What was the first thing that ever made you feel “old”?

I have a number of them but can relate to the video game perspective. I was a huge gamer as a kid in the late 70's and 80's during the golden years. Loved arcades, Atari, Intellivision, Colecovision. Even in the early 90's with the SNES and Sega consoles. But today, could care less. I'm more interested in the Arcade1Up cabinets then I am a switch or PS5/Xbox.

As for other things, being called daddy and in the past year having guys call me out for old pics.

A couple of things:

-Being excited about going to bed before 9pm.

-Realizing there are kids serving in the military that were born AFTER 9/11

-And realizing that everyone I hire these days is technically young enough to be my kid.

I mean I’m almost 41 but hiring really makes me feel old these days lol

A 41-year old going to bed before 9? Really?

Yes, that is a good marker: since I like my hires in the 18-25 bracket, every single one of them could be my son, and it has been that way for a very long time now ??‍♂️

Yup that’s the way it is for me too. Funny thing is I’m in the age bracket that a lot of escorts want to work with...35 and up. I never understood it until now but middle aged men know what we want have stable income and are discreet. I started hiring when I turned 18 mainly because I was deep in the closet and in the military way before DADT was lifted so it was a safer way for me to have a connection. It used to frustrate me when a 25yr old would say they preferred if I was over 30 lol

People barely out of diapers complaining on this site about aging.

I don’t think we’re complaining. If anything I’m grateful for every day. Kobe Bryant’s death last year really helped me realize how precious everyday above ground is. I’ll admit I used to lie about my age because I really could pass for early 30s...not anymore I’m proud to say I’ll be 41. Life’s too short so we need to live it to the fullest

Many years ago while on vacation in Fort LiquorDale, I was briskly walking south on Seabreeze Avenue towards Las Olas Blvd. on my way to the Liquor Store near the corner Las Olas & AIA (it's still there). I was distracted by a commotion in the little park on the corner and wasn't watching where I was going. As a result, I almost ran into a couple of teenage boys, one of whom jokingly yelled at me "Slow down, POPS." That was the first time I realized that I was no longer young, at least not to teens. Funny how such minor incidents linger in the mind as milestones in one's life.

I pity those teenage boys... forever scarred by almost being run down by an old man. ? ? ?

I've always felt old. When I was a little kid, the only kids in the neighborhood to play with were younger than I. After that, I found myself in one situation after another where I was older than everybody else. When I was around 26, I started running around with a guy and his friends who were all recent college graduates and I felt older than they, even thought it was only a few years' difference. Now, a lot of the men I know are half my age. Fortunately I've stopped feeling older than they. To me, were all contemporaries. Age just isn't something I think too much about.
