passing through. So no "regulars" to report on, raising rates...but I have consistently had several newbies quote me $ 300 for something as simple as an erotic massage and $ 500 for "full service".  So $ 400 does indeed seem to be the median for hotties visiting NYC.

Interesting thing about price points.   Once you hit them the whole business starts to decline.  Look at what's happening too restaurants.  Price points reached a level that diners have said enough and restaurant business is in decline, with record numbers of closures.  There will always be luxury items and places, but you can't market Target as Tiffany.

Interesting thing about cocks… the real luxury isn’t size, it’s when the guy knows how to use it. That’s Tiffany-level service.

The saying "It ain't the meat, it's the motion" is not a Bette Midler quote, although it is a line she might deliver in her signature comedic, bawdy style

. The phrase is the title of a song popularized by another female singer, Maria Muldaur.

Unfortunately, they have more than enough people paying those rates that they don't need to lower them. Otherwise i feel like they would have already.

Curious if providers from cultures where negotiating on rates might be more common than in the US are quoting these higher rates with the expectation that some clients will readily agree, while others might nudge them lower, and either way the provider receives a feasible rate?

Possibly, who knows. I've personally never met any providers who negotiate rate. They've all been take it or leave it rates mostly. I've hired some where you negotiate what you'll do in the session for what rate, but not the rate it self. Like i've negotiated "ok we could do ABC for 200" and they'll be like "ooo no i usually need more for that, but we could do XYZ for 200 instead". But i've never had a provider say "full service is 400" and then i go "but can ya do it for 300?" and they say yes lol. Though to be fair, I've also never tried cause i just operate under the assumption all rates are take it or leave it unless a discount/deal is offered to me (which has happened before).

Am I the only client who sees this hobby as a tertier needs. In a way that I only partake when I have extra fun funds enough to afford a provider who I fancied. When purse is tight or price is too high, I simply go look for free fun or look for other provider within my budget. Same when I budget for vacation. When Four Seasons or first class seat are out of my budget, I go for cheaper option.

As someone who works in service, customer who ask for a discount but expect high quality service in return is an ick. People gotta eat and make a living.

I'm sure we all do, but also. Even fun things, it sucks when they become unaffordable. So it's not unfathomable that people would complain about rising rates. But for the totally valid reasons you said, that doesn't mean providers raising their rates is wrong. Their bills and fun are all going up in price just the same as it is for us. It's all ultimately a larger issue of society as a whole becoming more and more unaffordable for everyone and it hits everyone on both sides of any transaction.

In Chicago that's exactly what I did. Some new young Latino said 400. I said, sorry, my limits are 300/500 for 1/2 hours. He immediately accepted my 2 hour rate. Great performance and he wants more hires.

The more I'm here, the more glad I am I don't live in NYC. Kids here hear about those prices and think they can get them here. Cute.

If money is tight, I do without and I console myself with that saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

I’m seeing $400 in Seattle and other affluent metros, too. My private stock is less, and three in particular are deeply attuned and in sync with my roleplay scenarios. That said, hot twinks at $400 aren’t that unusual, and if they’re into it, I’m willing. When they get to $500+ I demur.

Demurstibation is the new shrinkflation.
