HotFaceBud Posted Monday at 08:36 PM Posted Monday at 08:36 PM QUESTION for RENTMEN USERS, SPECIFICALLY CLIENTS: I don't have my number listed in my profile, but curious if that hinders me, or just screens the weirdos and freaks and spam? So, my question, how important (or not) is it that there is a phone number listed in someone you are considering...? Thanks in advance!
jackcali Posted Monday at 08:45 PM Posted Monday at 08:45 PM Client here. I tend to reach out to a potential hire a few days in advance and use the RM chat function to ask any questions about his ad (and ask to see private pics if he has them) and also to point him to my RM profile, which has a decent amount of information about me. That's easier than transmitting all that info via text. The issue, though, is that it sometimes takes an escort a few days to respond, by which time the window for hiring has passed. I'm guessing you won't get many same-day hires if you don't have a phone number. Good luck. HotFaceBud and thomas 1 1
mike carey Posted Monday at 09:58 PM Posted Monday at 09:58 PM I know there are differing opinions, but like @jackcali I tend to open any conversation in RM chat and move to other means if that becomes necessary. (Also, asking the question here will have generated traffic to your ad.) thomas, jackcali, HotFaceBud and 1 other 3 1
+ JamesB Posted Monday at 11:00 PM Posted Monday at 11:00 PM I usually prefer texting, simply because most providers respond faster there than through RM messages. That said, it wouldn’t stop me from reaching out to someone who only uses RM, unless I’m trying to set something up within the next 24 to 48 hours. + SidewaysDM, + Pensant, HotFaceBud and 2 others 4 1

It doesn’t bother me, but once things move toward scheduling, I prefer to exchange numbers so we have a reliable point of contact for any day of situations. Current photos matter more. Many of yours are 12–14 years old, and that’s a bigger issue than not having a phone number. DMonDude, jackcali, thomas and 4 others 3 4

DMonDude Posted Monday at 11:25 PM Posted Monday at 11:25 PM (edited) I start an interaction on the RM messages but prefer to move to texting or other messaging app at some point. Once it becomes time to meet it's just more efficient to text travel updates and "i'm here, what's the gate code?" or whatever type messages. I don't bother with using RM on my phone and even if i did just for browsing, i never enable any website to send notifications to my phone. Also, seconding what @ApexNomad said. Current photos are important. In addition to the upload date being shown. Some of us can tell by the image quality/resolution or roughly by what phone you have in a selfie how old the photo is and very very old photos are not a good look either way 🫣 Edited Monday at 11:27 PM by DMonDude Added comment about photos

From my experience, it’s not common for me to find it in the ad but I’d be fine either way Edited yesterday at 01:13 AM by PhileasFogg HotFaceBud 1
+ Act25 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I'm fine with starting with the RM chat. I have had a few outcalls using only RM chat and it's worked out fine. But, after a bad experience getting into a provider's building, I will not do an incall without a number to text. thruster and HotFaceBud 1 1
Nue2thegame Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I haven’t used RM chat. I’m unlikely to proceed with contacting if there is no phone number posted for texting. + jimbosf and HotFaceBud 1 1
mtaabq Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I’m with @jackcali here. I begin with RM messenger & I ask the provider to review my profile. If he responds in the affirmative I ask to switch to texting after that. That has worked for me for a number of years. As always, your mileage may vary.
jeezifonly Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Some guys specify what NOT to do to reach out. If you choose the phone icon, the pop up used to offer text msg - not sure current status of that. If provider has not enabled, reach out via RM. I have success with the former.

Perfect. Not a problem at all. I think it also changes the expectation. You sometimes feel like if someone doesn't answer a text fairly quickly, you're not that important. But nobody expects an immediate response from an email. As long as you move serious conversations to text or phone, I think it's ideal.
BuffaloKyle Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I prefer starting with RM messenger chat. I have my client page filled out completely with all my stats and what I'm looking to get into so saves me right off the bat from texting all that to a provider. I prefer messenger chat as well then to get a feel for the provider and can easily disengage if it's not going to work out.
b2bf Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago Not a problem. I use to exclusively use RM messenger but that caused numerous delays. I think few people have moved to the RM Messenger app which at least gives real time notifications. I now tend to use WhatsApp with a link to my RM profile but I wouldn't be bothered by Messenger only.
