Forgive me, I'm completely in the dark here. What is this event?

Yes...please. Inquiring minds want to know.

If you do a search in the forum, you'll come up with similar threads to this about previous years' meetings, including the ill-fated 2020 occasion.

I don't know of DTW specifically, but I know there are individuals that have attended from CMH, ATL, DCA, and MSP. In other words, it isn't attended only by guys from the west coast.

Or, indeed not only guys from the US.

And, don't forgot about BDL, IAH, DAL, LGA/JFK, ORD

Or CBR for that matter.

this thread will grow to many pages by early February, 2021, when host Oliver will make a general announcement here in the forum of the event with instructions on how to "register"......

the weekend is very casual and friendly.....everybody is eager to meet and put a face to a username.....as said above, many forum members will stay at one of a few gay-oriented hotels in the Warm Sands neighborhood of Palm Springs (some are clothing-optional, but none are nudity-required)....there are a couple other less expensive options, like the somewhat-popular, but less luxurious, clothing-optional Canyon Club, very near downtown......be warned that because nearly every weekend in the spring season is popular with various events in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area, accommodations will be very expensive....I believe the downtown Motel 6 was about as much as $150/night in recent years, though the Canyon Club might be even less......

And for those into morning exercise, a vigorous hike led by @azdr0710 is a great way to warm up one’s ass and legs for more intimate times later!

Wayne (@Socalguy) and I will absolutely be there, as always!

We're actually moving to Palm Springs at the end of this month (yay!!) but will probably rent a room at Canyon Club for that weekend.

We can't wait to see you all again. I really wish we had been able to get together this year! Hopefully, many things will be better next year.

There are also various threads about the event that you could probably do a search for and get a lot of information. Many of the posts give info about the various things that happen during the P.S. Weekend. A lot depends on who is able to make it any particular year.

I'm also curious. Does anyone fly there from DTW?

There is generally not a nonstop flight to PSP from DTW, though you never know who might schedule one for next spring. I tend to like DL's routing via MSP, but AA offers good service via PHX or DFW that gets you there in the shortest amount of time.

By anyone flying there from DTW I meant guys on this forum not airlines LOL

I have diamond status with Delta so would definitely use them but when I looked at going to an event in early March most of the flights connected at LAX and were very expensive so I'd either use miles or rent a car at LAX and drive from LA

Or consider flying into Ontario - it is an easier drive to PSP than the one from LAX.

Sam.fitzpatrick is absolutely correct. The drive from LAX to Palm Springs is a TOTAL bitch. You have to cross the entire city and traffic is impossible anytime of the day. If you can't get a flight direct or connecting into Palm Springs then Ontario is definitely the best. Do NOT even fly to Palm Springs connecting at LAX. Even Orange County is better than LAX. Avoid LAX like the plague. Connecting to Palm Springs through Phoenix works well.

Thanks! No direct flights to Ontario either but a little easier to fly to than PSP and a little cheaper but more than LAX. May be worth it to fly into ONT and just rent a car there.

Even with Covid?

This is an annual, except for this year, occurrence that is organized by Oliver in Palm Spring. It started as a small get together from some clients and escorts and has grown to about 50 people. It is a weekend fest. Most guys stay at one of the gay resorts in Palm Springs. There is a dinner on Saturday night and a pool party at Oliver's home. The pool party is a luncheon that goes from mild to wild and back again, depending on the year and the inclinations of those men attending. The dinner is at a local restaurant. There are some other organized and spontaneous events, As many of the men are staying at Inndulge or Canyon Club or one or two others, there is daytime meet and greets. It is an opporunity to meet forum members and also to meet escorts off time and of course on time as well. Only a few have left not having had a good time and planning to return the next year. Really an opportunity to meet like minded men with minimal hang ups about hiring or being hired.

Alaska flies to PSP from San Francisco and Seattle, so they might be an option that offers affordable fares with a routing through one of those cities. Remember they will be in One World by then so American may have code-shares with them next April. On my previous ventures to the weekend QF have routed me through SFO. This year I was booked in that way and out via DFW. I have an open QF travel credit to prove it.

@Just Sayin', there's a chance that there'll be a vaccine but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

There has been much less air traffic in and out of PSP since the start of the pandemic. Many flights have been cancelled, and some airlines have ceased service, especially those whose regular service is seasonal, like JetBlue. Alaska is the only airline that has been reliable on a daily basis. The terminal is practically deserted most of the time--even the Starbucks there has closed. Under normal circumstances, there is direct service from Chicago on United; Denver on United and Frontier; SLC on Delta; SFO, SEA and PDX on Alaska; and AA does have service to DFW via Phoenix. The only international flights are from Canada, but they are not running now. It is almost impossible to predict what the airline situation will be next April.

I used to be able to tell time by what flight was coming over my house, but almost all the planes I see now are private aircraft.

I haven’t needed to fly into PSP for anything in many years....

just curious.....is cigarette smoking still allowed in the outdoor areas where passengers wait to board their flights ?

some areas were really pretty close to aircraft - while not really dangerous, that just seemed “weird”......& I remember thinking banning that nasty habit in outdoor public places was in place pretty widely while PSP still had no such specific restriction.....

(tomorrow when we go down from Marin to Ojai for a weekend with my brother & his fam....we fly down private into Camarillo)

Interesting question; it's probably not allowed anywhere at the airport any longer, but I don't know.

I flew into the Ontario airport. It’s on the eastern side of LA which saves you from driving through L.A. saving you both time and frustrating traffic. It’s a short 1 hour drive to Palm Springs from the Ontario airport.

I agree - Before the PSP airport became more popular, I would alwasy fly into ONT and rent a car there for the short drive from there to PSP. Many airlines will be rethinking their networks, with many smaller airports likely losing some service. We will have a better idea after the fall once the federal airline funding runs out.
