Have you hired a provider for 'anything else' ?

I should clarify the question in the title 😂 ...

I have a semi-regular masseur who lives not too far from me. Nice guy from Central America, who's been in America for about ten years (has his masseur license from TX, but not valid in my state so he can't practice is a gym or spa). Very cute guy, great body, offers extras - but he called me recently to say he's looking to make extra money this spring /summer because business has been very slow the past couple of months (I haven't hired him since December, I've gotten a little bored with him) and he needs to supplement his income. Anyhow, he asked me if I needed a new landscaper (I do, the one I've had for the past 14 years has gotten way too expensive the past few years, so I let him go a month ago). He loves doing 'physical work' like this because it keeps him in shape when he skips the gym (he has a beautiful hairy chest and arms). 

He came over this morning, and gave me a very fair price to come by whenever I need him to cut the lawn; weekly, monthly, or something in between. If I want him to weed the beds, fertilize, etc. at any time, it will cost a little more, but still very reasonable. He also asked if I'm happy with his service to tell my neighbors, because he knows that's how service businesses makes money - by having many customers (as he used to with his masseur business). Of course, I'd recommend him if he's good. I did mention I'd give him a generous tip if he did it shirtless for me, and he laughed and winked - said 'sure, why not?' (I doubt he will, though, where he says he will do something for a little more money, then doesn't).

I still have a couple of other people coming by in the next week or so to give me prices (all the landscapers are out and about in my neighborhood this time of year, looking to get new customers and dropping their flyers off in our mailboxes), guys I already made appointments with. I explained this to Mr. Masseur - he understood.

My question is - what do you think ? Is it wise - or not wise - to hire a masseur for other jobs they are offering ? Or should I just keep him as my masseur, and hire someone else for my lawn ? I'm not really seeing any down-side to it, but maybe I'm missing something ? (I have a feeling the other landscapers might be  a little more than the price he's giving me, so that's something to consider, too.)

I appreciate any advice you have, or any experience in something similar you can share.

Helping out this guy, if he genuinely does the work that you're hiring him to do, is perfectly reasonable. Asking him to do it shirtless for extra money, however, was not. I would take that if I were him as you not being serious about the quality of work that he is doing. I mean, don't you already see him shirtless when he's being seen by you for a massage? That should suit you fine. Having him get skin cancer so you can have some outdoor eye candy isn't ideal.

Years ago, I used to hire this cute Polish kid to paint my rental apartments. He worked in the nude and liked me to fondle him while he was working. We'd always end up having some fun when he'd finish the job.

Yes, I have.  As I learn what else they enjoy, we usually find other things to do.  One, for example, helped me pack for a move - all while sharing my bed.  Another time, he bragged about how he could install a security system with ease, so I flew him in nd we did it together, all while sharing my bed. Another time, house painting…sometimes, escorting is the main thing and they have side hustles or vice versa.   It’s been some of the most conscientious assistance and fun I’ve had.  I pay a flat rate for travel and a generous per diem rate for the assistance and fun

His quality of work ? I'm asking him to mow the lawn, not be by landscape architect. It doesn't take much skill, nor do I expect any measurable 'quality' of mowing the lawn for 20 minutes or less. 

Having him get skin cancer ? That's quite a stretch. I'll provide a good sun block for him - I'll even offer to rub it on him. Believe it or not, there are still plenty of young, gorgeous muscled guys who do outdoor labor without a shirt on to get a tan while working (like the roofers who did my neighbor's house last summer - a delightful couple of afternoons). It's still 'a thing' in the 2020s.

Regardless of what you hire him for, if he is working around your home or business you should make sure he has worker's comp and liability insurance or ask him to sign a waiver of liability.  An accident while performing contracted work could be come a legal and financial issue for you.

I’ve done that. Guys who enjoy cleaning and are efficient do exist. As men, they often find it difficult to be taken seriously as a cleaner. 

One guy who did a weekly clean for me one Summer was a tourist, staying with friends. So he wanted cash-in-hand. He was quite flirty and worked stripped down to his briefs. We had fun together once (scratched an itch but no repeat).

The other man was a law student who took a year off to travel before joining a firm. I gave him ‘room & board’ in exchange for cleaning my apartment. No cash changed hands as he shared my bed nightly and I took him on several trips with me (very thorough cleaner, decent kisser, greedy cocksucker).

Skin cancer is quite a stretch, but there’s a big difference between a well mowed lawn and a poorly one.  That’s why I haven’t cast my lawn since 1994 😂

I once hired a masseur in Mexico City to come out to a stripper bar and be my translator for the evening. We had had a great time during the massage and he spoke English very well. Having him at the bar made things go much more smoothly than when I had been there on my own.

I was hired to mow a client's lawn shirtless.   Happy to do it.   I'm very much into landscaping and mowing shirtless is very comfortable.   There was a reason to his "madness" , however.    It wasn't really about having his yard mowed.     He wanted a video and photos of me doing it and displayed them to friends.    Kind of funny.

I would want to hire you to mow the lawn and then come in later for a cold drink and whatever else may happen - you would probably need a shower and possibly ANOTHER shower after a bit 😉

Yes! There's a provider in NYC who is an accomplished professional pianist, and I hired him for several things after meeting him in this way.  Great guy! I was astonished when he sat down at my piano randomly in his underwear when we met for the first time and played better than my piano has ever been played haha.  

Other than that - a guy I used to see in LA was also a locksmith, which comes in handy at times.

I hired Anthony Dane for my bachelor party - it was perfection! So well planned and excuted I was actually rlly surprised the amount of prep work and detail that he added into the night! I saw him originally advertising that he did events. I don’t see it anymore but the group of guys he arranged couldn’t have been more on point for the group vibe. Super fun. Well worth it. Worth looking it

Private parties are some of the most fun I’ve had as a provider.  A favorite of mine used to hire me twice annually - Christmas and his birthday - for sexy parties. 

It mostly involved serving drinks in skimpy costumes, and eventually nude.  Also just helping to keep a light friendly atmosphere, flirting with party guests, etc. etc. etc.

The dude took care of all the bullshit that I hate doing and suck at (everything except paying LOL) - nah he advised on the hotel choice, stocked the room with everything from snacks and food and drinks to lighting, decor, games, a fucking police stripper moment etc… it was a rlly fun time for my guests and I and you could see the detail that was put into it and it totally made for a super smooth night. Best part was the whole group of dudes even cleaned the space immaculately when done. Would’ve hired just for the cleanup tbh. Hot

The magic trick was when the funds vanished from my bank account hahahaha. I’m just playing - his room mate at the time is a good friend of mine and the one who recommend this to me. He was very professional and great. And a total pig. 🥵

Given the reaction to my post, why is that so strange? Women are great gardeners and if they have an entrepreneurial bent they make good landscapers. Some of the most famous gardens here in Canada were designed by women.

For instance the Reford Garden in Grande Métis sur Plage in Québec was created in the early 20 th century by Elsie Reford and is now a National Historic Site.
