I would be very cautious about trusting the reviews on CompanyofMen.org. Many of the user reviews appear to be inaccurate, slanderous, and not even based on real massage experiences. Instead of genuine feedback from actual clients, a number of posts read more like personal attacks or attempts to smear masseurs who otherwise have strong reputations.

It often feels as though some users are simply angry individuals with nothing better to do than post fictitious comments that stain and damage the reputation of professionals. When reviews focus on accusations or personal opinions rather than the quality of the massage service itself, it raises serious questions about the credibility of the platform.

Take what you read there with a grain of salt. The lack of verification makes it very easy for anyone to post misleading or defamatory statements that can unfairly harm someone’s livelihood. I would not rely on these reviews as a trustworthy source when deciding who to book with.

Everyone has their own opinion and interpretation of good, bad, therapeutic or sensual and everyone also has their own opinion on value, time and money spent.  Yes, there are some posts that have vastly different opinions…..and more, in my experience…even more where people are aligned…despite not knowing what I nor they perceive as good, bad, well spent or value.

It’s the same as a review on Yelp.  Lots of bad reviews from a restaurant from lots of people over a period of time….that’s probably not a good business to utilize.  Alternatively, several good or positive reviews with some negative mixed in leaves me weary of peoples expectations.

Using this site for perspectives and feedback is way more beneficial than the reviews on a providers page in my opinion.  If I remember correctly, on MasseurFinder….a client can’t post their own review…they have to send it to the provider to post…so what’s to say those aren’t altered?  Go ahead…try and find a “leave review” on their site…you can’t.  

On RentMasseur….you can post your own….only if you’re comfortable setting up an account and even though….the info can be redacted (look for all the ___) in a review or post so greater detail is not usually posted.  Hence why you’ll see people here even saying “Send DM” for more details if they don’t want to put it all out there online for everyone to see.

All reviews of any kind are to be taken with a grain of salt… the entire concept of Yelp is that people usually only go on there to leave a terrible or glowing review (some to speak of an experience they had, others who didn’t even have an experience); rarely a good or decent one.

I agree.. I was attacked on this site once... by a person who never used my service....  He went crazy on here beacuse I sent out an email about a construction in my place complained that I Misspelled one word....

I has not having it at all... attacked me for one misspelled word.. but never had my service... been doing this for 26yrs....

Moslty I see reviews on this site just saying about people is LOOKS / BODY ...but never seen people say about the massage expereice ,,table.. product used etc....

I've learned over the years that I'm often attracted to providers that others here find "difficult" lol.  If someone is labeled a bit odd, quirky, a jerk, overtly religious or political it peaks my interest.  So I read most reviews with a grain of salt.   Now if the clients complain about old photos, a funny smell, or that it's just a light rub and tug - I'll probably research a bit more.

My limited experience with this  forum is how accurate the reviews have been to my eventual experience. However, I usually discount or ignore deliberately negative reviews id they come across as attacks or too emotional. Beina sensitive to the OP, I think most people factor that in.

A negative review of an individual is different from a recommendation against automatically believing the reviews made on this website.

My thoughts are

 

1. If a therapist has inconsistent reviews with a 5+ sample size, then the experience is likely inconsistent and very YMMV. 

2. If a therapist is consistently highly recommended, then you’re more than likely going to consistently get a great experience from them. There are some therapist reviews with a lot of high marks from folks here. 
 

3. If a therapist is consistently receiving negative reviews, that is up to them to take that and make a better experience. 
 

I actually find the uncensored reviews here have been more helpful than Mf or RM reviews. 95% of the time when that a chance on a therapist providing an inconsistent experience, it’s usually what I get.

This is quite an interesting second post, especially considering your first one was a negative review of a masseur.

One man’s meat maybe another man’s poison. With over ? 10,000 registered CoM users we can expect different experiences and a wide range of opinions. I’ve validated enough reviews with my own experiences to respect and trust some reviewers implicitly and make future plans accordingly. I don’t think it’s reasonable to generalize conclusions to the whole site. I do appreciate OPs second post which is a candid review. I’m assuming that he hopes that we don’t follow his original advice.

There is a difference between someone with no history who shows up to bash or praise a provider. Not worth much on its own.

But if someone has a history of thoughtful posts, I very much appreciate the feedback. 

But I get it. My first post here a couple of years ago was about my first, not particularly good experience. I didn't have a reason to come back for quite a while,  so that review justifiably was not held with as much credibility as someone who posts multiple reviews of multiple guys,  good and bad.

Now that I have a little more experience and posts, I'd think someone would be pretty confident in my assessment.  So with anything, especially here, you can click on a name and see their posting history and judge the credibility for yourself.

I wouldn't say don't trust reviews on this site. If you've been on this site long enough you can see the posters who have an agenda and the ones generally trying to help others.

From long standing posters who frequently contribute information, I'm more apt to believe the review. New one time posters, who make one review and disappear... far less so.

As others have said take every review with a grain of salt. For one, just because one person has a great time with the provider, doesn't mean another will have the same experience. Second, I know some people on here post stuff I know not to be true. You just have to be able to discern what is useful and what is not... take a chance or let sleeping dogs lie.

So to speak directly to @Tomsell if this post about review trust is in reference to your issues you posted about your encounter with stonefruitnyc... again just because someone has a great time with a provider doesn't mean someone else will. Because you had a negative experience doesn't mean the other reviews aren't true. This site is useful but it can't guarantee you'll have a great or horrible encounter with a provider. It'll just give you a better idea of what could happen and who might be better fit with your desires.
