Recommendation needed for lube

Recommended Posts

As a bottom I like Swiss Silicone. It comes in a pump bottle which is a bit of a pain in luggage so I wrap it in a facecloth in case of some minor leakage. Some say silicone lubes stain bed linen so I place a towel down on the bed. Even for incalls where I will bring one with me.

Depends what you’re using it for and what your partner prefers. For toys, water based is best, especially for silicone items. Some bottoms prefer the feel of one type or another.

For bareback sex, I prefer silicone lube. It lasts longer without drying out or feeling sticky or tacky like most water based types. I also prefer the feel. Water based is a slip and slide that makes it a less tactile skin to skin feeling. It’s like you’re feeling more of a thick layer of goop between you and your partner and one or both of you feel like a slippery water balloon. Silicone is thin and makes me feel closer to my partner, like I can feel the subtle textures and warmth and the good kind of slight friction that makes everything much more enjoyable. Plus less reapplying. Also works well in and around water. Shower sex anyone? It also works well with condoms.

Some disadvantages of silicone are cost, incompatibility with silicone toys (silicone breaks down silicone), and supposedly more difficulty cleaning sheets and fabrics. I’ve never had a problem cleaning fabrics using high quality silicone lubes. It takes more attention to clean it off your body after sex, but that’s precisely one of the key advantages of it during sex.

My next favorite for bareback is 100% cold pressed coconut oil. It’s solid at room temperature, under 78 degrees F. Then it melts almost immediately on contact with skin. Do not use natural oils or oil based lubes with standard condoms or silicone toys. It breaks down latex and silicone. Coconut oil is a great versatile lube equally suited for massage and bb sex, which can make for a more seamless experience when doing both of the two in a session.

Some bottoms prefer water based. The advantages are that it’s the most washable, easy to clean lube type. Also it’s versatile. Works with toys of all kinds and with condoms, and bb. Not great in wet (water) environments for obvious reasons. It’s cheap. It’s readily available.

Fisting lube is special and you pay a premium for it. You need something thicker designed for fisting activities, like Elbow Grease. It’s messy but appropriate. Not always readily available in your sex shop. Reputable gay owned sex shops should have at least one or two brands in stock. Or order it online.

Years ago one of Vegas’ best known and well reviewed escorts brought some spray lube with him. He is likes to bottom and told me when he has an appointment with a top like me, he always brings it along. We both thought it was great. I wish I could remember the brand name.

Thanks very much for the four serious replies above. I really appreciate it.

J Lube (American), K Lube (UK), X Lube (German). They are all polyethylene oxide (PEO) . X Lube is 100% PEO, J Lube is 25%, and K Lube claims the PEO to be a high percentage, but the exact makeup is a trade secret.

They are powders that you mix with water. Obviously, they are water based. They are very viscous, and I like that I can control the thickness relavent to the activity at hand 😉.  Because they are powders, they are a dream to pack and travel with. They are also economical, so throwing a mixed bottle away won't break the bank, and if you find yourself having to slick down a whole mess of body parts, that won't break the bank either.

J Lube was originally developed and sold as a veterinary lubricant, so if you end up in a lube emergency, or you are leary of online fakes, a quick shopping trip to the local farm and barn will put you straight again 😉.

My skin and mucous membranes are overly sensitive and I've found that all standard brands end up irritating in some form or another.

I've been using 99% Aloe Vera gel. Just the Aloe Vera gel with a smidge of preservatives (which are always needed, since otherwise the lube develops yeast and bacteria) with no perfumes or anything else added. To me it's the best of both worlds of water and silicone: it's slick and lasts longer like silicone, but washes off easily like water based.

I usually carry it in an unmarked bottle (I buy a big container and transfer it) and have had guys commenting on how they liked the lube and asked me where I got it, or if I made it myself.

I used to also make my own lube from golden flaxseed which is absolutely top tier, but a hassle to store and there is a bit of a (not unpleasant) smell.

I’m a Pjur original man.

Nonetheless, if the bottom wants a different lube I’m happy to accommodate.
As I see it, it really is more for him than me

As a Top I’m not a big fan of water-based lubes.
I just feel like I’m fucking the old wet swimming hole down by the creek.
Fun, but not great.

As a bottom, I'm very partial to Hello Cake products. For anal, I love the Tush Cush brand, which is a mix of water-based and silicone. It's very creamy so it doesn't feel slick like water based lubes. It helps me relax and open up more easily. Though we do use Uber lube and Swiss Army as well for jerking off, and I'll use Swiss Army with a lube launcher if I'm with someone who is very hung.

Designed for added comfort during anal sex, this hybrid lubricant is long-lasting, moisturizing, and easy to...

My last vacation I brought Astroglide X Premium, thought it worked well.  I did transfer it into one of my carry on containers....which was made of silicone.  Hah, that container ended up looking funky and the lid no longer fits.  Oops.

The factors for me to choose a lubricant are portability, price and ease of use. People laughed with/at the ones that open in the bag, but that is in fact and issue to consider. Of course, I highly recommend to use water-based lube designed and manufactured for that purpose, except for Crisco for fisting.

All I’d say is get one where the top doesn’t open unexpectedly in your bag 😱

I carry my lube (and other accessories)  in Ziploc bags when I travel. Sometimes doubled, i.e. lube in small bag, massage lotions in small bag, both into a big 1 gallon Ziploc.

Still messy *inside* the bag if an accident happens but my luggage/stuff stays out of it.

Last night I invited over an escort with the largest penis I've ever taken.  I let him know I only had water based lube in case he has different lube he preferred to use.  While we were fucking, he told me that my ass just swallowed his gigantic cock with only pre-cum and spit as lube.  Mind you, he had a lot of pre-cum.  But when your body wants something, it wants it!

Or maybe use a zip lock bag.

I do that now!! Plus I decant the lube I buy into smaller secure bottles and then keep all the stuff that might leak (masssge oil, toy cleaner) in ziplock bags.

If I’m bottoming then I don’t mind what lube he uses. If I’m top then I prefer silicon based lube (or cum of course …that’s best!). I’m cut so I also prefer to use a little lubricant when wanking.
