Darker sheets hide the stains that persist after washing. Buy cheaper ones, so you can replace them when needed w/o breaking the bank. You can always put the waterproof sheet on the mattress and one of those microfiber blankets on top of the sheet. They are comfy and basically indestructible. Brown is my go-to color. I had some white sheets that had blood stains that I thought were set because they had already been washed.
