Does the “All American” look appeal to more inquiries?

I know this is probably a case by case topic, and for some maybe even uncomfortable. But it has been awhile since race among providers has been brought up.

But I do so because there does seem to be a truth in these things. I keep in touch with a guy in my local area, who's White (and a bit older). Whenever I reach out to him and chat, he's often mentioning that he has a full schedule of clients for the week (generally 3 or 4 because he works other job). I also chatted with a friend who came to town a couple of times last year and was busy the whole time with clients (on his 1st two trips), but noticed he didn't return a 3rd time and seemed to have slid out of the biz. Both guys in question were White.

Meanwhile in my case (referring specifically to the Kansas City/St. Louis and surrounding cities market), it's often day by day I have next to no bookings. I go thru a cycle of either being completely void of calls, or I'll have a handful of clients reach out, but right off the bat are inconsiderate/difficult and either flake or don't seem to take arrangements seriously. It's not usually this way when I travel (in the right markets, I've met 3 or 4 clients in a day), but it still makes me wonder. Why does it seem easier for White (or more bluntly, non-Black) providers to connect easier with clients in certain markets, it seems?

Probably the market you’re in. Population seems spread out across the state.
When working in those two metro areas, do you get clients who are visiting one of the cities from another state, or are from a very rural area?

When I’m in Saint Louis, most of the clients have been ones from out of town. At one point I had optimism that St. Louis would be a steady market and to make a full move (right now it’s just roommate and it’s his place). But local clients there have diminished considerably. It’s still a little better than Kansas City overall though.

Kansas City on the other hand, I barely come across local or traveling clients on a day to day basis. But when I do it’s generally last minute incalls that I can rarely do, or I’ll get bookings when I’m planning to travel somewhere. When I reach out to the local ones here to follow back up and arrange something, they don’t even fucking return my messages or anything.

In addition to that, I’ve found many of the ones who contact me in St. Louis have multiple reports for being timewasters. These 2 are like the worst market ever. But other cities like nashville and even Chicago seem to not be all that much better.

At this point my RentMen is expired. I’m not going to even bother putting it back up yet, because I haven’t even gotten anything from it since I been back last Thursday.

I'll answer this from a white escort POV.

Yes, we do.  For many clients, white guys embody the 'all-American' stereotype that they're searching for.  I think that's changing, slowly, but it's been the industry norm for a good long time.  With younger client money coming into the mix, I do think we're going to see a trend away from that.

It's needed to progress for awhile, but to do that, people's definition of what they find sexually attractive needs to evolve as well.  Because it's something that is so incredibly personal, I can't blame anyone for what they find 'sexy,' but I always encourage people to explore and push outside of their box.

I've done this with several longtime clients, motivating them to see a wider spectrum of guys to really figure out what works best for them and to diversify their sexual playbook.  I can't be everything to everyone (and, frankly, don't really want to be).

The standard of what's attractive is a good point.

Is that due to what we saw on TV (in the States) over the years.  Is that changing now?

I love the diversity where I live and I also notice more and more hot guys on TV that are not white.

My favorite provider is black.  I tell myself I'm one of his favorites too. 😉

He treats me well.

But to the OP, I can see your point, especially in places like Missouri.

Agree with this. I don’t see the issue as being so bad in UK as it would appear to be in the US. But that’s said from the POV of a white guy. Racial prejudice is common in other areas of life so I’m sure it exists in this industry too.

Before I started doing sex work I had perceptions about the type of guy (or female…I’m bi) that attracted me, and that directed who I went with, and it could be described as ‘people like me’. Since doing sex work, and being intimate with all sorts of different people, all sorts of ethnicity, age, physical characteristics I’ve realised that physical attraction is only a small part of what makes someone sexy. The biggest turn on is personality, attitude and outlook, not the colour of someone’s skin, not their age, not their physique.

Now Jarrod…you know the answer to this 😉

I guess the question should have been "why do". But I think you and @Benjamin_Nicholassummed it up pretty nicely, and that's good that you're recognizing it and have desire to improve it as well.

I'm not trying to give off the impression that I want to have a pity party or feel jealous or inferior towards other guys in the biz. Nor do I want to convey that I'm "not" in demand. Heck, I just launched my new website that is really just a more private, focused onlyfans, and I've been surprised at the number of subscribers I've reached so far. So don't any one get me wrong and think I'm feeling sorry for myself or begging for sympathy.

I had a enlightening experience last week, I danced (this time as a HIRED go-go dancer with a special theme, not the "amateur strip pole" dancers that audition in cities like Dallas). For majority of the night, most of the tips were coming my direction (from mostly White guys and a few women too lol), and I've not even had a whole lot of stage experience. So that really gave a different perspective on the whole matter as well. I may not be doing so well in a certain market as an online escort, but when I'm live on stage it's a whole different animal. Only caveat is: it's not something I wish to do all the time. Despite the fun and easy money.

I guess sometimes it makes me wonder, how can someone be in the same city on the same ads, but one is getting bookings and the other is hardly getting any? I know it's all relative, and not the most conducive thing to concern over. And @Storm4UI think you're absolutely right when you say, "not all Black providers are the same". And that's not being cliche, but it's true. A client can say, "oh I have 2 regulars who are Black." Well that's great. But that says nothing to improve the topic, any more than someone saying, "I have 2 friends who are Black'. All that really tells me is, there's a guy out there who happens to be Black, and he's been fortunate to connect with someone in the already smaller pool of clients we have to work with. And if that person happens to be in the same city, then it really doesn't do a whole lot of justice unless the client is wanting to give a chance and recreate the experience with another Black provider.

But I'm certainly going to be making moves to change soon.I know there's better out there for me.

Of course the white providers have it better… just like in any industry…. But with this industry….
1.) The white male phenotype is most desirable to not only white potential clients, but black, Hispanic, Asian, and other ethnicities as well.

2.) As a black man, some potential hires are going to be more skeptical about hiring you, because of “safety”, reasons (i.e. assuming that you may be a criminal, or are more prone to STDs)

3.) As a black provider, you’re also going to have limits in the range of options you’ll have. Don’t be surprised if you’re requested for services centered around “race play”, “thug fantasies”, being a “buck”, degrading a cuck, or something centered around “BBC.”

4.) it’s easier for white providers to command higher rates, and still increase patronage.

Unfortunately race plays a role in just about every industry, and as a black man, you must have a well-planned strategy to success in any profession.

life isn’t fair, and that’s not going to change.

As a white client I usually gravitate toward escorts who seem more approachable. This is a very intangible quality.

Some guys, especially certain Latinex guys, just seem more welcoming in their ads.

Guys seem “approachable”, based on our preferences, judgments, and belief systems;  which have been programmed in our minds since birth (that conditioning continues with what we see on television and in the media) . We believe that what we think and how we feel is organic, but typically, how we evaluate others, is not.

For example…..

Jeffrey Dahmer was very “approachable” to his victims….. Most of his victims were either black or of some non-white ethnicity. Their programming to believe that a guy who looked like a “Colt” model, wouldn’t do them any harm, led to their deaths.

Honestly, I'd assume yes. In the gay community in general white guys (in my experience at least) usually get the benefit of being the standard of what's attractive. I've noticed here in Dallas that white providers almost always charge a higher rate as well and I assume it's because theyre in higher demand.

to most people (unfortunately) white IS beautiful and IS the standard of beauty.

I know many Asians and Latinos who exclusively date white men. Most gay black men I've met are proud of their looks and consider themselves attractive but have no problem dating men of other ethnic groups.

I hope nobody gets offended by this post and I'm sure there are many exceptions.

Approachable as in they are less likely to stiff, hurt, blackmail, etc.?

I know you mean no harm with that word, but I would stick to use welcoming, easygoing, friendly, etc.

Are pitbulls less approachable than poodles and retrievers?

I also wanted to add another point on this good discussion topic… It’s not just easier being a white provider.. it’s also easier being a white client.

As a customer of massage (haven’t delved into full-scale escort services yet), I have to carefully scope through reviews and even masseur profiles to see if the said provider would even want a black client.

As the overall experience that one receives and gives is primarily based on “personal preferences”, or what we like to call “YMMV”, ones’ racial preference is one that
must be evaluated before shelling out your cash for a potentially humiliating experience.

And to clarify, I learned this first-hand, ironically, as my first experience with a provider who really didn’t want me as a client, was also black.

Very well said!!! Which leads me to this question: who is more approachable out of these 2 pictured (hint, in the gay world, the answer would be, both 😆

Now see, Im very lucky, because aside from one client who asked if I would do race play, and the occasional client with a specific fetish for “bbc” I haven’t experienced any of the other things you mentioned here. I think that how you market yourself will impact who approaches you and how.

I think he was speaking generally, however I can go ahead and answer that while you’re at it. Even though those requests and fantasies do happen (and tbh I’m not really all that offended by it, but usually more annoyed when someone just messaged me off the bat with something along those lines, especially the “pretend you’re breaking into my house and rape me” nonsense.

I try to draw the line between “thug fantasy” and doing sketchy shit that could go wrong. Some of these guys would make great screenwriters for porn, but that’s not something I’d be willing to entertain from someone I’ve not met before. At the end of the day, I don’t HAVE to play up a fantasy or role I don’t wish to. I used to think I had to take whatever client request I would get. And it’s just not true.

One guy even wanted to do 1 of my videos with a sling in the room. But I mentioned to him that I’d prefer it not be in the scene. No diss to the leather community, but I have a rather high maintenance (soon to be X client) client who always asks for leather and rough and verbal play. It would be fine if it was just a one time thing to try out, but this guy wants it that way EVERY time, and then half ass keeps the appointments.

I like the nasty pig “style” of gear and clothing, but I’ve backed away from the nasty pig style of sex. If I’m going to be overly aggressive and dominant sexually, I have a prototype that I’d do that with. Not all clients fit those parameters. So I focus on just normal hot and steamy s*x.

It seems that Asian guys (especially East Asian guys) are particularly attracted to white guys in my experience. At least they seem to have a thing for me, but I’ve heard it from other white escorts/masseurs so I’m sure it’s not just me. Fortunately it’s reciprocated lol. Although as I’ve said previously I find I’m attracted to someone’s attitude, manners and intelligence more than their physical characteristics. Those things aren’t always apparent from a picture or on initial meeting though so there’s always going to be some kind of evaluation based on looks.

I’m not surprised when @Jarrod_Uncuttalks about clients asking him to play roles living up to their expectations of the stereotype of a black escort. It’s a shame they don’t look beyond that and see an individual. I’ve had clients book me because they liked my…their description: posh English accent!  They wanted me to play a role like someone out of Downton Abbey 😂. I could keep it up for 10 minutes but found the whole scenario too funny to carry on. In fact it was so strange I couldn’t keep up the act and keep up my hard on so we agreed I’d just be myself and just focus on the normal hot and steamy s*x as @Jarrod_Uncutneatly describes it.

As a follow up: there’s a truth in what you say but, some of it is on the “surface” and just for “show”.

I connected with 3 Asian guys over the past year, 1 who was half, the other a client, and another who was a “down-low” escort/massage guy.

Anyhow, the down-low Asian guy and I hooked up 1 on 1 before. It was a good time, and he was very into it. But, down the line we had a client 3 way, and he definitely seemed into it (client is White). Later on, I seen him out with an Asian and a group of White guys. I was like, I knew it. He’s open to a Black guy behind closed doors, but wants to display to the scene that he’s only into White guys. All too common scenario, SMH 🤦🏽‍♂️

At the same time, Asian guys can be very hard to read. They’re often super upfront, but also don’t seem to express what they want when getting to know them. That’s been my experience many times. Like, I’m not about to keep playing these games with you ✌🏾

Although I agree with the above statement I would also like to point out that there is a flip side to this idea of stereotyping. In my experience as a young man in an all white community ...the girls I grew up with were uptight about sex but down in Philadelphia the black girls were far more approachable and fun in bed. As I became active with men I found the same to be true. Rather than fetishizing black men I just assume they are going to be better in bed. I think with all sexuality it's about what your mind attached to in your formative years...and you can't really grow out of that much once you're set. I never had a problem stepping out side the box when I was growing up....so I developed a more sex positive outlook and wasn't beholden to negative stereotypes. Too many people grow up in a very narrow world view and they never let go of that.
