This thread demonstrates the end of the world for me. I have never been a phone person. But when I was working, I had a separate phone line for business, and when I didn't use an answering machine, I hired someone to take my calls.
I get that. Materials and services cost more these days. The ends have to justify the means.
Nobody works 24/7. If you are in the service business, and you don't allow time to deal with customer inquiries, how can anyone expect to attract a new customer? Ignoring customer contact, especially for new customers, does not make business sense. I do realize there are restaurants now that do not take phone reservations because they don't want to pay for the service. The restaurant business is a low-profit margin business, so I can almost accept that, given what it costs to employ someone these days. However, if that is your business model, and you're charging more than $100 for a meal, I won't be your customer. If a provider does not acknowledge my attempt at communication within 3 days, I move on. I can't take their sense of business seriously.
New customers cannot be in my Contact List. You had to be a customer first before you got on the list. For many decades, I built my business from people I did not know having to call me first in order to consider hiring me. I had no choice but to sell my service to a complete stranger over the phone. Today, the internet helps with advertising, but, in certain businesses, it is no replacement for human contact. If you choose to end human contact in a service business, then you might as well say goodbye to the business.

Sure, I don't need to talk to someone over the phone before hiring, but you better offer email, or I will never contact you for a hire. I don't own a smartphone. I may never own a smartphone. I can't text, period. You want to make me text in order to hire you? Not going to happen.
I never hated a phone call from a prospective customer. Without the phone, I had no other way to build my business. The phone to me was equal to making a living.

Does it have to be that way? Is this not an example of the business being cheap or lazy? If you don't care about your business, if you are not fully committed to making money, then I suppose some of this nonsense makes sense. But, for me, the idea of creating a business, or taking time, energy, and money to build one, the goal should be, might be, wanting success. If you have no interest in success, then why bother?
It's obvious to me that many guys only want to dabble at making money. Tip the toe into the water as long as it suits me and my needs just fine. The minute I have to work too hard, then fuck it. Fuck the customer. Sorry guys, for the life of me, I don't see this as a road to success. Good luck with that.

You shouldn't assume this for everyone.  From posts on here, many people book from rm for the extras.  The city can be lonely to people (I know, you will say, if you are lonely here, then you will be lonely everywhere...)These masseurs would not be in business if there wasn't that need.

I suggest you move on and don’t look back. This young man obviously doesn’t care about you or your time. Take your money and invest it elsewhere.

When I visited London last year, my hires (massage and escort) pretty much were all very friendly, and we had conversation at the end.  Nobody was rushing me out the door like here in NYC.  In particular was an American ex-pat that I had a long conversation with who extolled the benefits of living in London/UK versus where he was from in the U.S.  This was a late night session as well.  Some providers here in NYC barely say hello to me.     

Recently, I got a massage from someone eho said he wasn't contagious, but was getting over a cold.  He wore a mask during the massage.  I heard him clear his nose during the massage.  I caught a bad cold I think from him.  I should have not had the massage.

I told him after the fact, and he told me I should have told him while the message was going on it to ease up.  He said he is used to massaging body builders who want it hard.

I am very direct in my first message, typically asking for the rate and are you available today.  A lot of these providers are free spirits, they literally don't know where they will be in two weeks.  Some of these people are here today, gone tomorrow.  If you are thinking of booking an appointment like you do your doctor, very few providers act that professionally, and you are better off going to Massage Envy.  I read reviews here to get the lowdown on their massage, I wouldn't want to play 20 questions with a potential client either when I know most people in general aren't serious about booking an appointment.

Whenever it is dark in the room after the massage, and I can't see well, I always ask for the light to be turned on.  I want to make sure I don't leave anything behind, for instance.  Also, I always count the money at least two times before handing it over.
