If women are, by the conservatives' angle, more considerate and nurturing, then they should be more careful on the road. They woiuld be less aggressive and less likely to take risks. This is true. Women get into much more frequent accidents then men, but their accidents are less severe (fewer injuries or deaths than accidents caused by men). Their less aggressive nature also means they're less defensive. Don't ask me how they frequently hit parked cars and stationary buildings, science doesn't have an answer for that one yet. But, they hit those objects at much slower speeds than men, causing fewer deaths from accidents. samhexum 1
samhexum Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 MY APOLOGIES TO ALL THE WOMEN DRIVERS! @&*#ing BOVINE Drivers!!! @purplekow: a deer running headlong from who knows what crashed into the side of my car. As I later learned the deer had no damage to its body but significant damage to its head and the police put it down. this is the sixth car to which I have had this happen. One had a muffler from another car come through the windshield/ One had a tire fly off after having a flat fixed and the tire changed at a garage. In one I was bumped off the road by an intoxicated driver and drove up and then rolled down an embankment. In one, a driver deserted his car in the left hand lane of a major four lane highway without flashers or any notifying item and I crashed into the rear of the car as I pulled out from behind a semi to find the car there, That was the one in which the company that owned the car replaced my car. The more recent one resulted from my hood not being properly closed after having my oil checked while getting gas. As I pulled out onto the highway and got up to speed, the hood was blown open and smashed the windshield.

An 8-year-old Ohio girl was so set on shopping that she hopped behind the wheel of the family SUV and drove for 10 miles to the local Target, according to reports. The pint-sized shopaholic gave her folks quite the scare and sent police scrambling, but eventually emerged unscathed — even giving the cops a giggle. “Well, I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop at Target than my wife,” Bedford, Ohio, police quipped online Sunday. “That’s right, an 8 year old took mommy’s car this morning and drove to Target in Bainbridge to shop. “Not sure what she bought, or if she was even able to use her Target app to save 5%,” the department said. “We did let her finish her Frappuccino. Wild video shows an 8-year-old Ohio girl swerving her family’s SUV across lanes on a 25-minute joyride to go shopping in Target. Dashcam footage released Wednesday shows alarmed motorist Justin Kimery calling 911 on Sunday, assuming it was an adult driving dangerously in a 2020 Nissan Rogue. “There’s a guy in a car, he’s like right behind me. He’s swerving all over, he’s swerving everywhere like in all the lanes,” Kimery said — not realizing at first it was a young girl behind the wheel. The girl had $400 on her and used it to shop around — which police said they made sure she returned to her parents. She had checked out before cops arrived, employees said, without detailing exactly what she bought. + Charlie Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I have been driving for 64 years, but have never been involved in any kind of accident. Last month, I was driving on a local highway when the woman in the car behind me decided she was going to pass me on the right. But she speeded up too quickly to change lanes, and instead smashed into the back of my car. When both of us pulled over, the first words out of her mouth were, "Oh, no! All my other accidents were caused by the other driver. This is the first one that is my fault!" It was a sweet admission, but I wondered how long she would stick with it when push came to shove. Since both cars were still driveable, she insisted that we drive to her home nearby to call our insurance companies, which we did. We sat at her dining room table, where she served us coffee. Then over the phone she described the accident and admitted to her insurance agent (Triple A) that she was completely at fault. I couldn't believe it would be that simple, but the next day I got a call from her insurance agent that an appraiser would be sent to our house to estimate the damages. The appraiser came, photographed the damage, asked where I wanted to have the car repaired, he accepted my choice, and then he went to the auto body shop and arranged everything there. When I brought the car in, they told me they had worked things out with the agent. They even had a connection with a rental agency for a car while mine was in the shop. The car has been there for almost two weeks, and I am getting antsy. Somehow everything seemed a little too easy. Luv2play 1

Here in Ontario Canada, we only deal with our own companies no matter who is at fault. They know us, and if necessary pay for the damage to the other driver. Then of course if I am at fault I will pay through higher premiums, unless I can use my forgiveness benefit. Many years ago in Quebec where I learned to drive we had to deal with the other driver’s insurance company. It was terrible as I learned personally when a driver caused an accident and then we had to deal with her company as naturally they dragged it out. M My mother had to escalate things to the president of the insurance company to get action. I was driving her car. + Charlie 1

Body work always takes a long time, don't worry about it unless they start making noise about you maximg out the rental days - which shouldn't be an issue since this is a liability claim, not the separate rentsl coverage. + Charlie 1
samhexum Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Careless girl admits to cutting off tanker that spilled chemical in Illinois, killing 5: ‘Totally my bad’ A federal report on a tanker-truck crash a year ago in central Illinois that spilled a toxic chemical and killed five people includes an interview with a 17-year-old Ohio girl who concedes that the truck was forced off the road when she passed it with the minivan she was driving. The tanker slowed and pulled to the right to allow the minivan to get back in the right-hand lane and avoid a head-on collision with oncoming traffic on the two-lane US 40 in Teutopolis on Sept. 29, 2023, according to dash-cam video from the truck also released late Wednesday by the National Transportation Safety Board. “Oh, (expletive). Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Yep, totally my bad. Wow. Holy (expletive),” the girl said while watching the video from the ill-fated truck during an Oct. 4, 2023, Illinois State Police interview. The tanker truck was carrying caustic anhydrous ammonia when it jack-knifed and hit a utility trailer parked just off the highway. Five people died as a result, including three family members who were near the road when the incident occurred. The transportation board said its latest findings are merely a factual account and do not include analysis or conclusions, which are expected later. The girl, whose name is redacted in the transcript of the state police interview because she was a minor at the time, said she was traveling with her mother and brother to visit her mother’s boyfriend in the Illinois suburbs of St. Louis. An accident on Interstate 70 earlier that night diverted loads of traffic onto US 40, and she said she passed three trucks on the road heading west into Teutopolis. The girl said her pass of the tanker began in a passing zone, although a no-passing sign appears in the video. She said once she began passing, she realized she needed to accelerate to clear oncoming traffic and estimated she was going 90 mph when she pulled back to the right, narrowly slipping by an oncoming vehicle. She told investigators her mother was upset by the close call, but she thought she had plenty of clearance. However, she declined the police interviewers’ offer to show the dash-cam video again. “No, you don’t have to. It was totally my fault,” the girl said. “I’ve honestly in the past had times when I just don’t use good judgment in judging like distances and whether I have enough time for something.” Attempting to give the minivan space to get over, the truck moved onto the shoulder, lost traction on gravel and then hit a drainage culvert, according to the truck driver, who survived. Continuing west, the girl said she soon saw emergency vehicles coming east but did not connect them with her passing the truck. She said that before the family’s return trip to Ohio, when her mother was reading aloud news accounts of the crash, she had no idea it had happened. “Of course not,” she told investigators. “I told you that like three times.” When one of the investigators expressed disbelief that no one in the car noticed a truck turning over behind them, she doubled down. “Nobody said, ‘Oh, the guy behind you drove off the road,’ ” the girl said. “That would’ve been a huge deal for everybody. We would’ve been like, ‘Oh, (expletive), I just caused something really bad to happen,’ and then like our whole night would’ve been figuring out” what to do. + Vegas_Millennial 1
