It always surprises me to see how many profiles on the various sites (rentmen, rentmasseur, A4A etc) shows the guy staged with, or draped over, an expensive vehicle. Also a significant correllation between profiles with this type of picture and language that implies “high class” or something similar. Have you noticed this too and do you find this picture makes the provider more appealing? Does it make them appear more manly or butch? Curious to understand the logic - any sociologists in the house? 🤓

I studied sociology in university and from that background would surmise that photos of providers standing beside or sitting in expensive cars are trying to convey the message they are similarly pricey or desirable as an expensive ride.

I’m guilty too as when I was younger I enjoyed standing beside my expensive cars to have my picture taken. Now that I’m an old fart I couldn’t care less.

Big car = small dick.
There’s a strong correlation.

Either you’re into cars, or you’re not.  Those who aren’t too often assume that a flashy car is how an inadequate (whether penis size or something else) man compensates for his sense of inferiority.  While that might be true in some cases, it ignores some men’s genuine love of cars.  Flashy cars are adult toys:  they’re beautiful, they’re luxurious, and they’re a shit-ton of fun.  A great car transforms driving from a burdensome chore to one of life’s great pleasures.

If you don’t see things that way, so be it.  But don’t defecate all over a guy just because he enjoys something that you don’t.  Live and let live.

Hmmm. Oh dear. Shall I explain or shall I not bother?

Just as “clothes makes the man”, cars are accouterments that reflect the character of the owner. Whether mundane, inexpensive, practical, utilitarian, trendy, fashionable, environmentally sensitive, luxurious, sporty, sexy, bold or powerful they project an image as potent as dressing. How people respond to those images (including here) is as interesting to me as why people choose their vehicles - reactions are sometimes not what the owner would like to project. In the interest of full disclosure, I’m a complete car nut.

Here in Texas, you see a lot of lifted four wheel drive pickup trucks with tons of other macho looking accessories and extra loud exhaust systems.  Many easily represent $100k and often bought on credit. I call those: gender-affirming care vehicles.

I’m looking forward to seeing the study correlating genital size with GAC vehicle ownership but I’m afraid that it may suffer from some ascertainment bias among other problems. Still, it may be a worthy project for some hapless, unemployed graduate student.

Such students, at least some of them, may enjoy taking the measurements. They might usefully include in their study additional data points tracking the relationship between claimed and measured data. Anonymised, of course.

I have nice cars.  New and fully restored vintage. I like cars.  I would never be inclined to hire someone trying to be showy because the butterfly came briefly into the sphere of someone with nice things.  They’re posiers creating an unsubstantiated illusion

Over the years, I’ve seen a number of young providers who are deeply into status symbols. There’s a whole body of work exploring these aspirational urges, from Veblen to Paul Fussell.

I love it when you talk dirty 🤪

Which porn studio are Veblen and Fussell contracted with? 🤣
