I have only hired on rent masseur and think I have a good sense of which guys have any kind of massage skills.  The sensual/erotic aspects of the massage should, in my view, be integrated into the entire experience.   And the best providers know how to do that.  For me, one essential requirement is possession of a proper massage table.   I always ask, as that signals that the provider has taken the trouble to learn a few skills.   The pressure is way better.  There is better comfort for the head and neck.  And then there is always that lovely moment when he works on your neck and shoulders and you get some close and enticing views.   Massages on beds are terrible, and can be very uncomfortable.  I had one once, and never again.  A few months ago I visited Japan and experienced a massage on the floor -- with a mat and a head cushion.   After a while I got used to it, and the guy really knew what he was doing.   And when I turned over and things heated up, there wasn't that awkward feeling that he was going to fall on the floor.  So, I may have been a bit too strict about insisting on a table.   I might have missed it, but I didn't see any other discussion on this forum of this subject.  So I'd be would be interested in other views.

Always on a table.

I've only done a massage on a bed once and although yes it allowed the extras to flow better it wasn't comfortable and the massage itself wasn't as good as when he'd previously done it on a table.

I usually book qualified masseurs who are open to more but even when I book those on the more sensual/erotic side I'm looking for a decent massage plus it's a lot easier to have an exciting erotic experience on a table than a good comfortable massage on a bed.

I offer massage on the table or on a futon (floor) at my in call studio. It’s possible to do proper massage on the floor; some of the techniques are same as on a table but some are different and only possible when done on the floor. I think the floor massage can be very intimate with lots of close body contact. I always massage naked and welcome reciprocal touch so it can be quite intense too.

If it’s an outcall I take my table because it’s much better than using the bed. However some hotels don’t have the space for the table or the client is happy that we use the bed, and it’s more of an escort type session.

A too-soft mattress can make a bed the worst option for any kind of pressure in a massage.

A good solid table that will comfortably position the client for legitimate massage and allow the masseur to easily move on top for either full-body-weight massage pressure or extras can be the very best.

If the massage is mostly light touch and erotic tease before moving on to full-on extras, it doesn’t really matter.

I've only done a futon on the floor once and it was for a sensual massage training course rather than a massage though I think the guy teaching the course did usually massage like that.

It was supposed to be learning sensual masage without crossing a line into any sexual activity. I only met the other guy on the course when I arrived for the session but being on the floor did make it more intimate and we came very close to doing more. We were both hard and so was the trainer for a lot of it. It seemed to work better than a bed.

I definitely prefer a table.

Never had a massage on the floor, though we have "continued" on the floor a few times. Japan is in my list of places to visit in 2028 (my 2027 is already booked). I'd like to know details of where/how you found that massage. Seems interesting.

I'm definitely in the minority here, but i prefer on the bed honestly. I've found massage tables to be too hard for my liking, the circular face cushion thing never fits my face and they makes my face sweat. And the transition from massage to sensual/erotic/full service is very awkward. I've personally found it all around to be more comfortable on a bed, and it makes the sensual/erotic/full service portion feel more natural. Firmness/softness level of the mattress is definitely a huge factor though. I've had massages on a mattress that's very supportive with just the right amount of softness (ideal) and i've had one massage on a mattress that was entirely too soft that made both the massage and the other portion of service not good.

Most of the massages I've had have been on a massage table. A small number have been on a bed. I don't mind either.

If the bed is too soft it's not the most comfortable experience.

The masseur I've seen most recently tends to do our sessions on a bed. He always asks ahead of time if the bed is firm or soft, when he visits me at a hotel. When we first met, he didn't have a car so lugging a table wasn't easy. Now that he has a car, he will only bring the table if my bed is too soft.

I have yet to have a massage on the floor.
