of course, the word "escort" was appropriated many decades ago to cover up what was going on, first women engaging men and then, a bit later, men engaging men.....the word is now so ingrained in this secret meaning that its original benign use and meaning is nearly lost........because of this wink-wink-nudge-nudge evolution, I much prefer the term "provider" for its nearly-clinical appearance and far greater subtlety.....

Except that "provider" has typically been used as the person who supports someone else financially ("Her husband was a good provider", etc.), whereas the roles are financially reversed when applied to an advertiser on RM.
