$500/Hour

I’m just trying To understand. I guess I’ve been out of the “scene” for a while since I’m finding myself very out of touch with the increases in donations. Whereas it was typical be quoted $250-$350, let’s say as recently as a couple years ago, it’s now guy after guy on rent.men asking for a minimum of $500/hour in NYC. I used to see that amount requested for time with a porn star. What’s happened/is happening? In like a year or so, it seems things have doubled.

This is a topic worth searching. The combo of inflation plus NYC being super-expensive is driving an uptick in prices. For me, I'm rarely willing to pay $500/hour. But I also notice that price point is more typical among young guys (early 20s to maybe early 30s). My preference is late 30s to early 40s. Unless they're a porn star, I find that those guys are charging $300-$350.

You would think with 39 pages of providers though, that's a lot of competition. I can also point out another anecdotal observation. There are a lot of NY providers going all the way across the country to find clients. Wouldn't a city the size of NY 9 million be enough to meet that demand?

I'm slowly moving away from this hobby anyway; especially after last night at the local sex club. The number of hot guys I encountered willing to give up their beautiful booty, deep kissing, oral, body contact, and just for the $20 entry price was astounding! It was like an all-you-can-eat buffet! I even saw some hot providers there giving it for free in the sling room and there were at least 200 men at the event. What that tells me is just as inflation is affecting these providers, so are the clients and they are willing to find other means to fulfill their needs. So, yeah, we might be beating a dead horse here, but we gotta call it out for what it is.

I haven’t visited NYC in a while, so how about some reference points?

I do recall that in 2019 I was routinely paying for dinner for two (good restaurant in Manhattan, 2-3 courses with wine and 20% gratuity) $240-300. And 5* hotel rooms in Manhattan were running at $500-700 a night. How much are those rates now?

And with this thread (and others on the topic of rates), I looked back at my email history. I dated in 2007 a very hot muscleboy, early 20s in LA was asking (and getting - he was versatile and in demand) $350 an hour and $1500 for a full overnight. Also in 2013/2014 I dated a gorgeous, muscled cover-model a couple of times; he asked for discretion and $600 an hour.

My point is that rates have always varied wildly…and now we have inflation in the mix.

Please tell us more about this club (location, frequency etc)

for fuck’s sake people. Inflation. Cost of living differences between locations. Supply and demand. No provider should give you a discount because you whine.

Inflation is not 40% which is about the increase from 350 to 500  And cost of living in NYC is tied to inflation so you are conflating that.  He is not asking for a discount, he merely is inquiring as to why the increase.  Supply and demand is not likely the case as there are just as many escorts in NYC as there were three years ago, perhaps more.  So the reason that the price has gone up is because some people are willing to pay that much.  He is not one of them for fuck's sake.  Perhaps you are and if so, bless your heart.

Inflation is high, in general, but not as high as many providers have made their rates -

Think about the current inflation rate for ordinary goods and services- roughly 8%

Think about the current provider inflation rate- (using rentmen as a guide) 25% to 50%.

It is ridiculous.

A topic that comes up 84234584366 times a year, there’s two current threads on the subject from both a provider and client’s perspective

Like others have said, cost of living has gone up. A provider increasing their rate reflects that, I don’t see the issue that’s exactly what they should do.

I’m currently in NY for the whole summer, my first extended stay since 2019, and it’s definitely a shock being quoted $350-500/hr by most of the guys I’ve reached out to so far. But that’s the landscape of a post-pandemic society in the USA.

It’s going to take time to mentally get “used to” that as long as I continue this fun hobby.

In the end people will have fo figure out ways to step their income up even more or get creative and finding guys on other platforms.

There's no economic rule that says rates and salaries have to go up when inflation goes up. In fact, it makes it harder to defeat inflation by doing so.

Supply and demand is all that matters. And in my neck of the woods at least, there's a lot of new young men adding themselves to the supply at much lower than 300/hour.

Having been reading posts here for the past few years, I've noticed there are always some providers who request a donation for their time that seems exorbitant to many on the forum.  While inflation may be part of the reason why a provider increases their donation amount, I think it goes beyond inflation or even supply and demand.  Somebody who is seeking a donation that is nearly twice the 'customary' amount, may be doing so to concentrate on clients with the deepest pockets.  Just like others who request a photo before seeing anyone, I imagine a provider can use their donation amount to filter prospective clients as well.

I think if we open a section in this forum for amateurs to advertise, the rates will come down. Due to RM, a few select ones who are better marketeers and commerce-oriented than service-oriented get unnecessary airtime and jack the prices up unreasonably.

SESTA etc laws won't allow us to open such a section, but the supply-side of the trade needs to improve.

In a comment above someone said the young ones are the ones quoting $500. As I age, I find many things expensive that some younger folks I know and who make much less than I do, don't. My price points seem to have fixated in early 2010s. That makes me wonder if the younger demographic of hobbyists (say 20s-40s) on this forum finds $500 expected price to pay to spend an hour with a provider you find attractive.

A nice one bedroom apartment in Manhattan in 2019 was averaging $ 4,000. Now in 2023, that same apartment is $ 5,000.

So if a provider is charging 25% more, he's just keeping up with the cost of inflation here.
