This is more a rant/pet-peeve, but I'd like to get people's takes on this:

When I'm at the gym, I shower in the locker room. I'm not shy about walking around naked. I figure, it's a locker room, it's one of the few places where I shouldn't have to worry about being "modest."

But more and more frequently, I see these young dumb things in the locker rooms, taking up all the mirror space so that they can flex for themselves and their friends, sometimes with a camera set up or their friends filming them. On the one hand, I think, "Gee, there are much worse things for young men to get into than fitness and pride in their physicality. And if I had a smoking body like them, I'd probably have trouble not seducing the mirror." On the other hand, I think, "There are people here trying to shave, brush their teeth, shower, etc. Get out of the way of the mirrors, you dopes, and put the cameras away for Chrissake--there's naked people around. Have some decency."

I'm also slightly slanted on this because I know someone whose kid was doing that, did record a naked guy coming out of the shower, posted it anyway, and charges were pressed (and rightly so), so I'm far from a "neutral party" on the issue.

So where do y'all land with this? 1) Good for them boys for dedicating themselves to their fitness and being proud of their results. 2) Drop the ego, boys, and make room in the locker room for the grown-ups, and for God's sake, put the damn self phone away. 3) Some other option I haven't thought of? ;)

Taking photos/videos in the locker room violates most gym rules and is illegal, so it should not be tolerated. Flexing in front of the mirror while people are trying to get ready is rude. They can flex on the gym floor or at home.

This is what I don’t get.  Most gyms also have a rule that you have to wear a shirt at all times, but if guys go shirtless for a bit to snap some selfies, I’d much rather they do it on the gym floor instead of in the locker room.

I've never been in a gym locker room that didn't have a sign banning "photography". I guess folks only read/follow what they want.

Let's enjoy the "eye candy", some guys are just so beautiful and must be admired!

Are these guys posing naked?  If not, suggest that management allow them to pose in front of the main gym mirrors.  Some signs regarding photography in the locker room would probably also be in order.  Concerns about being photographed and posted on social media are part of the reason you see guys wrapping a towel around their waists before removing their underwear.

Annoying influencers running out of ideas for attention. As other mentioned, I'd check the rules for photography and cameras in the locker room. Not all the gyms I've been to have a warning in the locker room, but there are policies around photography in most private establishments.

Unless I was in a hurry or they are taking an extraordinarily long amount of time, I'd just enjoy the show.  What they are doing is rude, though, since they could easily catch someone else's naked body in their photographs.  As others have written, most gyms I've been to have signs clearly stating that photography is not allowed in the locker room.  I've certainly seen some guys do it, though usually when hardly anyone else is around and only for a few photos.

Yes!  And if a particular good looking young man is taking pictures, why not approach him and offer to take a picture for him?  Offer to use your own camera then text him the picture later.  This way you get both his picture and his number 😉

To answer the OP's multiple-choice question, I vote 1. - I like guys proud of their efforts, showing off to whoever will see (even if people there don't). Just cut it out with the pursed lips bullshit.....

"Pursed lips bullshit" doesn't seem an accurate representation of what was stated before, as if my original post was simply about tut-tutting young men flexing.

I ain't displeased with guy who are proud of their efforts, and I do enjoy eye-candy.

It's the inconsideration to occupy all the mirror space because some guys are so in love with their own reflection that they forget that mirrors are also functional for things like shaving, brushing teeth, general hygienic preparation for the day, and not just vanity-stations.

And it's the criminality of filming in intimate spaces with potentially nude men when, as stated by other responders, many of these gyms expressly forbid and post signs prohibiting such behavior. But if someone can't go by a reflective surface without attempting to seduce it, then I suppose such signs don't really matter to that someone.

I suppose I wasn't clear in making this distinction in my original post.

To Smokey, who referred to the behavior as "ignorant and boorish," you hit the nail on the head.

You have the self-awareness to know that their type of behavior is bothering you, and it's never going to change. I'd suggest a home gym for yourself to solve this problem.

Sometimes my gym is like a filming studio. There’s people with tripods for their cameras filming themselves exercising and they’re oblivious to what’s going on around them. You can’t walk anywhere without inadvertently getting in the shot. Some guys take off their tops which isn’t allowed but the gym staff (if there are any) don’t stop them. I don’t mind them filming if it’s unobtrusive but sometimes it’s like being on a film set. I expect someone to shout ‘action!’.

The taking of pics in the changing room is a different issue. I’m not ok with that happening if there’s people around. I don’t care about being in the shot… in fact I deliberately walk around naked in the background to annoy them. My naked pics are all over the place anyway but most people definitely don’t want to be pictured inadvertently whilst getting changed.
