I learned that you can pronounce LGBT as "El Gibbity".  I've been saying that ever since.

Right!  The OP statement is not long enough.  The amount of letters looks current, but there's at least one addition sign, and by now I'm sure there's a multiplication, and/or numerator and denominator added to this algebraic expression

The number 2 is the original post seems discriminatory to thruples.  There needs to be a few more numbers in there to be inclusive.  And need to add a decimal point, to include people who identify with only a fraction of a known gender.

I've heard more than one gay community voice say that the decision to put L first was in gratitude for the number of times lesbians cared for sick and dying gay men during the AIDS crisis.   I was too young and in the wrong part of the country to see that first hand. But I believe it.  
I will gladly put L first if even some of the L community cared for the rest of us in that time when the country, culture, and our families left us to die unattended.

I was told the L was moved to the front to piggy-back on the success of the women's liberation movement.  They were successful in changing attitudes about woman, and once women could hold a "man's" job then the next step in logic is to stop prohibiting men who sleep with men from holding jobs.

Now that the gay pride movement has very much succeeded, other groups based on race have piggy-backed on the success of the gay flag and pride events to promote their cause as well.

The whole demi/sapiosexual thing is just cultural appropriation. Having a type is not the same thing as orientation, dammit. Nobody's outlawing dating nerds.

It's a little bit off topic, I hope you guys don't mind but I never say "Lgbt+ community" & sometimes I get irritated when others say that although I never say it out loud when people say it.

In my opinion, if one adds more letters &/or numbers, many people will not pronounce it completely I think. So it will end when (most) people won't say it anymore.

Or it ends when most people are going to shorten the abbreviation. There were other reasons too but once "MP" in "MP3" was "MPEG".
