Most overrated/underrated tourist attraction

Really? I've been a few times and have always enjoyed it - the Art Institute, Field Museum, Milennium Park... not to mention deep dish pizza!

I personally love taking my pic in front of trump tower ... giving it the middle finger. Juvenile I know but feels rewarding.

Underrated Masonic Temple on 16th St Washington DC and Grant's Mausoleum in NYC.

Overrated: everything in the Washington DC's Mall

I agree. The Masonic Temple is gorgeous. I do disagree about at least the Smithsonian museums. When I lived in DC, I had no life so I went to the museums constantly because they were free. I think they are some of the best museums in the entire country. But yeah once you see the Washington Monument once, you don't have to see it again.

underrated- Bogota- The Gold Museum- 100's of pre-Columbian solid gold art pieces. unforgettable

The National Gallery in DC has as good an art collection as any in attractive comfortable galleries that welcome "hanging out" with friends. (not the East Wing). The Freer has great oriental art and Whistler. And they're free.

I'm not William, but I've lived in Philly twice. I love the ?. I think it's significance it it's time in our history. I think that alone gets it to the top.

Or maybe the whole independence park including the bell and hall?

The whole Independence Park is definitely worth visiting, including the new Constitution Museum. It's the Liberty Bell itself that I think is overrated, especially creating a special building just for the bell (it used to be simply one of the items within Independence Hall).

Final thought: most overrated for New York was the Statue of Liberty.

Overrated: Empire State Building

Philistines!

Overrated: Brooklyn. It has more in common with Philly than it does New York. (Yes, that’s an insult)

Underrated: The Metropolitan Museum’s lesser known collections (e.g. Pre-Columbian, Islamic).

I like the Empire State Building as a structure, but waiting two hours in line to get up to the observation deck was completely overrated, IMHO.

LA Underrated: DTLA old architecture like some of the old movie palaces and the Eastern Building,

Walk around, then find one of the trendy places for a delicious meal.

LA Overrated: WEHO and Rodeo Drive. Visitors want me to take them there. I dread it.

The Hoosier state:

Over: Indy 500 and all the dirt, grime, booze, crazy people and heat; but the museum is cool;

Under: The Dunes on Lake Michigan - sigh

I have taken many visitors to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, (even on race day) and every time they are impressed with the overall grandness of site. They are often surprised that entering from 16th street is going under the track (which they already think is big) how much bigger it is from the inside. [That's what she said.] Every one has said it was much greater than they expected. And for those that have been to the race - the ceremony leading up to the start of the race often gets their attention as well. (And the competitiveness of the recent races has also created fans.)

I do agree about The Dunes.

I might also include as a close second to the Dunes, French Lick Resort.

The West Baden Hotel is amazing. Especially a room on the top floor with balcony overlooking the atrium. Had a wonderful weekend there with a hot escort from Louisville several years ago. Casino, massage, golf, yeah, it was great.
