To everyone who has sent positive notes, or even better, made comments on here that are full of common sense and support: THANK YOU.

For everyone who has sent a nastygram, or continues to spread misinformation: We all have individual calculations to do about what we feel is safe, and the choices we make will have repercussions beyond ourselves. I hope your selfish and ignorant choices don't seriously harm your friends and family. I hope things work out for the best for you, and those you love.

You have been the voice of reason on the issue. People need to understand that the only way to stay out of the disease is to not have contact with anyone outside your household, and if you're outside you must have face covering, be socially distant, and wash your hands before and after you touch your face or any suspicious surfaces. Air purifier, having windows open, changing sheets and covers, disinfect surfaces - none of these would do any good for a facility offering massages. The contact during a session is too intimate and prolonged.

Thanks for posting. I too have missed getting massages and have been on the fence about getting one. I did go back in late summer when cases were down around here, but given the new super-spreading strain and the rise in cases I am hesitant to return.

Has anyone gotten sick after getting a massage with both masseur and client wearing masks? My understanding is that without proper ventilation in a small room for such a long time even if both are wearing masks the risk of transmission is very high. I wonder if that risk is lowered if you stay face down the whole time, with mask on? I agrew with OP, that it's probably not worth finding out at least for me.

This has been mentioned before on this forum but bears repeating: Those of us who can afford to do so should consider making donations to our favorite providers. Doing so might help them afford to temporarily halt their services.

I’ve done that in one case. Gave him some money to help with his rent.

One reason I have avoided massages during the pandemic is that my impression is most masseurs do multiple massages a day. Escorts on the other hand usually do not do multiple clients a day unless we’re talking about the high in demand ones who travel to major cities.

During the summer when transmission was low I continued to see escorts but spaced my dates to no more than one a month. Now with cases rising I’m hunkered down again like in the spring.

I pushed the envelope and took a couple chances, with both parties masked up, my HEPA filter running, “sanitized” hotel room, showers before for provider and me before/after, people I knew, no one new.etc.

but @big dale ‘s recent posting as well as LA county spiraling out of control last six weeks, was a wake up. I’m on hiatus until vaccinated. Thanks @big dale not what everyone wants to hear, but responsible postings.

I'm with the OP. I hate going without massage, but I'm not taking any chances with my health. No health = no life. Plus, everyone I know who caught Covid, no matter how mild, complains about their health not being the same. I'm sorry. There are too many unknowns with this virus. I'd rather stay virus free. I lasted this long without massage, I can last another year if necessary.

Almost every spa and massage parlor are open for business. There are protocols that can be followed for safety. All this OP is doing is scaring and shaming people to stay home instead of living their lives. A typical far left viewpoint that is decimating businesses and doing far more damage than the actual virus. Go google the stats on the virus.

I'm glad that you are still well, and hopefully you were never asymptomatic and inadvertently passing covid to others. Part of the reason why infection rates are so high is because some people do not take social distancing very seriously, and I can't imagine a way for massage to be done in a socially distant manner. Nor would it be comfortable with masks and PPE. I don't think the OP was trying to scare people, but just remind people of the very real risks involved. It's great that many masseurs follow proper protocols, but nobody is perfect and mistakes can happen. Stay well.

And I am tired of the opposite, people harassing others who know the risks and follow protocols. We cannot shut down again. Every mayor and gov has said the same, the economy will not survive. You are harassing people who are trying to just live and keep things going. If youre elderly, at risk, or in contact with them then stay home. Everyone else takes risks and follows protocols. Its impossible for everyone to just lock down again or quarantine for no reason.

We have tests now and multiple working vaccines, youre just encouraging the destruction of our economy. In my eyes, youre the selfish ones. COVID has not even overtaken heart disease or cancer in death rate, who even knows 100% if the attributed cause of death was correct as there are tampering and cases where they deem a death COVID when it is something else.

Your words sound to me like a conspiracy theory, not unlike the allegegations of voter fraud. Many people die OF covid, and many others die WITH covid. But this distinction does not alter the facts. Without covid 400,000 people in the USA would likely still be alive and many thousands more would not be suffering permanent damage. For many with underlying health issues, covid has tipped the balance - even if covid is not what they died 'from' it has certainly hastened their demise by destabilizing their health further.

How do you expect to be taken seriously when you say something this ridiculous, not to mention stunningly offensive to the dead and survivors alike?

Spare us the gaslighting and just say you don't give a shit what happens to anyone else and that you're going to do whatever you feel like doing.

I got sick in late February 2020 before everything shut down and before Covid tests were available where I live. I’m pretty sure it was Covid since I now have long-hauler symptoms, including shortness of breath, GI symptoms, headaches, and brain fog that makes reading and writing difficult. I wish the federal government had acted sooner on scientists‘ warnings about Covid. And I hope that more of us hold off on massages until we get a handle on this pandemic. Trust me, if you’re lucky enough to survive, you don’t want to become a long hauler.

Huh? What are you talking about? Last week Governor Cuomo has said its impossible to do another shut down, the city wouldn't survive. There are many other elected officials saying the same. The name of the game now is take precautions amd get vaccine and tested. You and people on the far left have this idea that everyone needs to quarantine. Its not right
