I don't think the dispute here is between men who like/dislike deodorant/cologne. Though I shouldn't speak for @SecretProvider, I doubt he would have objected if the client had showered and cleaned what needed to be cleaned, then came out smelling shower-fresh. He objected because the client smelled like shit and BO.
(Though I also believe the norm in America is to smell neutral or pleasant, not of BO. If you prefer BO, that's outside the norm, and you should flag. If you dislike deodorant, maybe suggest to provider/client, "let's take a shower together first, no deodorant needed afterward." If partner declines, you're on different pages.)
But bathing? Come on. If your mama would find skidmarks, you haven't bathed (or wiped) properly. Maybe invest in a bidet?
