OnlyFans does have a lot of non-sex content - it's a huge website.
The banks and credit cards haven't changed a thing as far as I've heard so this is OF backpaddling.
Their intention was to get evaluated as a billion dollar company shortly after getting rid of porn and selling the company to cash out. My guess is that they realized how much they jeopardized how much the site is worth and what they could sell it for. Tumblr sold for big bucks but is worth next to nothing now in comparison - I imagine investors saw the writing on the wall for the and they were about to leave OF hanging high and dry.

....

??? Can you give an example? I'm not doubting you, I've just never heard of anyone subscribing to OnlyFans other than for the explicit content. What kind of content would people pay good money for, that wasn't adult-oriented?

Celebrities, fashion models, musicians, yoga instructors, and many other use OnlyFans for non-nudity content. But don't get it twisted: sex workers made OF what it is today and that wouldn't have happened if a major porn player hadn't invested in the company after its launch. Much like Twitter, people live on one side or other of this content. Here are some examples:

Drag Queens because duh: https://onlyfans.com/sheacoulee
Consultation for independent music artists because why not: https://onlyfans.com/melissakeklak
But all this pales in comparison to the royal highness who doesn't need to be naked to wow our pants off:

OF first attributed the change to skittishness on the part of institutional investors and then switched to pressure from credit card processors. Interestingly, their processor is CCBill, which is widely used in the adult industry. While it is true that some issuers automatically decline adult-oriented website transactions, most do not.

I wasn't kidding in the other OF thread when I said someone in Accounting told them that they would lose 99% of their revenue.

Pretty much and in most of those cases, the celebrities, models, musicians, fitness freaks all migrated to OnlyFans AFTER it blew up and got popular because of sex workers.

Glad the decision got reversed and hopefully this was a wake up call to sex workers and explicit content creators to have backup platforms where viewers can enjoy their content (like JFF etc).

I switched to justfor.fans awhile ago. Only fans seemed a bit dated and limited

Funny you should say that because OF's servers used to crawl at peak times. Now JFF seems to have the same issue all the time and OF has dramatically improved.

Yes, JFF is horrible lately in terms of responsiveness.  I also emailed their support team because I was being logged out frequently with a message that a VPN was detected and they only allow you to use a VPN if you contact them and they authorize it (or something like that).  The response was entirely unhelpful, something along the lines of "thanks for contacting us, what is your issue?"  I had already told them what the issue was.  At any rate, I think I resolved that issue myself -- I use a few add-ons in Firefox to block ads and other tracking and I think one of them was causing JFF to think I was using a VPN.  Once I disabled Ghostery and AdBlock+ I stopped getting kicked off, but their site is still much slower than it used to be and sometimes doesn't respond at all when I try to log in.

That is the most popular narrative, but I do not think it is really what happened. It is hard to believe that they made the decision to ban porn without knowing the precedents. It is true that most times the simplest explanation is the right one, but it cannot be that simple.

I wish I had inside information, but I do not.
