This test will give you your results on the Kinsey scale.

I've read  it's not considered that relevant today as "our" understanding of sexuality is broader-for example it doesn't take into account gender identity. But I took it and I think it describes me fairly well. There were one or two questions that gave me a pause-particularly the ones on socializing and emotional bonding. I'm kinda of a loner. So I just had to suppose on those questions.  Also I wonder if some of the questions are weighted more because on these two questions I answered it twice -once with the (pardon the expression) straight same sex answer-the next time one of the more middle answers. And I still achieved the same result.

So here is my result.

As clarification-I don't even like giving blow jobs. And the thought of going down on a woman is even worse.  Luckily I have an excuse now not to as  I have jaw problems and it hurts to open that wide.

Someone did question my gayness when I admitted I didn't like giving BJs. But it takes a village----er I mean "takes all kinds."

I also got a 6- no surprise at all!  What did surprise me was the social/emotional component since I thought my “gayness” was purely sexual.

I'm assuming you are talking about the socializing and emotional bonding questions since the test doesn't actually score subcategories -at least not on this website. But if your answers were for the highest same sex interactions -didn't you know this about yourself -or are you saying that you replied to  these two questions swinging more towards the middle or pro-opposite sex answers, and you still came up with a 6?

I wonder if all the questions are weighted equally. I went through the test twice. The second time I used the more middle of the road answers for these two questions but kept my answers on the other questions totally male oriented, and I still received a Kinsey Score of 6.

Both- while my social/emotional answers were more middle of the road (and I still got a 6), I hadn’t actually processed the fact that most of the people I would consider close friends that I met “in the wild” (aka not family or family friends) happen to be other men (both gay and straight).

I fall right in the middle.

Kinsey used the words rather than the numbers when he interviewed people.  He had a coded worksheet that he used to record answers that wouldn’t mean anything to someone else who read them as part of his way of keeping his volunteer subjects anonymous.

The Liam Neeson film “Kinsey” is a pretty good film that I enjoyed.  Not great, but worth watching.

Dr. Fritz Klein followed up on Kinsey’s work and came up with a multi-dimensional grid that I think gives a better representation of a person’s real orientation.  It also doesn’t address gender identity along with orientation.

Take the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid (KSOG) here.

The answers aren’t as concise, but they are more descriptive.  My Klein grid scores reflect that I behaved more as a heterosexual when I was a young adult although I was always attracted to the whole gender spectrum and my behavior has come more in line with my attractions as I’ve aged.
