Genuine question here.

I just don't get all the posts about hiring a masseur and commenting if he tops, bottoms, suck, etc. Blows my mind that instead of going an escort, you'd rather go for a masseuse hoping it leads to sex.

It's like I wanna have my windows cleaned, but instead of hiring a window cleaner, I hire a guy to mow the grass, hoping he looks up and see me pointing at my window.

It's because it's what some/many masseurs offer in addition to their massage services. It's pretty simple.

It's more like eating at a restaurant that has breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and you get to pick what you want.

If RentMasseur was purely a therapeutic only massage site, they wouldn't bother to have providers be able to list HIV status as that's not relevant to purely therapeutic massage. It's there for a reason. And the "sensual" in sensual massage can mean whatever the client and provider agree for it to mean for a particular session.

I hire a guy to clean my windows three times per year, and he usually lets me blow him before he leaves.  However, whenever I hire an escort for sex, not one escort has offered to clean my windows before he leaves 😢

So when I want a massage, I hire a masseur, and we usually have sex also because that's the nature of human relationships.  The same with my plumber or HVAC technician:  they come over to do the work I need, and the sex is just a bonus.

I personally don’t find on demand paid sex interesting. I’ve only done it twice and both times were unsatisfactory to me even though both guys were exactly my physical type. A massage gets us to the same room together generally unclothed, so the big logistics hurdles are over. Then if two consenting adults want to go for it, it’s more exciting than an explicit sex transaction, at least for me.

If a masseur who has not committed to sex decides he actually wants to have sex with me, that’s a lot more fun in my book.

I just hired an escort from Rentmen.  He was noted in previous postings to give a so so massage but great extras.  Since I was only interested in the extras, I hired him as an escort and had a full hour of his sexual attention.  Foreplay consisted of pushing him against the wall and grinding him and then pushing him onto the bed.  If I had hired him as a masseuse, there would not be any guarantee of extras and even if there were, there would be the perfunctory massage, which was noted to be mediocre.  I spoke with him about this site afterwards and mentioned that I saw he also did massage.  I asked why he was now advertising on Rentmen.

He told me that he felt his massage was compromised by his uncertainty as to what the client expected.  There was the initial massage and then exactly how far did the client want to go.  As a result, he was concentrating on picking up subtle signs as to whether or not the client wanted more.  He did say some clients were straight forward about expectations, but that others were passive about it, which led him to be unsure as to how far to go.

I went for a massage a few months ago.  I wanted a therapeutic massage and told the provider that.  Nevertheless, within a few minutes, there was a naked hard cock in my face.  Well, it is impolite not to eat when offered a meal and so that was the road we travelled.  However, my back and shoulder were still sore when I left.

And if he does not?  Are you there for the massage only?

I agree with you here. I've NEVER booked a masseur with the intention to have sex, BUT if he initiates something more beyond the massage then that's great for me! There have been quite a few times when I truly expected to have an purely therapeutic massage but one thing leads to another. I've booked 90 minute massages that became something more and lasted 3 hours at no extra charge I might add. So yeah I'm happy to book with a masseur I find attractive, and if he finds me attractive to then I'm down to play.

I like to book massages, mostly via Rentmasseur, mainly because I really enjoy a good massage - therapeutic or otherwise.  If it is my first or even the second time meeting a new masseur, I go in without expectations and let the masseur take the initiative.  If he does take an initiative, I encourage it put don't push anything.  By letting the guy work his magic, it often goes well above and beyond what my expectations are.

My 3 regulars in NYC have known me for a few years in some cases.  We have a good understanding of how far the session will go <grin>

In all cases, I tip well.

Is non-reciprocal, skilled, sensual masturbation ... actually considered sex

It wasn't sex in the front seat of my mother's car when I was in high school. And it's not sex now that I can get laid 24/7 on an app.

It's just what they call it in the ads:  "stress relief".

For many guys sex happens too quickly. Guys rush to penetration, and then it’s over…all too fast. This could happen easily with an escort. Massage slows all of this down. Sensual massage is like choreographed foreplay, the build up of tension (including ‘will he fuck me? or will he let me fuck him?’) is part of the journey and the journey counts just as important as the destination. Good masseurs can have you absolutely begging for it after an hour 😉

Ok. So you all want a massage then. The massage is the trigger. Any of you ever approached them for sex only, no massage?

If he's good, clients don't have to beg😉 and if the massage lasts more then 40 seconds, well problem. So thanks for all the answers

Nope. It’s actually a turn off when a provider starts getting frisky too early in the massage. I want a therapeutic experience with a great massage and some sensual teasing throughout. It’s like a sensual form of foreplay that builds up to a climax at the end that is way better for me than a lot of regular sex when done right. And like many others mentioned it can be cheaper than an escort and for a better experience overall, it just works out well for a lot of us. But there’s something different out there for everyone, that’s the beauty of life - sensual massages aren’t for everyone.

I think a few people do it because they see it as a cheaper way to arrange sex. Sometimes it just happens naturally during the session. And I also think some people hire the masseur (as @Jamie21 mentioned) specifically because of that charged “will he or won’t he?” tension—honestly, that anticipation is a huge turn-on. If it goes further, amazing; if it doesn’t, they still get a great massage.

As for me…
I’m pretty new to hiring, and I mostly book sensual massage. In fact, most of my masseur hires have been strictly sensual/erotic—though there has been MT and HE with most of them, not all. With five different masseurs, it turned into something more: two got very close to sex, and three definitely crossed into sex.

I never went in trying to make it happen. Two of the masseurs actually told me directly that we had great chemistry, and that seemed to unlock things. Both times, we went further than just a massage right from the first meeting—and happened in every meetings thereafter. Neither of them asked for extra money, and both took the initiative.

One of the “very close to sex” masseurs has gotten more and more sexual over subsequent hires. And one of the “more than MT/HE” masseurs started with intensely sensual/erotic massages and then—eventually—turned into full-on bedroom activities.

exactly this. thanks for articulating it. the build up is the biggest dopamine hit.

I like the fantasy of a massage leading into some sex. It makes me feel "surprised." That's a great turn on.

@mikeyspark said it the best. Sorry, didn't see his post before I posted.
