SthJrsy Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 I’m a massage therapist in WeHo and it’s been so slow lately! Am I alone?? + 7829V and TallMuscl37 1 1
LA90046 Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 I had three massage therapists I have seen in the past reach out to me this week about booking a session or offering discounts. You are not alone.
Johnrom Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 High inflation continues to squeeze discretionary income 😭unfortunately. + 7829V, + Vegas_Millennial and pubic_assistance 1 2

I been talking about this regularly on here. I’m in the Midwest, and I just try to travel every couple weeks to stay busy. I been saying it for a long time, that RentMen and Masseur: I know they’re doing what they can, but I have urged them to do more. Bring back rates would be a start. Even if it’s named differently. The good news is, there’s still clients out there. Surprisingly, I seem to make more per booking, even though bookings are fewer. I’m also trying to go with longer sessions, versus resorting to discounting visits: as that would require taking on more volume. Edited April 13, 2024 by Jarrod_Uncut Johnrom and + Vegas_Millennial 2

DWnyc Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Rates seem to be coming down in NYC Providers seem more proactive trying to convert enquiries to a booking. Seems less “I don’t have time for these basic questions” and more “did I answer everything?”’and “you said you might be interested, just checking” a few days later … + KensingtonHomo, + Pensant, + Vegas_Millennial and 1 other 3 1
+ Pensant Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Then again, I reached out to a new provider twice and “crickets”. Some must be doing well. DWnyc 1
Your Man in Arlington Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Just in the past couple of months a few providers I've met with before have reached out to ask if I'm interested in getting together again. They've all been tasteful, pleasant and respectful and it's worked (good marketing!), I've re-booked with all of them. More to the point of this topic, this is a new phenomenon for me and I was wondering if there was a general slowdown in the market. pubic_assistance, marylander1940, Moke and 1 other 2 2

soloyo215 Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 I think combination of all of the above, tax season, inflation, saturated market, election year, climate change (ok, those last two were made up, please have a sense of humor). I myself am booking less and saving more due to the uncertainties of the economy at this point. The bigger influences of my slowing down are the mixed messages about the state of the current economy. However, I do see a lot more new providers, which might be saturating the market. Redwine56, SthJrsy and pubic_assistance 2 1
SthJrsy Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 I had a facial and massage business I opened in 2016 that I had to close this year due to the economy. Many of my clients work in entertainment , so the LA strikes took me out. The economy is proving to still be tough. pubic_assistance, + DrownedBoy and + Vegas_Millennial 1 2

I have a good friend who is a film editor and the contraction of film and TV production due to the strikes and Marvel bubble are definitely impacting the entertainment industry. And then inflation is hitting us all, which means less disposable income. ☹️ SthJrsy 1

+ JamesB Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 I'm still hiring at my usual pace, maybe even a bit more. However, I've observed two trends: Providers who rarely traveled before are now on the move more frequently, and I'm receiving a significant increase in messages from past providers wanting to meet again. + Pensant, Lohengrin1979, liubit and 3 others 4 2
MikeBiDude Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Most businesses I’ve had experience with or consulted with…will tell you that raising prices decreases customer visits/frequency. On the escort side of things (perhaps not masseurs) perhaps the big rates being asked lately is actually slowing down visits/frequency? + Vegas_Millennial, + Pensant, pubic_assistance and 1 other 4

Thelatin Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Between inflation and the taxes I just doled out I've been on a little break. I've been looking - but in order for me to open up my wallet they'd really have to be my cup of tea. I notice one of my regular providers is having to travel to a new city every 2-3 days. I also noticed the "extra" costs of this hobby when I checked my credit card balance....hotels, dinners, uber etc. I like to do the whole boyfriend experience. So just paid off that bill. Slow down buddy.... + Vegas_Millennial, + DrownedBoy, pubic_assistance and 2 others 5
