I know several people who work as an escort on rentmen because I saw their profiles on the website. I am envious of them. I am a broke Asian student who can't afford to do many things outside school. I am an international student.

 

So I seriously think of working as an escort. I am gay and it will be a good gig because I can make money while having fun. 

 

I am also a little worried about the risks. There are mainly 2 things.

 

○ identity. 

I need to upload my ID and my selfie photo for my holding my ID. This seems to be very risky.

I have no plans to put my face pictures.

 

 

○ career opportunity.  

Im a little worried about risking a good career after school. Im concerned about losing good job opportunities after a background check. Do you think putting up a profile on rentmen can make me not able to pass employment background check?

 

 

○ am i overthinking and overanalyzing?

There might be people who just offer massage or some companion experience on the website. Not everyone there is an escort. Putting up a profile doesnt necessarily translate to working as an escort. So employers might not take an issue with that.

 

can you guys give me opinions on these? Would you upload your ID and photos? Would you risk your career? You can send me a message if you dont feel comfortable leaving a comment publicly. I wonder if there is anyone who had to go through some consequences after working as an escort in terms of career and friendship and future opportunities.

I think higher returns always bring higher risks.  Maybe it might make sense for the providers you know to share with you how they reconciled those same concerns and whether they think it’s worth the risk.

If you're concerned about future employers finding out you escorted, then don't do it. While I personally think escorting and sex work are legitimate jobs (sex work = work), a lot of employers probably don't. But, to be honest, I'm not sure a background check will pick up on escorting, especially if you use a pseudonym and have no face pics in your profile.  Let us know if you decide to post an ad!

Figure out a way to submit a fake I.D. to RM. It can't be that difficult. The person who pays for the ad does not have to be the person in the ad. If you think your future might include a background check, never use your legal name for anything suspicious.

As far as identity if you aren't using face pictures it will help with identity issues.  At the same time clients can and will ask for a face picture before meeting.  While you can let them know not to share it once you share the picture with them you have no control over where that picture shows up.  As far as career opportunities just be smart, don't attach your real name to any photos, etc...  

There are many other risks beyond those that come with escorting such as keeping yourself protected from potential STD and meeting with clients who could potentially be crazy and try to harm you.  Make sure you screen and get an idea so you know who you are meeting with.

This is especially good advice in this day and age.  

I was a broke-ass undergraduate student many decades ago, and that was with a part time job while attending school full time.  I get the attraction of doing something more lucrative, but if you really are drawn to do this I think it would make more sense to learn massage and then advertise on a masseur website.  You could always offer more in person if it feels right, and then you won't have an online footprint connecting you with sex work.  You still have the issue of whether you are legally allowed to work here outside of on-campus jobs.  Do you want to finish your studies here or are you willing to risk deportation because you have been working in an unauthorized capacity and that's been discovered (or reported) to ICE?

As a foreign student, you DO risk your immigration status if you break the rules about work, whether you're a barrista or sucking cock for cash. So THAT should be your biggest concern. 

As far as escorting ...you can also be in trouble with immigration under "sex trafficking" rules if youre not appropriately discreet. 

I would suggest you discuss with other providers who travel in and out of the country and I would also suggest you start by offering massage services first. THAT keeps one legal problem away from you while you deal with the other.  Having a profile on Rentmasseur instead of Rent.men is not unusual for young guys who want a little more discretion in their life.

THAT is TERRIBLE advice. 

Just because political activists are being targeted for deportation does NOT mean the movement against sex-trafficking has reduced, nor the authority of the IRS to go after people working in the US undocumented.

Foreign students are VERY MUCH under the eye of Government for all kinds of infractions of the law today.

Make sure you have the right VISA which allows employment, and report the income and pay taxes.

Without the authorization to work for income, your best option is to enjoy sex in your 20s the best you can.  While you can't take appointments for money, network in person and find men who  will take you out to dinner and entertainment in exchange for sex at the end (aka, a "date", which is how women have been monetizing their inner slut for decades!).

Considering all the great points others have made here. If i was you, what i would do to "get around" all these potential danger points is ask your friends who do escort on RentMen to put on their profiles that they offer "4 hand massage" or "can set up 3sum or groups". This tells their clients that they have friends they can bring in (also for hire) to the experience. A client would reach out to your friend through their ad, maybe ask about a group experience, and then your friend could show the potential client just some regular photos of you that are public like screenshotted from your Instagram for example. This lets the client see you, you be hired alongside your friend (which helps with physical safety when you get there), get paid in cash, all without having any hard digital evidence that ties you to your own escort account because if the only photos being shared of you are publicly available photos then you have plausible deniability if somehow a screenshot from the DM with the client leaks or whatever.

I honestly tried a massage job on massage webite thanks to the help of a massuer I hired for therapeutic massage. He liked me and helped me.

But the problem was people who hire massuers tend to be cheap and expect to have sex paying less than 200 dollars. Which i dont like. Why bother working for people who prefer to get escort like service for way less money?

I guess the clients are different on those 2 website. RM has more people who are willing to pay more while the other has more people who want to get massage and pay less for something extra. I really want to expose myself to people who are willing to spend money....

What you said is partially true. But there are always ICE agents looking for performance bonuses that depend on how many immigrants that they apprehend and deport. So escorting on a F1 visa definitely carries some risk.

There are definitley men who try and get masseurs to "go all the way" and have sex for the price of a massage. But its not the RULE. I have met many masseurs over the years and many of them offered sexual services once we had already established a friendly working relationship. It never occurred to me thay their additional intimate offerings should be priced the same as a massage. Even the few times ive had a massage go full service in the middle of the session . ..I was always sure to pay what I woukd have paid an escort, by tipping exceedingly well.

Massage is a gateway to sex services but it may require you to get men to RETURN for a specific appointment instead if trying to milk a $200 massage session.
