I'm pretty sure the trend for shaving body hair, and desirability of "clean," came about during the early years of AIDS. Clean implied young, inexperienced, and therefore less likely to be infected.

i went to a nudist Hot Springs a few years ago, and when I arrived, nearly all the guys had shaved crotches. For me, I'd only known gays to even care to groom down there.  I thought I hit the gay jackpot--an oasis of naked gay guys, and a locker room open showers. I started to fantasize.

then i realized that nearly all of them were with their wives... so i chatted folks up, probing , thinking maybe these guys were just DL.

nope. All straight. That's when I realized that apparently heteros shave their crotch too.

Well..that's my point.

The only guys at my gym who shave their chest hair, are the ones who are pretty obviously gay. None of my straight friends shave their body hair. I just dont see it outside of the gays.

As far as man-scaping the pubes...yes I know a lot of guys trim the hedges. But don't shave them off.

I surely am not agreeing with this, but I once was told by a provider who was wildly generalizing that str8 women prefer a shaved crotch.  Not having to spit out or brush away stray hairs makes to them giving a blowjob more pleasureful.
