How Do Y'all Afford Hiring These Days?

My regular was telling me rather than wait around for calls at times when things slow down he will go out on the streets and get two or three clients in an evening.

I thought working the streets died out years ago. I still remember gorgeous boys working Santa Monica Bl in the 80’s. Always east of La Cienega.

Agree, street walkers seem to be a thing of the past. However, hustlers are easy to find still; they don’t hang out on the street though.  You have to know the places to go. In fact Times Square still has the most.

Interesting!  Would you mind giving me an example of such places in Times Square?

Thank you.

I've seen women standing outside a massage parlor inviting men for a "massage"  wink*wink 😜..but haven't seen an actual "street walker" for decades !

As a gay man trapped in a straight man's body(overweight, balding), when I'm walking alone in Vegas after say, midnight I will generally get catcalled at least once. But a lot of them are a bit more subtle and if you're not looking for it you won't notice it. Some of them simply ride up and down the hotel elevators, others will sit down at a table where there are one or two guys who are clearly alone, etc. And some will find a mark who thinks they're just hooking up and will then ask for the money after, figuring he'll just pay to avoid a scene.

Was there a specific reason the hands were behind their backs besides possibly making it easier to lean back against the wall?

No, they'd have their hands against the wall and sometimes lean forward to look around them. It was an uncomfortable position. It was "a pose" that said they were available.

They didn't have smartphones back then, but I wish I could have taken as picture. Anyone around at the time might know more.

Congratulations!!

Mine won't be anywhere near that much. And I'm most likely going to have to claim before 67 as of next week. I don't want to-but I'm not sick enough to qualify for disability. But not well enough to work full time.

If you do the math, it takes a long time for the crossing point to occur (getting higher benefits by delaying collecting Social Security until 70 versus collecting it at a younger age).  When I did the math, I figured out I would have to live past the average life expectancy for a male in the US at this point to start getting more money by having delayed collecting Social Security.  I don't really need the extra money in this moment, but I figured I'd rather have the additional income now when I'm healthy enough to enjoy having it (I'm 63 and just started collecting this year).  Who knows if I'm still alive at 78 how healthy I'll be and whether that extra money will matter to me.  Everyone's situation is different, obviously, but I think the blanket notion that it makes sense to delay collecting Social Security until the benefit maxes out just doesn't make sense for a lot of people.

I have a feeling this summer is going to stink for hiring. At least for anyone not already local to the area. So much financial anxiety going on. Is anyone on here planning to hire less for the time being?

Strange you should say that. Yeah, I plan on hiring less - I work in fintech and see what's coming.

I've decided to only hire a local regular I've seen for years. His rate is reasonable (partly locked in) and he's professional and honest (things highly suspect in travelling escorts).

As a bonus, he's great at finding college guys who are willing to make three, and who charge much less than escorts. I'll give them some scholarship money any day.

I’ve considered that too…

I have a vacation lined up for August with a guy. The vacation is already paid for. And the fee for the escort is accounted for. But after this vacation, I’m uncertain. I have an arrangement with a guy for more frequent hookups but I need to pay the plane ticket. I don’t know what that market will look like.

I can afford ($500/hour or $2500/overnight), I just don't see the value.

I used to be able to get a weekend-sometimes even Friday to Monday for $2500.

I am ready, willing and able to pay top dollar for top escorts. But I am very picky. The way I afford this hobby is by picking only guys who flake on me, change travel plans abruptly, or, my favorite, don't respond to me at all. I haven't closed a deal in years. I save a lot of money that way. 🙂

Boink, that's not a bad strategy.

A few years ago, I'd meet any halfway decent-looking guy. However, I ended up switching to the cream of the crop.

The cream of the crop costs more, but there are fewer of them (and they're picky themselves), so in the long run, I might be saving a few hundred.

I've been very disappointed with the "cream of the crop," and IMHO they're not worth the extra. In fact, they're not worth it: hard to book, very arrogant, highly likely to flake, and entitled.

I think the only difference is one knows how to find a photographer to make them look drool-worthy in their ad.

There are many guys with regular pics or normal looking profiles who are stunning in person. Appearance is not substance.

I haven’t known them to flake, but these other characteristics I’ve experienced.

I afford hiring by only doing it once or twice per year, for an hour or two at a time.  I'm not rich like some other dudes here.  I'm actually quite poor.  I make about 32k a year.  I hire when I can after saving up for several months.  I'm proof that this hobby transcends social class.  It's not only for you rich douchebags.  I can pass.

I'm dirt poor, but even I can afford luxury once a year.

Agree 💯

Plus, you should also consider the "time value" of money.  A dollar today is not only worth more than it will be in the future, but it has the potential to work for you.  If you claim social security early but never spend it until age 70, only invest it, you will almost always do better by claiming early and investing on your own than by delaying until age 70.

They definitely still exist. Lot Lizards still work the truck stops and California still has its street-walking ladies. Figueroa street is still lined up with them.

Getting mugged also still happens!

Like they used to say in the old Spartacus guide AYOR. (At Your Own Risk), if it's too good to be true maybe it isn't!

To be honest with you if someone can't afford to hire now maybe he shouldn't!

Ummm….. I didn’t SUGGEST entertaining these options. I clearly stated  that they exist.

My posting was no reflection of what I can or cannot afford.

Please read the comments thoroughly before responding.
