Is hiring only for the wealthy?

OP note: I'm sure some folks who live "paycheck to paycheck" might occasionally treat themselves and hire but it's certainly an expensive hobby.

We are a boutique choice for when people have extra funds to spend. I feel like right now a lot of the money that would go in our pockets is going into gas tanks and grocery bills instead.

Sometimes, hiring can keep one poor.  Like drinking, gambling, shopping, smoking, traveling, etc., it all costs money.  It's not how much one earns, but how much one keeps, that makes a man wealthy.

Hiring may keep a man wealthy if it helps him avoid a rotten marriage and/or a financially disastrous divorce.

It's much cheaper to pay an escort by the hour than to pay a spouse by the marriage/divorce.

There are providers for every budget. Around where I live, I know there are some who work with lower-income clients and charge around $50 to $100 an hour.

Besides most escorts accept Venmo, Zelle, etc. cash is no longer the only payment accepted, they can also take CC!

I don't consider us wealthy but we don't have kids and have two good incomes. We also don't drink or gamble or buy expensive clothing. Most of our hobbies (except this one) are pretty inexpensive. So this is what we splurge on.

Resort vacations, cruises, restaurant dining, live entertainment - all ways to exchange money for temporary pleasure, with a variety of results for different consumers with different budgets. It's the perfection demanded and the frequency of indulgence that determine how much money you spend on the hobby. If you like it frequent, and elaborately planned from rarified talent, you better have plenty of cash to spend. 

If it's an occasional treat, and you happen to be drawn to a wide variety of types and open to a narrower list of potential activities, in a large city, it's affordable.

Exactly, life is all about choices! 

Taking Metro/bus instead of Uber, taking a sandwich to the office instead of buying lunch, etc. will save enough time to hire. 

Spending $10 per day on lunch (Monday to Friday) adds up to approximately $220 per month or over $2,640 per year. Obviously, food isn't free, but it could be as expensive or as cheap as we would like it to be.

All great points made so far. If you're wealthy, you don't need to worry what this kind of entertainment will run you.

On the opposite end, if you want someone who is average-looking at best, backpage listings have men in the "under one Franklin" range to please you, but for me I'd rather save up both financially and "in my tank" to have an explosive time with someone I'm attracted to that's worth their donation in Gold (or at least pricey bronze).

I just did the math - hiring would have cost 4x what my first divorce cost at $500/pop, twice weekly for 25 yrs. And she didn’t eat much 😅🤪…layer on the kids (priceless) and the fact that I paid 100% of college tuition - at expensive schools - and hiring is much cheaper.

That kind of spending somehow reminded me of an old thread about "reverse mortgage" in exchange for unspecified years of escort services by a provider.
