Are hairy chests making a comeback ?

About two months ago, a young, clean-shaven cute guy joined my department at work. He's a grad student, mid- 20s doing an internhsip. We have a 'business casual' dress code, and he always wears button-down shirts which he has unbuttoned at the top - just enough to get a peak at his chest, which looks nice and hairy. Sometimes we'll take lunch together, and we sit across from each other at the table in the staff lounge and have a nice conversation (despite our 35 year age difference). I can't help staring at his hairy chest - such a welcome change on a young guy. I sometimes have to ask him to repeat himself because I'm lost in a trance thinking what I'd do to his chest if given the chance. 

This afternoon a friend and I went to a nice restaurant for brunch. We had a cute, sexy waiter probably in his mid-20s, as well. His uniform was khakis and a black polo shirt, once again unbuttoned to reveal his nice hairy chest. We couldn't believe our eyes. My friend said he sees more and more younger guys at the gym with hairy chests, just like 'the old days'. 

Can it be younger men are going back to hairy bodies and not shaving every square inch of themselves below the neck?

I think it is! It is not only in NYC. First, facial hair became trendy, and now seeing unshaved bodies is more and more usual. I guess it is related to the body-positive trend, the wisdom behind embracing our physical diversity. 

Now, I only hope men and women stop manipulating their looks with plastic surgery and botox. I prefer "imperfect" faces and bodies.

I have to say, this has been an unusually warm October / November in my area (though that's about to change starting tomorrow).  I live near a college campus, and my neighborhood has plenty of 'off campus' housing (for the most part, the students are decent and neighborly, though sometimes not too well-behaved).  It's been such a pleasure to see the guys jogging through my streets with no shirt on, and showing off muscular hairy chests and hairy legs. It's like when I was a little kid growing up in the 70s and seeing 'older guys' (college age) with hairy chests on the beaches. Let's hope it continues.

There's one visiting provider I hire all the time. Mediterranean gorgeous looks, and olive skin. Jet black hair on his head and green eyes. Muscled, fit body. Then he takes his clothes off and not one hair below his neck. Not one. I can only imagine what he looks like 'natural' (which he has told me he's naturally hairy).

I actually prefer smooth, but if the comeback of hairy chests results in fewer men covering themselves with tattoos there then I'm all for it.

Forgive my ignorance but wasn't it primarily the muscle gays who were shaving their body hair ? I was unaware of this occurring in the general population.  I've always preferred natural body hair, and I especially find shaving pubes to be off-putting. If I see razor stubble on a provider's chest I pass them by immediately.

I think it spread to every body type over the decades. I know a few younger guys who I've hired (not muscular) say it's for hygienic reasons. One guy in his late 20s said he doesn't feel 'clean' with his body hair or crotch hair.

I believe they do (at least my straight friends who are Millennials). Same reasoning (hygiene) plus sports / exercise (if you are runner, tennis player, etc. you have an advantage with a clean-shaven body).

I think the tattoo era is here to stay... trying to find an escort without tattoos is difficult, I think at least 75% of them have them specially the younger crowd.

@Ali Gator If you watch gay porno from the 90's everybody looked the same: jock, speedo tanning line, smooth, cut, mostly white, no tattoos.  Since the 2010 there's more diversity including otters, cubs, daddy type, WASP jock, bearded, hipster, uncut, smooth or hairy ass, and folks of all ethnic groups.

I consider it a potentially promising sign that I've recently discovered some young "fitness influencers" on Instagram who have no tattoos.  Seems like it's been years since I've seen a young jock who was ink free, so I'm taking this as a promising sign.
