There are alot of biases in everyone's paradigms. For example you just said I don't understand muscle worshippers. Well, it does happen. The few I've encountered were drug addicts (though clean, well dressed and fit) in need of cash and hustled the streets when things got rough. Each had a similar kind of explanation that since really straight they couldn't get hard with a guy.
