+ purplekow Posted Tuesday at 09:18 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:18 PM I do not believe I have seen this topic covered before, at least not in this forum. I had an encounter with an escort I have seen several times before. He likes to PNP. I generally do not do that and I prefer that it not be done on my time. However, I had no problem with an escort who like to use poppers though with the hundreds of encounters I have had, the escort has used poppers only once or twice. Two nights ago, the man I invited to my home was perhaps a bit intoxicated. Not overly so, more a slightly tipsy drunk, but definitely conversant and aware. As we started, he made it clear he would like to be restrained and since I have portable restraints, I was prepared to do this. After he was secured, he asked me to spray some popper spray onto a towel for him. I did so. He took a hit. The restraints on one hand was long enough for him to reach his face with his hand. Soon after, he took another and then managed to spray the towel again. After the third or fourth inhalation, he was not conscious and he stopped breathing and had no discernable pulse. I tried waking him with a few slaps to the face and then, it was clear to me he was not responsive. I gave him a few deep breaths of mouth to mouth and then did a brief round of chest compressions and he gasped. Seconds later he was mumbling and then speaking but not really making sense. A few seconds later, he was fully awake again. At that point, he reach for the towel, which I grabbed from his hand and when he protested, I tightened the lose restraint. I then told him what had happened. Strangely enough, he was nonplussed. I, on the other hand was relieved that I did not have to call the police and explain what happened. Knowing that poppers have a short half life and that fatalities from them are very very unusual, I had consented to his using them. I will never be party to that again. Has anyone elese had a similar experience? Other drugs, especially opiates are well recognized for causing this type of situation and in reading about poppers, this kind of thing is very rare, but can occur even in people who have used it many times and also in a first time user. The need to avoid medications such as Viagra with poppers is well recognized, but his man denied using any erectile enhancing medications. For those curious as to what happened afterwards, after a brief time of unwinding from this, we did complete the encounter. I did take his poppers from him but returned it to him as he left. We had a second encounter before he left in my pool, but that is another story for another posting. + m_writer, + Charlie, + robear and 4 others 1 2 3 1
savantsav Posted Tuesday at 09:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:24 PM I've used poppers especially when the D is big but I don't do ANYTHING else, no alcohol or any other things because they drop your blood pressure. Was he topping? Doing something like Viagra/Cialis with Poppers is waiting for a heart attack because of the blood pressure drop. Definitely scary though what happened to you. + Just Sayin 1

No at the time he went out I was four fingers deep. The first clue was when he stopped moaning. The poppers did their job, but a bit too well. Edited Tuesday at 09:34 PM by purplekow
56harrisond Posted Tuesday at 10:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:07 PM Lowers your blood pressure When using poppers, you’ll often experience a head rush, warm sensations throughout your body, an increased heart rate, dizziness and lightheadedness. These sensations can last from 30 seconds up to a couple of minutes at a time and are caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure. In some cases, people who use poppers complain of headaches as a result of the blood vessels in their brain widening. If your blood pressure drops too low, you run the risk of fainting or losing consciousness. + Charlie and BigDMike 1 1
Rayphactor Posted Tuesday at 10:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:30 PM Holy shit, PK. So glad you were able to revive him. I tend to agree, no more poppers for you providers. BigDMike 1

Nue2thegame Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM Not a cardiologist but if he had no detectable pulse and was not breathing, he was damn close to cardiac arrest but thankfully he responded to limited resuscitative measures. If he is otherwise, young and healthy with no cardiac history, I really have to wonder if, along with his ethanol and poppers, he hadn’t consumed some phosphodiesterase inhibitor along the way. Perhaps he forgot or didn’t want to admit it.
+ purplekow Posted Wednesday at 08:57 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:57 AM I have reason to believe he was mixing with other drugs. I did not think that before this happened, but other events suggest that is a real possibility. In any case, he was fine in the end but I think he is walking a tightrope as far as his general health goes. Advised him to reconsider his use of party drugs, but one can only suggest. + azdr0710 and + PhileasFogg 1 1
+ PhileasFogg Posted Wednesday at 08:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:59 AM @purplekow, he was fortunate to be with a physician and that you maintained professional composure! I think the fact that he was non-plussed and reaching for more is a bit disconcerting. Interestingly, as permissive as NOLA is, Louisiana is one of two states that ban sale and possession. Not an issue for me…but I’m surprised more states don’t.
+ robear Posted Wednesday at 12:49 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:49 PM So glad this worked out OK for both of you, PK. Would be a scary to put it mildly. You seem to be describing use of ethyl chloride spray on a rag, not a nitrite inhaled from a bottle, the more usual example of "poppers." From limited experience, I can say ethyl causes a more dramatic drop in blood pressure, the sensation is more a slide to unconsciousness than the warm rush of nitrites. It seems to have some popularity among party boys seeking the maximum impact while under the influence of other substances. + SirBillybob, + Vegas_Millennial and Nue2thegame 2 1

It seems to have some popularity among party boys seeking the maximum impact while under the influence of other substances. My thoughts exactly, but its signature mechanism is CNS / respiratory depression with possible arrhythmia and possible hypotension, the better analogy being euphoria more from solvent inhalation than rapid vasodilation / smooth-muscle relaxation. I was with a guy in Spain not long ago. To my surprise, he used a towel for “poppers” and it was from an aerosol pressurized device. He showed me the cylinder, about the length of a hand palm, and said it’s purchasable at pharmacies (!) but later with my reading glasses I saw what it was, ethyl chloride (cloretilo), and was glad I didn’t huff any myself. But of course it’s pressurized and distinctly not packaged like RUSH; the key clue upthread is “spray”. That said, the symptoms described could also be methemoglobinemia due to amyl nitrite, distinct from excessive vasodilation that was PDE5i-boosted or not, but can co-occur. It means some hemoglobin has been chemically altered so it can’t effectively carry / release oxygen. The standard antidote is IV methylene blue and that would likely only be available at the hospital. “Meth” commonality coincidental. In any event, best to know all substances on board for when you call 911 for your trick. It’s hard enough to be aware of all the physical signs that assist diagnosing the crisis, including hypotension, O2-deprived hemoglobin, or both. Not to mention possible naxolone indication for opioid effects etc. And insurance deets. In today’s case it appears no poppers, but huffing ethyl chloride for euphoric effect. Otherwise, standard recovery position, CPR, nothing consumed by mouth. Aim for one residual set of purple lips. As amenities go, basement ICUs are the new dungeons. MaybeMaybeNot Posted Wednesday at 02:02 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:02 PM That's terrifying. Thankfully you were there. I was once with an older buddy. We were enjoying a shower together when he slipped. I was terrified for him, then realized how awkward it would be to call 911. Thank God, he was fine.
+ Charlie Posted Wednesday at 04:06 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:06 PM I was first introduced to amyl nitrate--"poppers"--in the 1960s; they were called "poppers" because they were sold in little tubes wrapped in yellow cloth and "popped" and soaked the cloth when you broke them before you inhaled. I only used them when I was close to coming, because they intensified the orgasm. Friends told me they got headaches if they used them frequently during a scene, so I never did. I used them many times over the years, and luckily I never had an experience like the one that you had. + Vegas_Millennial, + robear and liubit 1 2

+ purplekow Posted Wednesday at 07:02 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:02 PM I must admit to not knowing about ethyl chloride being used as a "popper" and assumed it was amyl nitrite with a different way of administration. Thanks for that information. In any case, no poppers, no K, no E when I hire in the future. Of course, some of drugs can be used before arrival, so all I can control is that it will not be used in my presence. Having done CPR on many occasions both in and out fo the hospital, I was comfortable doing it, but I realized that there was no guarantee that he was returning. I guess this is another reason not to pay before the encounter. + PhileasFogg, Luv2play and + robear 1 1 1

Nue2thegame Posted Wednesday at 10:11 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:11 PM I’m happy that things worked out so well and this has been an informative thread for me. But now that the pundits are moving in, I feel compelled to ask the two doctors the following question. He was restrained, sedated and relaxed, do you think that he could have been revived with anal penetration alone? It might have made a novel case report, one that Dr Mengele might have appreciated. By the time they were circulating in the 70’s they were in brown bottles and called Rush or other brand names. We used them during sex but also when we were out at the discos. Great party enhancement, but yes, sometimes a headache after. I stopped using them by my 40’s. + Charlie 1
