I had someone text me tonight asking me what my rate is. The rates are listed on my rentmasseur page. I would think that the rate would be one of the first things they look for on the ad. Why do they ask for information that is right there on the page?

It is wise not to overestimate the comprehension abilities of some potential clients. But most have the ability to read an advertisement and understand the details presented therein. Most.

Maybe this is just a result of the providers i've hired before, but yes it's like some have alluded to. The prices some providers list on the ad are simply the "base price" and you have to ask what the prices for the rest of the menu is. People are trying to cut to the chase and ask for the price of the thing they actually want to order because obviously no one is listing the extras in the bio.

Also, you'd be surprised how many providers update one part of their profile but leave other parts out of date. For example, i've noticed on Rent Men, A LOT of providers consistently list their height and their dick size about an inch or two off in the Attritbutes section versus what they type out in the Bio section. Same with age or other info like bio saying verse/top but attributes section saying top. Some providers forget there are multiple places to update info on their profile. So it makes clients just go "all of this is meaningless and i need to just talk to the provider".

I think a lot of incidents of that are simply reading comprehension and website design.

A lot of clients are probably so focused on the photos that they simply don’t pay much attention to the rates section before they reach out.  Having a background in safety and human error, I’ll say: people (even smart and well-read people) just don’t take in very much of what they read even when it’s clearly presented.

The mobile version of the site makes you actively click on “show rates” to even see if the masseur lists them or shows “ask” for every category.

When there’s a range of prices, I really like it when a masseur either states those or states that there are “add-ons” or “options” available.

Sadly, I'm not surprised at all. One of my pet peeves with the site Sleepyboy here in London (UK) is the large number of providers whose 'nearest [tube, metro] station' is miles away from their location according to the map at the end of the profile, which is driven off the postcode that they enter.  They move, they update one but not the other.

We don’t know when was the last time you updated that and want a clear and direct proof from you of the rate. There are providers pulling bait and switch and will tell you they “increased” their rate after the service and the posted rate isn’t that anymore

The other reason: I have a saved text template inquiring about rate/availability/location that I copy paste.

As others have stated: they are asking about pricing of other menu items that may be added to the massage, and might not be openly discussed on a MASSAGE site.

Definitely. Some people are pretty dim (obviously none of my clients…). My website clearly states I’m in London, but I get ‘where are you based?’ or worse ‘I’m on 23rd and 4th downtown are you available for an outcall?’ …yes, if you pay the flight costs and my outcall rate for 1000 mile of travel…

Or even worse than location misunderstanding…some clients think I’m female! Maybe my name is gender neutral but surely they can see my pics and a massive cock between my legs?  When I say ‘I’m a guy’ they get quite upset, as if I’ve accused them of being gay. No…I accused you of being thick. You’re not lucky enough to be gay.

Others ask about sex work services via messaging my Onlyfans or via my Instagram. I try to direct them to a more appropriate medium to discuss such things but they don’t get the hints. Don’t they realise it’s strictly not allowed to discuss paid sexual services on those sites. What part of ‘please contact me via the number on my Linktree’ is unclear? And why can’t they find the Linktree or the website link when it’s clearly there on my insta profile?

In some ways these seemingly small barriers to access serve to prevent the stupid or the lazy from actually booking. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing?

Not every rate is clear as listed on the RentMassuer site, but I can presume your is.  Also, if provders are listed on other sites like MasseurFinder, I've seen instance where the rates differed from RentMassuer. Here's an example of a rate that I cannot figure out from this provider- His rate is

US$4294967295

Ask

RENTMASSEUR.COM

I have a feeling he may have accidentally put his phone number where the rate is supposed to go.  Or he believes his massage skills warrant a fee that's proximate to the GDP of Andorra.

I personally don't care about rates as a client. I am more focused on the interaction. Not that I am made of money but my thought process is the connection versus $$$. If one has to haggle about price or is too concerned about it, perhaps other forms of connection should be pursued. I respect and appreciate providers that are willing to provide me with what I need.  Just my perspective.

I think you've misunderstood what this is about. It's not about haggling, it's just about being on the same page. As others have said, the rate a provider lists is usually a price for one specific service. If the client is requesting other services, the rate will change and it benefits both the client and the provider to be on the same page about what is being requested/supplied and for how much. This prevents confusion and miscommunications, which are annoyances for both the client and the provider. It's just the correct way to do business, of any kind.

I have seen a couple of providers posting different rates for the same services on different sites - probably posted at different times.  I don’t feel that the question is unreasonable or asked out of stupidity. They may be asking to reduce the chance of a misunderstanding at the time of the encounter.

Actually, in my experience as a client, there have been providers who change (or have attempted to) their rates after booking, claiming that they "forgot to update my profile". Happened to me twice with masseurs. Considering that, it might be annoying to those who maintain their rates up-to-date, but to me as a client is a valid question. However, I don't as "what is your rate", I make a statement like: "just to verify, it is $XXX for X amount of time, correct?". That shows that I am aware of what the profile says.

The reality is that this type of work is prone to "misleading" information, so confirming everything is how I protect myself and my money.

May I ask, is that a big bother to you and if so, why?

I confirm my rate with the client when they book. I send a message to confirm time, duration, date, rate, address and any instructions. Then I send a reminder day before and if he’s new I confirm again on the day with a ‘see you later!’ message. It saves a lot of misunderstandings.
