…when there’s ample hotels that don’t accept cash? Like come on, don’t play games. They should know just as well. I’ve stayed at a mid level hotel last week in, and prior to that a Hilton in a downtown area. More and more are not accepting cash anywhere on the property to check in or pay for food, unless it’s a tip.

Idk why some people have this idea that they should only give cash, though it’s usually to avoid giving a deposit or some irrational fear that a provider is going to hack their account somehow. Even if it’s paper trail issue: there’s ways to get around that. Lots of cheap prepaid card options. There’s even banks that offer a separate debit card number, from your main account.

I’m not a no cash person, but I can’t plan multi-city tours, based on someone potentially showing up with cash. I’ve done that before many times, sometimes it works: many times it doesn’t. For me it’s better to KNOW it will, so I don’t waste time and money going out to places with no actual proof of a real man being available to meet. There needs to be an expectation that a confirmation besides cash is going to be required by some.

You just might be the first person I've ever known to wonder,  "is cash the only way you can compensate me for my time?"  For me.. the buck would stop if someone I've never met asked if they could pay me with a check, otherwise my answer to "how may I pay you?" Is always "whichever method is most convenient for you.... cash or any of the cash apps..... "  I never forget that some people need the privacy and less of a paper  trail,  which reduces the payment method to cash and I'm perfectly happy with that.

I wouldn’t advise a check ever…because there’s no way to ensure it wouldn’t bounce back: but many people these days are familiar with the instant use of Venmo, cash app, etc as acceptable ways to pay for just about everything.

My thing is: I have laid out in my ads what I require to arrange a session (deposit), yet some will reach out and insist that they will only pay cash. Okay then, that’s fine but: unless the cash is mailed or given in person somewhere before the booking, there’s still no way to consider that a way to confirm a booking and contribute towards the necessary expenses which may be needed to arrange a visit.

And the main ones who often say this: are the ones who want me to host, when I’m somewhere out of town but not hosting. Which means I have to then reach into my own pockets and front a hotel to host, that they will more than likely not show up to or cancel last minute after I hand over my own credit card.

I see... your post is more about "deposits" then.

This is not complicated, many people (including me) do not want any record that the transaction occurred, for legal (and confidentiality) reasons.

Bitcoin. :)

Back in 2017, I paid someone 2 BTC for a trip  that was worth about $6k at the time. I specifically told them not to cash it out and just keep it and don't so anything with it and just wait.

They didn't listen to me. Today that would have been worth $150k.

I'd urge every provider to take all payment methods possible.

Simple answer: I am the client and I want to pay in cash.  If the business does not accept my preferred mode of payment, I will go somewhere else.  In this case, I will hire someone else.

Why would I ever transact business with someone who makes it so difficult for me?  I am the client, I am the one to be pleased and satisfied, not the other way around.

You constantly compare escorting with hotel reservations and salon appointments

We like to compare escorting to other industries when it supports our point; it’s its own thingy when we want to set different economic rules. Done you know that?! 🤣

In my experience cash is a dead thing now with the newer generation! People prefer digital payment cause it quick and easy and all the money / proof is there. Yes providers now are asking for deposits and that’s largely due to a lot of people flaking or not showing up wasting the providers time. Also if you are the one paying for service maybe be mindful of how they like to be paid it’s not that hard

"Cash is a dead thing now"  🤨 you say...... I strongly disagree and still believe that "cash is king 👑"

Since you're new to the board ( just this last Halloween 🎃 ) welcome to COM I'll tell you that I've been in San Diego twice in 3 weeks, Los Angeles twice in 3 weeks, and now back to PS three times in 3 weeks and I've not requested or required a deposit... based upon the many folks I see and have seen, deposits are most certainly not the norm and probably for a good reason.

No!  They should be mindful of how I want to pay. I don’t want to leave a paper trail with these kinds of transactions.  Should the provider be involved in a scandal or crime, I don’t want feds tracing anything back to me.

Ask the responsible 12 year old how he's going to pay for his snack, drink, or merchandise, and it will still be cash.  Ask the older, but foolish, 20 year old taking out loans for her degree in underwater basket weaving, and she'll say digital payment.

Just because a generation is doing it, doesn't make it wise 🦉

I accept cash or card. Some clients prefer to pay in cash because of the anonymity. That’s fine with me, I’ve accepted any currency: €, £, $. I used to accept PayPal but that organisation became difficult so I avoid it now. It’s about what’s convenient for my client. If the meet involves significant up front costs from me and the client is new then I’ll seek some pre payment or assurance or I’ll decline the business.

This is becoming a tempest in  a teapot 🫖 and far more complicated than it needs to be. Cash works BEAUTIFULLY, cash apps are fine  it all depends on what's best for each individual... privacy often dictates what method conspicuous consumers may choose to use and being flexible, understanding, and accommodating will take you far on both sides of the fence.

I prefer cash if possible. Not because I haven’t done electronic. I have. I will. But cash seems like the vulgar part of the transaction is over and done and then the rest of the visit can be pleasant. I also don’t hire for hookups. I do weekend overnights as a BFE.

Tell that to the two 27-year-old provides I see who prefer cash.

I have also taken a provider to a bank where he can deposit the cash. All part of spending time together.

I did something similar once. Provider asked if there was a Chase ATM nearby. It would have been a mile-long walk down a very trafficky but not well-lit street so I drove him.

OR, hanging on to it could have potentially backfired, and the 2 BTC might have turned into junk status with a bad financial turn. He wasn't a fool to take what you gave him at that time. I was urged by a door to door salesman 30 years ago to switch to Enron - I'm glad I didn't.

Wow! My old Orange County regular also deposited the fee at the Chase in Newport Center, until we agreed on Zelle.
