Placing personal responsibility front and center, and from where it would least be expected

Wow, impressive article, I applaud the Blade and the author.
It was balanced, restrained, non-judgmental and gave good realistic advice.

My favorite line though….

"“Get the fuck out of here you old freak,” said a trans woman who was watching
a group of 4 engaged in group sex near the children’s slide on the western side
of the park."

Brilliant shade.

Among the friends I shared the article with, the same response.... Favorite for sure 😂😂

In the interests of taking what we can get even from very small bodies of research, and applying it, a small safety/immunogenicity study of MVA-BN in eczema subjects and controls (N=60) a few years ago suggests waiting a bit longer than 2 weeks following 1st dose. For a small percentage, no difference among subgroups, the humoral immunity standard occurred some time after, maybe not 4 weeks needed but >2 weeks. No seroconversion testing between Day14 and Day28.

Add this caveat to likely less than 100% efficacy even with seroconversion.

I meant to crop out the 2nd paragraph in the screenshot; it’s unrelated to this post.

I called Dallas county (Dallas, TX). They said they are only giving vaccines to the people who have come incontact with mpox positive person.

Where should I try next?

LA County Public Health has several POD (Point of Dispensing) clinics where you can walk in without an appointment. Only prerequisite is that you should be on PreP.

But they do request ID, so I assume they also look for residency?

A STI clinic? In your local DoH? Or a neighbor city DOH?

A couple, friends of mine, went  for a routine STI screening, to a  NYC STI clinic /Sexual Health Clinic; both of them were offered and got the vaccine.

Wondering if escort biz is down due to Monkey Pox concerns.  As an occasional consumer I’m def more concerned about hooking up with someone who is likely a volume player.  And on the escort side have to believe some are concerned about anon partners status.  I know it’s less of a concern than HIV but there are ways to avoid that - condoms etc

what do you think ?

I'll try calling them tomorrow. But I doubt they will have it.

@BenjaminNicholas are you in Dallas area? I might have missed the post here if you have already gotten the vaccine. If yes, where did you go?

I was finally getting back into the swing of things - after the long desert that was the last 2+ years - both IRL and with this hobby. Of course the pox rears it’s head! 😤

I’ve been up and down with putting a pause on this hobby, but after a chat with a good friend who is a doctor, regretfully I have indeed pressed the pause button.

I had been in communication with a visiting provider regarding an engagement this Friday or Saturday, but I messaged him my concerns, and regrets for having to cancel - even tho he’s vaxxed. Thankfully he was very understanding, said I’m not the only one, assured he won’t think of me as a flake (I said something about not flaking, just worried).

I have my first jab on Sunday, so hopefully he’ll be back - hell - I’ll even go to him once fully vaxxed! 😜

Benjamin posted on July 8 that he got his initial vaccination in Toronto. FYI

I got mine in Toronto last week.  Damn, Canada makes it easy (and friendly).

I'm setup to get my second dose in a few weeks back in San Antonio.

Even one dose provides solid immediate protection.

This afternoon, the organizer of two notable NYC sex parties (whose email list I subscribe to) sent out a message encouraging recipients to be vaccinated, and providing instructions how to do s0. This fits, as these parties often have on-site STI and HIV testing available and the messages often include information about sexual health..

But it was how he closed today's message that really caught my attention...
Getting vaccine to all of us who want to be vaccinated will take some time. I'm hoping the parties can return by October; we will see.

I’ve been trying to get an appointment through the NYC Health Dept. website for 3 days with no success. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all!
