I do not play a doctor on TV but I am one in real life..   If you want to be totally safe, continue to be abstinent.  If you want to be as safe as you can reasonably expect to be, start Prep for at least two weeks and be faithful about taking it.  Do not start it until you are sure you are going to proceed as there is no reason to subject yourself to potential side effects if you are not committed.  
As to finding a man, go to RentMen and go to the listings for your area or the largest area within a reasonable travel for a weekend.  Look at each of the photos and read the comments.  Once you have narrowed down the field, come here with a list and ask for recommendation.  I suggest looking at all the ads as you never know what might strike your fancy and if you use the checklist, that man may have been passed over. 
As to the event itself, the first time I met with a man, my story was very similar to yours.  It is not a unique tale, n fact, it is common enough to be considered mundane.  So once, I got to the hotel and the escort arrived,. it took a bit of encouragement to start to do anything and once I got started it took all the willpower I had to stop.  Did not get to anal on my first encounter, nor my second encounter, which took place the next night nor my third encounter, which came two days later.  I then arranged an overnight while I was away on a trip and I finally had the time and was relaxed enough to try anal, as a top.   Many many men later, I decided to try bottoming and found it was not for me.  It took about 5 encounters to even get to the point where I was actually entered.  Word to the wise, do not become inpatient and just blurt out "just push the fucking thing in". My best advice, as opposed to Curious ByNature, do not wait for the perfect man and the perfect time or you may find that there is no perfect man nor perfect time.  But once you start to appreciate and accept your desires, almost any time can be the perfect time and you just need to allow your partner to be the perfect man.  If not, move on to the next one.  

First, welcome to the forum. I can only provide (and maybe) some insights based on my own experiences, but by now you might know that different people experience different things.
I didn't struggle with feelings afterwards when I decided to finally hire because I did not hire until I was sure that I was not going to have feelings of regret, shame, embarassment or anything negative that can impact my wellbeing. (Probably like you are doing now) I decided that it was more workable for me if I worked on those feelings and their source first. I rarely take actions that I am not 100% sure I can take without consequences. What I found in my case were the typical twisted notions of sex within a client/provider setting coming from my Christian upbrining, which were quite hypocritical and inappropriate. Something else that I found was that I was already paying and had paid for sex many, many times before in other ways:
Going to bath houses Going to peepshows Going to adult movie places Paying for drinks at a bar to a guy I'm interested in Going to sex parties None, not a one of those things are free, and the purpose of all of them is sex. So yes, I have been paying for sex for quite some time.
Then there's the convenience factor. Some of the service that I have looked for in providers have to do with my overal mental and physical wellbeing; it's noit just sexual pleasure alone. Others look for a deeper connection in the form of a "boyfriend experience".
Like you, I am married and I have no interest in having any committed relationship with another person. My husband does not/cannot provide everything there is for me to have in terms of physical or sexual contact (no need to get into details on that).
I also found that something that helped was the use of sensual and erotic massages since it is meant to be a relaxing, "put you at ease" experience with sensual/sexual elements.
I'm not a provider, so I will not comment on the question that you have to them. I defer to expertise on that.

Just want to say everyone should respect respect and privacy. As a consumer I respect providers. I couldn't do their job. There are a few who are exemplary in their service to us consumers. And a lot who do a really great job providing physical, intellectual.,social, emotional, etc satisfaction with ease and a smile and hug. Feeling Thankful!!!

We replaced our old gas gravity heater with a heat pump a few years ago. Agreed, so easy to use and effective, and now we have A/C as well. Same as a lot of people here, 62 at night, 67 first thing in morning, and 65 the rest of the day. 72 during the day in the summer.

Yes, forget LAX, Burbank or Ontario, particularly if you're returning Monday morning. The Coachella festival is the same weekend, and the Monday traffic jam heading back towards LA is legendary.
If for some reason PSP isn't working for you, the only suggestion I'd have is fly into San Diego and rent a car. You'll still get into some traffic but nothing like the traffic going in and out of LA. And the route over the mountain from Temecula to Palm Desert is beautiful and fun to drive if you're in a sports car.

You might consider adding a link to your advertisement if you have one.  That may spark some interest in a more privat meeting during the time you are in PS, unless it is a non working trip.

MAL is an event which can only be understood in attending.  No written word can quite describe the debauchery which one might encounter  and or participate in doing.  I attended about 5 of these Forum Mettups including the first one at Annies for Brunch.  The weather was actually quite nice and the the fellowship was refreshing.  The others I attended were always a fun weekend but the number of attendees waxed and waned.  I was one that tried to Nate to get it off the ground again in 2022 without success.  
Some of us recall the most scandalous and controversial occurrence in all the forum meetings occurring during an early MAL meeting.  Ah the drama.  It had everything one could want in a scandal and there was a substantial hold over after the weekend was over.  Do not contact me for details, because unlike other orifices of other people that weekend, my lips are sealed.  
 
 

For those who are not familiar with it, this was a gathering of forum members coinciding with MAL and the MLK weekend. It was originally organized by a very active member of this forum so that he could meet other East Coast members. It started with just a brunch at Annie's, then expanded to include a visit to the Secret's strip club, a happy hour at MAL, and some other events here and there. I think it reached its pinnacle about 10 or 12 years ago, with perhaps around 30 people attending.
The original organizers are no longer participating in this forum, so over the years since various people (including me) have jumped in to organize it. The last time was an attempt for the 2022 weekend, but at that time we were still coming out of the pandemic and there was only a handful of people expressing interest in attending. Then DC implemented masking restrictions in response to a winter Covid spike, and we called it off.
Interest had been waning in recent years, particularly once Secret's closed. For me, the visit to Secret's was a big highlight, and I expect it was for others too. But the most common complaint was it's just too damn cold in DC in January, so thanks but no thanks. And traveling during the winter is not fun.
I think it was great at its prime, but at least in my opinion has played itself out. Of course some may have other opinions!
