Caveats in hiring. Please contribute!

Can we trust RMen/Masseur reviews?  If a provider has 100 reviews with average of 5 is he likely to me more reliable than one with no review or 1 review?  It seems strange to me that some providers have been on the site for months but don't have any reviews.  I guess I am hesitant even if I find them attractive.

This is my view in hiring. First if they pass the Look test. Very few past that. Then I look at reviews, but I take reviews with grain of salt. Every overnight escort that I've ever hired, has been a first time meeting. I tell every escort that I'm thinking about hiring for an overnight that I would like to talk with them on the phone. And it's from that phone conversation that I usually go yes or no. My experience on the phone, usually gives me a good feeling whether I trust what's being said or not. I think anytime you hired escort, it's a gut feeling on how the two of you are going to get along and you have to go with that gut.

When I read all the posts in this thread I am astonished and I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. In the last 6 years I have hired a grand total of 30 different men. (I keep a list.) Some better than others for sure. All of them have come to my place. My vetting is limited to looking at their pics, reading the reviews, and asking them if they are ok with most things in my profile. Never have I been asked to pay upfront. Never have I felt at all threatened. Never have I asked them to meet in public first. I must be doing something right and maybe I have a sixth sense for choosing correctly. But there must be other Twilight Zone dwellers besides me.

though many here are entirely comfortable hosting even first-timers in their own home and have had no problems ever, I've never done that......only once did I have a provider come to my house - and that was a longtime regular who was passing thru town and I said stop by for coffee (and it was only for coffee, perverts)

I have never hosted an escort at my place, but I have had escorts come to my hotel room when I've been staying in a hotel.

Most of the time I go to the escort's place. I really like it and prefer it that way.

I use the initial phone conversation to rule out a crackhead and/or queen.

When asked to do a phone conversation, most don't.

@bcbg1205  @bimuscle my experience has been similar to both of yours. Hiring close to 20 years now, and I've never felt uncomfortable, or been truly scammed. The worst I can say is that I have been stood up, or I may have gotten less than what we agreed on. Hell, I was even foolish enough to pay up front a few times when I started out. Even the potential providers I have been interested in, and then researched on here, I have read reviews that indicated things like "wouldn't repeat" but no one I've been interested in hiring has ever been reviewed as a scammer or engaging in sketchy behavior.

The forum certainly made me realize how lucky I have been when I've heard the experiences of other clients.

And I don't know why @bcbg1205 appears multiple times - I can't get it to go away.

I have only been at this about a year and on this forum a few months.  I have been fortunate also.  I always prepare for the worst with an appt.. never have wallet with me, fingerprint entry to phone and pay for hotel with a card that only has a 500 limit on it.   I also pay cash on a first meeting (and never upfront) and I hide the cash somewhere in the room.

Once I know someone, I loosen some things up.  I also veer toward providers that are reviewed well and the reviews feel legit.  I also check the other relevant things from their ads such as the quality of how their ad is written, picture quality, etc.  Now that I am on this forum, I look up anyone I am considering.  But for me, one of the most important is I stick to locals versus travelers.  It took me months before I booked someone the first time, but I knew who was local to my area and luckily I have made solid relationships with 5 guys I do repeat business with, one that now comes to my house.  Feeling comfortable going into a session versus worrying if you are going to get scammed makes things much more enjoyable.

This is a smart suggestion. Thank you @azdr0710

I have not booked in a while, because this continues to come up. I feel as if I have missed a change in protocol. Mostly, in secondary markets.

Define a "secondary market"?

2. If starting to feel victimized, have some fortitude.   I've never been physically threatened, but I've had guys try to use intimidation to cheat me.  I'm no big brave guy... but I've taken a deep breath and

-pulled the car over, gone to the passenger side and yanked out a scammer who wouldn't leave

-picked up the phone in a hotel room and asked for security to rid myself of a problem.

-stood my ground demanding my money back after I paid upon his arrival at my place, then refusal to do anything

-just gotten up and left when at their place, and it's clear they were dishonest.

I'm always surprised when I read reports by guys who conceded defeat very quickly, not want to make a fuss, avoiding confrontation, even following through after arriving to a dishonest description. The bad guys exploit that.  Every situation is different... I'm not advocating placing oneself in danger.  Just don't be a wimp.

I'm only 1/3 of the way through the thread, and so maybe this poster isn't even "here" anymore, (further, maybe it's suggested later in the thread that escorts don't chime in)  I gotta ask, who the fuck are you hiring?  Or, more importantly, why, if you've been threatened or felt threatened, in multiple situations, do you continue to hire non-vetted escorts?  Unless he's off his meds, these situations would never happen with escorts who have good reputations.

P.S. Ten minutes later I see I should delete what I just typed above, but I'll leave it just to shame myself.  I'm living in the past, without Hooboy/Daddy Reviews how is anyone supposed to know who the Good-Reputation guys even are.  Apologies, IGNORE ME!  And, of course, I'm sorry those situations happened to you LaffingBear.

Curious if people can address the following

1) Provider wanted to leave before elapsed booked time, but demanded full payment.  This particular person came recommended btw - but my experience was less than stellar . ( London UK)

2) Provider couldn't perform and asked me to leave. I was asked to pay  ( New York)

3) Provider came to my hotel room, used microwave to cook his drugs (there was no microwave)  - then proceeded to snort something. He then could not perform, and left but demanded payment for the time allowed.   ( Sao Paolo , BR)

I once hired a guy off of RM and when he showed up, he was still handsome but, was not the guy in the photos. I should have turned him away right there. Then he asked for the cash upfront and naively I have it to him. He then stated that even a massage would be extra on top of the 300 I already gave him. That's when I told him to GTFO !

Afterwards he tried black mailing me, saying he would go to the police. I blocked him and reported the ad.

My experience with one escort from RentMen was:

This escort looked nothing like the pictures in his RM ad, he quoted me a hourly fee of only $200, (when rates averaged $250 to $400/hour, which should have been a red flag upfront!) and when I got to his room, he wanted me to pay before anything happened. Once I gave him the fee, he asked what I was into, and when I mentioned French kissing, full body contact and oral, he advised it would be extra, though he didn’t say how much!

I do always carry about $75 emergency cash in a secret pocket, but I told him that I only had $50 on me beside the fee he quoted to me. He then told me that an additional $50 would be enough for him to French kiss with me, let me have full body contact and let me suck him, so I paid him the extra and we proceeded with our session. I must explain here that though he looked nothing like his RM pictures, his physicality, body, and face excited me so much that I was super turned on and ready to go upon seeing him when he first opened the hotel room door!!!

Another disappointment though, he was completely unable to get hard at all, stating that he had done a private cam show where he had cum for an online client 10 minutes before our appointment!!! I know, he sounds like the most unprofessional escort one could ever hire, and I did semi-lecture him on not being very professional, etc., etc.

The chemistry I felt with him though, was through the roof and got me so excited that he got me off pretty fast, and, unbelievably, my orgasm was one of the most intense I’ve ever felt! Truthfully, if he came back through my area, I’d absolutely hire him again!!!

This was certainly not an escort hiring nightmare for me though. I felt I actually got more from him than a few more “truly professional” guys I’ve hired! 😮😮😮

Strange, but true. One just never knows, and I have had very few bad hires over the 12 years I’ve been hiring and never felt I was in any kind of danger over that time.

In the 50ish Rentmen I’ve hired worldwide over the past 5+ years I’ve only experienced the following issues

1) About 10% couldn’t stay hard

2) A few obviously were not particularly interested in me and were “ phoning it in”

3) Some 10% of incall experiences were in apartments that were unkempt or kind of dirty

4) A small handful of outcall guys were either no-shows or egregiously late. In one case the guy called me 3 days later and was suddenly ready for me. I had already left town.

I'll add another one - provider decided he wasn't into it and could not perform - but asked for payment anyway.  We did get started and he ran the clock.   He's actually reviewed on this site, I won't name which one for privacy reasons.

( was an incall, Upper East Side, New York)

I understand things can happen at the last minute, but I get a little leery when I have an appointment scheduled with a provider for a time, and get a text (usually about 45 minutes or so before the time), asking can we change it to xxx time, usually 30-60 minutes later.

I immediately get the sense he's trying to squeeze in another appointment, which irritates me. Its especially annoying when I am already on the way to the meeting.

Most recently, I've simply declined the change only to find, all of a sudden, the original time is fine.

Thoughts?

I feel the same way.  When that happens I offer to cancel.
