Have you ever asked a provider to wear something specific that you're into? I've tried in the past to get guys to wear fishnet stockings(that I would provide); it doesn't go over very well.

Have you asked the provider before he shows up to see you or do you ask when he arrives?  If you aren't asking before the appointment that might be one issue.  Also some providers might want to provide their own clothing for the appointment rather than wear something someone provides.  Just make sure you ask about special outfit requests prior to the appointment and make sure they are clear.

Fishnets are getting into more feminine territory and something a lot of guys wouldn't want to wear.

That's something you need to make clear beforehand.  

I'm asked to wear compression gym gear, wrestling singlets, baseball/football pants, jocks, etc.  Not an issue.

My occasional request is for the provider to wear a Speedo, or Speedo like bathing suit.  I have a Speedo fetish stemming from an "incident" when I was around 7 years old.  My swim instructor at our local pool, who was probably 17 or 18 years old, was sitting on the edge of the pool in his speedo and his balls popped out.  I can still see it to this day.  I liked what I saw!

That’s extremely niche, verging on S&M scenes. I’m not sure how I feel about a nazi uniform, makes me very uncomfortable. I know this is role play but that’s something I’d decline. Similarly I’ve declined to wear stockings/suspenders because it really isn’t me! Clients tend to ask me to wear a jock, shorts, wrestling singlet (with open back 😉), and of course socks. Sometimes it’s also special underwear that the client has bought me.

I'd seen a guy one day, enjoyed the experience enough to arrange another visit within the next few days.  Big, personal trainer type.  I must have commented that he'd look hot in a tank top during visit one... he showed up in a tank for visit two.

I've bought clothes for guys that I'd seen multiple times.

I've made it clear what not to wear in specific circumstances.   Again, enjoying muscular guys, I've indicated to guys that, as much as I'm a fan, I'm not looking for them to stroll through the lobby of my hotel in a compression shirt or workout gear.  

Not exactly on topic, but probably my strongest clothing-related memory.   I had an extended stay with a young guy, also buff, part of which was spent in a hotel in San Francisco.  He arrived with nothing but well-worn t-shirts.  We went out for dinner, not super fancy, but a nice place.  I loaned him a plain black polo type shirt.  I'll note that I was a chubby guy at the time, XL shirt.  It had simply never occurred to me that the same shirt could look so different on someone else.  My A-frame bod compared to his V-shape.  What reinforced it... he got up to visit the men's room at the restaurant... I noticed every woman's head turn as, black jeans and polo, he strolled between the tables.

I think this is a niche but growing desire among some men. I hired a provider recently who was very excited about lace.

That's very specific!

I've seen guys advertise with garter belts for instance. Take a look at the pictures and see if they have any that might suggest they dress in a non-binary way for their clients. 

You can also just ask them and buy them yourself to give them to them

I like anything that shows off a nice bulge - jock, speedo, compression shorts, workout shorts, tight jeans, singlet, etc.  I get where you are coming from and if you are looking for a fantasy or just some good visual excitement I see no problem in making the request. As others have mentioned make the request upfront rather than at the time of the appointment.

I’ve for sure been asked to play dress up and it can be really fun!   Though it’s so specific, a conversation beforehand is required.  Also - based on many of those conversations - I’ve been able to contribute my own gear.  
 

Fishnets, lace, lingerie… all of this has become much more mainstream.  If you look at the great male erotic photographer Mark Henderson’s work, which has always been hypermasculine, lately now you see models in fishnet bodysuits and lingerie all the time.  
 

I’ve had the opportunity to play in lingerie - sometimes with leather, sometimes not - and it’s super hot.  Sort of takes both parties outside of themselves a bit.  I think a lot of guys could do well to open up to it. 
 

Short answer: this isn’t as weird as you think.  You shouldn’t have a problem finding a willing provider.

I agree with that statement 100%. Sometimes what not to wear is extraordinarily important since some looks can kill the mood before it even starts.   And I am sure everyone has certain likes/dislike.

But in my view, its the look, the disrobing, and then what may or may not stay on that builds the entire experience.

One of the better times that I remember to this day was in the dead of winter a provider showed up (it was like 25 degrees in NYC and the provider was coming to my hotel).  He showed up in a hoodie and cargo pants.    He unzipped the hoodie partially and his chest was on full display.  the cargo pants hit the floor and he was also on full display.    The hoodie never came off but everything else did. I’ve dated a lot of guys who were either muscleboys or young men with fit, athletic bodies. I always felt it was routine to discuss what they should wear in public on special occasions and in private for my pleasure.
 

I’ve always enjoyed young men dressed well in a preppy fashion. With new clients I always ask if there is anything in particular they want me to wear. If they have a request, it's usually pretty vanilla, with tighty-whities probably being the most common request, followed by jocks.

A couple of months ago I posted some photos on my RM showing me in a suit and tie. This generated a lot of new interest in my listing, as well as specific clothing requests to show up in particular suits, starched shirts, etc. I'd recommend to every escort to show at least one photo of yourself in a suit, as a lot of guys find it appealing.

So back to the OP, yes by all means make a request. Fishnets might be a bit out there for some guys, but I for one would agree to it. My legs are very hairy and decently built, so the contrast with masculine/feminine would be interesting. Like @DamizzonNYC mentions, it's becoming more common, particularly among younger guys.

I have asked. I’ve had guys do it happily. I’ve had guys refuse. I have bought different kinds of clothing for guys too. As has been said, ask. Depending how that goes may determine if you want to meet. You can’t read minds. And so you won’t know unless you ask.

It’s so true that men almost always look hotter in a suit. There’s a masculine appeal to it. I have a hookup buddy that wears fishets and a garter belt under his suit for me. The masculine/feminine contrast is incredibly hot.
