BgMstr4u Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 And now for something completely different. Lilyhammer. I love it! Comedy of contrasts.
marylander1940 Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8k1HCpqrBg "The cathedral by the sea" on Netflix. Life in the Middle Ageas sucked if you were born a serf.
TruthBTold Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 I am almost done with Dead To Me on Netflix. I have found this dark comedy really great. The acting is wonderful and the script is both funny and complex. Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini put in great performances throughout the series. James Marsden would have to just stand there and look pretty for me but he is really good acting also, tho his character (Cardellini's perhaps husband) is kind of an asshole. Ed Asner makes an on-going appearance. Valerie Mahaffey is Applegate's grating and hateable mother-in-law. It is well worth a watch. I ready that a second season was released a couple of weeks ago and from what I have read it is even better than the first. I plan on watching that. James Marden: thomas, MscleLovr and Danny-Darko 3
+ E.T.Bass Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) I binge watched The Family tonight, on Netflix, a 5 part documentary about a political organization of allegiance to Jesus and power that has lasted for decades. https://www.netflix.com/title/80063867?s=a&trkid=13747225&t=cp Edited May 25, 2020 by E.T.Bass
+ EVdude Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Anyone watch The Witcher? Not the depth of Thrones or Rings, and the plot and time jumps are confusing at first, but I was immersed and engaged. Certainly enjoyed the Henry Cavill beefcake shots. Have to wait until at least 2021 for season 2.
TruthBTold Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 As to Dead To Me I don't feel so bad that I find Sam McCarthy (Charlie in Dead To Me) utterly attractive because at least he is 18 years old. I thought I was having a Roman Polanski moment. MikeBiDude 1
MscleLovr Posted May 26, 2020 Posted May 26, 2020 I agree with your enthusiasm for ‘Dead To Me’ @TruthBTold. I enjoy the dark humour and I’m gripped by Season 2 so far. MikeBiDude 1

I am almost done with Season 2 and have enjoyed it. There are obviously some new characters that have been introduced and I have liked them. I will be interested how you like all of Season 2. marylander1940 1
leeper Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 I have been watching quite a few series on Netflix and Hulu. My favorites so far are: Babylon Berlin (Netflix) - historical fiction, but I was totally taken in by the stories Upload (Prime Video) - mostly due to Robbie Amell Normal People (Hulu) this is a hetero story of young love, but I found the male lead, Paul Mescal, so damn attractive and he doesn't shy away from nudity.
+ Cash4Trash Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I really enjoyed Merli on Netflix even though they only did one season and the French crime drama Spiral streams on Prime. + g56whiz 1

I thought I was having a Roman Polanski moment. And of course he’s cute, he’s Andrew McCarthy’s son. I swooned for Andrew back in the day. I just started watching the first season based on a friend’s recommend. And I was pleasantly surprised to see all the grief counseling scenes in the park were filmed on location just blocks from where I live. + WilliamM and MscleLovr 2
MscleLovr Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I just started watching the first season You’re in for a treat @MikeBiDude. And I think you’ll like Season 2 just as much. No spoilers here but they wrap up the story in a very satisfying manner, while leaving a few possible threads that they could develop in a potential Season 3. + pitman Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Just discovered DERRY GIRLS on Netflix. Quite hilarious. Turn on the subtitles if you have problems with the thick Irish accent. TruthBTold 1
thickornotatall Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Finished The Americans...sorry it ended....Wanted to watch Homeland on Prime Showtime....The first episode is free...after unless I subscribe to Showtime $2.99 per episode I tried Mr Robot...too tragic and downbeat + EVdude and Danny-Darko 2
harlow Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Recommendations: 7 seconds. Underrated series about police corruption. The Keepers. Documentary series about a nun's murder connected to a pedophile ring in the catholic church. Not a series but a movie. "The Clan" about an Argentinian crime family. Guilty pleasures: You. But only the first season. Why Women Kill. American Vandal. Second season. Avoid: The Outsider (the first two episodes are good then it goes off the rails) The Stranger London Spy Liar Gold digger Kiri Sharp Objects What if You (Second season) and the worst of all: The Dublin Murders Man 7 Seconds was awesome but it had me HEATED!!!!

TruthBTold Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Just discovered DERRY GIRLS on Netflix. Quite hilarious. Turn on the subtitles if you have problems with the thick Irish accent. I definitely plan on watching this, thanks. However, I have found that the older I get I turn on the subtitles to watch everything, even if they are speaking plain old Midwestern English. I think the more you do it the more you are apt to.

+ poolboy48220 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Either that, or the "rewind" feature to listen again to something you missed. My Roku has a great closed caption option, "Only caption for rewinds", just for people like me.

My Roku has a great closed caption option, "Only caption for rewinds", just for people like me. Now that’s a cool feature I must investigate! I have multiple Roku but use them mainly for travel. I also have AppleTV but since buying a Sony/Android-type TV earlier this year I find myself using all the built in apps for streaming and never go to my external inputs.
