Attention! - 19th Annual Palm Springs Weekend, 2022

Recommended Posts

Please mark your calendars for the Weekend – April 9, 10 and 11, 2022.  Specifics will not be posted here, in order to preserve confidentiality.  Therefore, if you are serious about attending this year’s events, please send an e-mail to me (if you know my address) or a “private message” with your return e-mail address so that I may send you the pertinent information as it unfolds.  Your confidential information will be respected, as I expect mine to be.

The first order of business will be Saturday dinner reservations at a local contemporary restaurant, followed by RSVP’s for the Sunday pool gathering at my temporary residence, followed by Monday morning reservations at a local popular breakfast restaurant.  This year, we will introduce the ability to prepay the dinner fee prior to the event via either PayPal or Venmo.

With the current virus situation, we will be constrained by the regulations of Riverside County and the city of Palm Springs in effect at the time of the Weekend.  At the present time that limits indoor restaurant dining to wearing masks upon entry and when not at your table.  This may change by the time of the Weekend.  I will keep you informed.

If you will be bringing a “guest”, please tell me who. That information will also be kept confidential, unless you say otherwise. Attendance by escorts (by themselves or as someone's guest) is greatly encouraged.

If you will be coming from out-of-town and need accommodations, you should arrange for those ASAP, if you have not already. There have been several suggestions put forth in the previous thread concerning possible accommodations.

Again, the dinner will be early Saturday evening, April 9, the pool gathering will be in the afternoon of Sunday, April 10, and the breakfast will be Monday morning.

If you have any questions, please ask in your e-mail or message.  I look forward to renewing acquaintances and meeting new ones!  Come and enjoy!

I thought the indoor mask mandate in California was lifted for fully vaccinated individuals? Or are there counties or cities still enforcing one?

Local jurisdictions (counties and cities) are allowed to mandate their own mask restrictions..  Riverside County in which Palm Springs in located has lifted mask restrictions BUT the city of Palm Springs has not.  To the best of my knowledge all cities surrounding Palm Springs (Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, etc) have lifted their indoor mask requirements.  If Covid19 numbers continue to drop I would guess that the city of Palm Springs will be forced to drop their indoor mask requirements as well.  I would also guess that by the time of the Palm Springs Weekend Palm Springs will be mask free as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

According to the latest regulations in Palm Springs concerning the virus, there are none.  They expired last Monday, March 1.  Masks and proof of vaccination are no longer required.  However, individual businesses may still have their own conditions.  None of the places we will use do.

Meanwhile let me hear from you if you have not already responded as to whether you will attend.  I will be sending specific information in a couple of weeks.

Hey everybody. So I just found out that Inndulge upgraded my April reservation to one of their suites. This means that the extra-large (and pretty comfortable) couch in the photo will be available if there happens to be anyone who was interested in attending the weekend and didn’t make a reservation for whatever reason. I’ve made this offer the last couple of years I’ve stayed at Inndulge and it’s worked out great. Both the bedroom and the living room have their own doors to the outside and there’s a door separating the two, so my snoring shouldn’t keep anyone up. The only caveats would be the bathroom is on the living room side of the door and I also might need to sneak through to make an early morning cup of coffee in the kitchen.

I’m currently scheduled to arrive on Thursday, April 7 and check out Monday, April 11, but I have been toying with the idea of staying an extra night and leaving on Tuesday. I’m still trying to figure out my own transportation to and from Los Angeles, but hopefully that’ll get sorted. If someone’s interested, but has their own wish list (i.e. time in the space with me elsewhere), that’s something we can discuss. Feel free to share this with anyone you know who might be interested.

COVID may have disappeared from Palm Springs by April. From the Desert Sun:

Riverside County's COVID-19 cases continued to decline this week, putting the numbers at 7.5% of what they were about a month ago.

Between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4, Riverside County reported 8,861 cases. Since then, cases have "dropped dramatically," Public Health Officer Dr. Geoffrey Leung said

There were just 667 new COVID-19 cases between Monday and Friday. That's down 47% from the previous week, when there were 1,252 cases reported between Feb. 28 and March 4.

On Friday, the county's case rate was 7.9 per 100,000 residents, with a positivity rate of 3.7%. Both rates are down from Monday: 12.0 per 100,000 and 5.3%.

Lucky, sorry to hear about your niece and her husband. Hopefully like many others who are contracting it after being vaccinated their case is similar to that of a mild cold.  Like the flu we are probably going to have to learn to live with Covid19.  We simply cannot continue indefinitely living with the entire country closed-down and quarantined.

If some of you who are planning on attending haven't yet notified Oliver please do so ASAP.  He needs an accurate count for the Saturday evening dinner and the Monday morning breakfast.  Additionally I need to know how much food to prepare for the Sunday Pool Event.
