Worst cities to escort

Heck, I wasn't even asking for 300 but 250 (in American dollars).

I hate to break this to you, but that is exactly what you were doing. You were in Canada, prices are in Canadian dollars. You were asking for $340 (in CAD). People there don't give a toss what your price is in American dollars, or Vietnamese dong for that matter. They also don't care what your rate would be in New York. All they care about is the price in Canadian dollars and how that compares to the market rate in the city you're in. (Some people may be prepared to allow you some leeway on your rate because you are from the US, or to be prepared to pay you in the USD equivalent of your Canadian rate, but you would be unwise to expect it.)

I hired a US escort who I had previously met in the US when he was in Sydney. He told me he didn't know the rates here so I asked him his US rate and paid that (I hadn't settled a price and had AUD and USD on me). If it had been a new guy I wouldn't have done that, I'd have expected him to have an Australian rate and only hired him if I thought it was worth it for a hire in Sydney.

Mike, for whatever it's worth I didn't adjust my rates for Canada when I was in Canada and nobody made a fuss or moaned about it. Canadians that visit Palm Springs every year also don't fuss or moan about my fees.

I have no doubt that you could do that, your reputation precedes you. People know what they are getting, or if you are new to them they can see from your ad what you have to offer. Once So Curious has established himself and his reputation he may also be able to command the equivalent of his US rate when abroad, but until then he may have to consider the going rate where he is visiting.

Like the PS snowbirds, I know US rates are what they are and don't try to assess them based on the AUD conversion.

I spent 3 days in Montreal and couldn't book anything. The three "clients" I talked to before traveling there were all flakes. People in Quebec don't seem to be into hiring escorts it seems. They thought my prices were too high. Most wanted to pay the equivalent to 120-150 American dollars when I was charging 250. Also, so many flakes stealing my energy and time to fulfill their fantasy sexting me. It's becoming annoying. At the end I couldn't even cover my spendings in Canadá during my trip. Now I'm in debt.

I once saw a traveling masseur, I think he was from Florida - it was his first time in San Francisco and he was very disappointed - I was his only client.  He said he probably wouldn't be back.   Since then, he has started visiting here regularly and he always lets me know that he is coming.  I can''t believe he would keep coming back if it wasn't worth his while.

Well that goes along with what I mentioned earlier about cities being better or worse depending on: no reason at all.

I remember I had a bad trip to SF when “someone“ first got elected back in 2016. The city was in protest, and nobody came out to play. I think I had only one or 2 clients, maybe even one flaked.

If that was my first trip, I’d have a bad impression. But having gone prior, I knew it was just a one off thing. Though annoying because I only do that trip once every 2-3 years. My last visit in 2022 was better. Also be aware: just because someone visits a city doesn’t mean it’s solely for appointments. For example, I have to come back to my home market regularly because: my life and relatives are here. If it wasn’t for that, I would have 86’d Kansas City/St. Louis off my travels long time ago. Waiting around for days to get a booking is not my speed at all.

When I’m in touring mode, I normally don’t give a city more than a day or 2 to book. If no clients by day 2, at noon: Next ✌

I assume that when an escort or a masseur keeps coming back, it's becasue he found it worthwhile.  "Worthwhile" can mean a lot of things - maybe he comes back because he "left his heart" in San Francisco.  The point is that he said he would probably never come back and now visits regularly, so in one way or another, it seems to be working for him.

Well perhaps inquire, and see what the response is. Might be the same or different than what you have in mind.

Again, impossible to establish a ‘going’ rate, but related discussion keeps the board lubricated I suppose.

This summer in Montreal a bilingual Brazilian that straddles both sides of the border. 400USD in north-east USA quadrant listed. Offered 200CAD(150USD). Fun enough but would not repeat; nothing to do with the choreography and my sense was I didn’t get a ‘half-portion’ (the withholding or upsell attempt type of dynamic) based on amount, but just didn’t click. Yet possess the historical capacity to click at a repeat rate of 150-200 same guy bookings at 300CAD here. But sealing that recent deal by old-timey verbal phone convo took all of 2 minutes and I arrived on foot at the exact appointed time. So no time where for him time is money squandered. He earned commensurate with an upper price tier lap dance sesh.  I merely sucked up 60 minutes of what seemed to be otherwise his late afternoon chill time.

Next slide Toronto summer visit. OF dude lusted after for some years. Only ever profile earning more than 1 month ponied up by me among some half dozen or more total hottie inventory platform purchases over past few years. Ad-negative. 400CAD(300USD) of an early evening; and same deal the following mid morning. Rating; Top 5 spanning over 3 decades.

An experience like that can tide me over for several weeks, months even. Moreover, embedded 1:1 memories supplementing cache of images. No problemo with forking over 400CAD regularly in Montreal for someone like that. As I already suggested, the unique option that may actually have the flavour of hen’s teeth level incidence can earn the equivalent of a single faithful punter’s provincial or federal income tax, tax-exempt for the other. That said, the fickleness of enthusiasm may come into play in unpredictable fashion.

Market value is often illusory. It be like all meals would run at equivalent to St-Hubert tab for typical chicken dinner combo. Say what?

One time, I hired a guy in Vancouver.  I paid in loonies and the exchange rate was extremely favorable to the US dollar.  Since I was thinking in terms of exchange rates, it seemed to me like he was working for peanuts and I offered to pay more than his rate in loonies.  He said no, that was fine. It didn't occur to me that he could care less about the exchange rate - that a loonie was a loonie and still had the same buying power, whatever the exchange rate was.

That, along with pay range, in Brazil multiples of the above. I can feel like a skinflint even with the occasional more opportunistic provider upsell trends.

The Vancouver condom wrapping would itself have been predictive of the apologist battle …

I'm interested in hearing about people's experience with the Windy City .... I have quite an interesting take  and experience with  the city that has been fighting with Houston Texas as the nations 3rd largest city.

I find I do best in; smaller enclave cities that aren’t so frequented. Tucson in Arizona, Santa Fe in New México, Oklahoma (though it’s not as busy like it used to be when I would go years show), Salt Lake City; Boise, Idaho…

I've found this too, I do well in the secondary cities. Last year I had a great time in Baltimore for example, meeting some solid clients (one of whom had me join him on a trip a few months later). There was also enough demand to stay longer if my schedule had allowed it.

It can be a bruise to one's ego if you ask whether they are hiring you because they're really into you, or are they just hiring because there are few local choices. But in the end, who cares! The important thing is that you're being hired.

I agree with the others that you need to advertise further in advance to get the right exposure. Try two or even three weeks in advance. You need to give people a bit of time to mull things over.

I concur. Secondary cities work best for me. Then again, I don’t have abs. I would never make it visiting in the big metros. I stay very busy in the medium to smaller markets, and I don’t care if I’m the best looking guy to grace their scene or not.

Clients like and value my work, and from what they say, they like how I look too. I keep a humble head on my shoulders though. I hear positive comments about my appearance from from people booking me, but not all the comments from all the ones who decide NOT to book me based on how I look. In a way that’s a healthy boost, but I know my appeal is not universal, and that’s fine. The important thing is that I’m in demand, busy working and earning.

Also, clients mostly hire me for massage. Skill matters, so even if I’m not their peak fantasy guy, I offer lots of value in my skills. Same goes for escorting. Looks are important, but how I make the client feel is even more important.

When I strategically select cities, I do well. That means no NYC, no LA. I have a masseur friend in SF who lets me use his place when I’m visiting, so I will go there, when I otherwise wouldn’t consider that market.

It is a big city with a lot of things to offer except high quality providers. On my last two trips to Chicago, I failed to find a suitable provider. However, I had a lot of luck on hookup apps.

I've been there many times with clients for the weekend none of which lived there. In fact, me and another provider that's now retired used to visit Chicago together with this client semi regularly.... only two or three times a few years later did I go back and stay on my own... I did OK, certainly didn't count crickets but for being what is the third largest city in the nation I would have expected to do a little better. Me and my friend who is now retired had a mutual client that lived there and he asked us both at different times how we did in the Windy City and we said "pretty OK" not setting it on fire and he was baffled but wasn't surprised because R. Sager told him the same thing Just prior to his passing. At least for me it continues to be another wonder of the world lol. 😂

How are Philadelphia, Boston and Baltimore for the business? D. C. I heard is a decent market. I am tempting to try there soon. We'll see.

I can only speak for myself, but Boston historically has been very good,  DC probably per capita, the best. I've only done an overnight weekend with somebody in Philadelphia so I've never stayed there on my own nor have I ever posted up in Baltimore. @socurious if it were me I would post an ad 2-3 weeks prior to going to a new city, put your feelers out and that could give you an estimate of how long to remain in the respective city. Good luck 👍🏽 🙏🏽

Incidentally, years ago, when I first got into the business, I used to only advertise in San Diego and Los Angeles, and what I found interesting is that people from Atlanta, Washington DC, New York City, and Palm Springs were reaching out to me asking when I'm coming to visit their cities....  I had a hunch and a suspicion that those places would have excellent markets even before I visited.

I had a question for providers here:

Is it common to travel to cities that don't have many RM listed, and charge higher prices, to take advantage of locals?

I found a guy in rural Wisconsin with 2 reviews, and he wanted 1K for 2 hours. I pointed out how high that was, and he told me to "take it or leave it." I laughed at him and left it.

That's a great question and I can't speak for anybody else, but I wouldn't ever charge more than my regular honorarium for a lack of better words  just because I'm in a certain area but the same thing works in reverse. I don't reduce my honorarium because I'm going to a certain area.

There is something to be said for taking the road less traveled. I've never made a habit of going to those types of places, but I know of a couple providers that do very well in places that would surprise most.  And good on you for telling that guy to hit the road jack 😂
