It's a Provider's Place a Factor for (Re)Hiring and Rate you're willing to Pay? Or just his Assets and Skills?

Providers with nicer digs make it a more pleasant experience and increase my chances of a repeat call. A shithole won’t get a second chance by me.

Of course, providers who use better hotels increase my chances of a rematch too

It seems completely unrelated, or even possibly the reverse of what I would instinctively think.

The best provider I ever met with was one of the cheapest, and a couple of the worst have been he most expensive.

Sometimes I'm amused by factors that other people find important that don't matter to me at all.  I don't want to walk into a house/apartment/hotel room that stinks, but I couldn't care less whether it's 100% tidy or somewhat cluttered or whether it's a 5-star hotel or a basic motel.

I'm much more concerned about (a) the looks of the guy, (b) the personality of the guy, and (c) his ability to deliver what he advertised.

For visitors, depends whether it’s a repeat.  I never host, so fourth time I met the same guy, he was staying at a downgrade to his usual accommodations.  An older Super 8 motel that had seen better days inside and out, but neighborhood wasn’t too bad. It turned out to be one of my best experiences with him.  Maybe the place gave a certain edge to the meeting. 
 

If it was a first meeting with someone new, I seriously doubt I would have met him there.

I'm one of those gays where my environment and surroundings  are very important to me, which is why I tend have guys come to me.  But if I have a connection / relationship with someone already pre established - then it supersedes my environmental concerns.

Its all about context .

I recently went from staying at a very very nice hotel in Chelsea in London that cost a lot of money, then on the same trip went to staying at a Premier inn on the side a road ( cost around £30 a night - the UK equivalent  of a Super8 motel ) on the same trip.  The room had no air conditioning ( as an American it baffles me that Europeans don't understand air conditioning) , the hot water shower thing didn't work so well, breakfast was awful but the room was clean ( there was daily housekeeping on request) , it did the job.

What made the difference was the people I was with mattered to me, so, the fact that was in a not so great hotel didn't matter. Didn't care - the awfulness of the breakfast in itself became an inside joke / topic of conversation 

That said, if the providers work space bothers you and causes you anxiety, have him come to you.  Once you are comfortable - than I guess go to him, is what I would do.

If his place (I never host) is skeevy or has unsafe parking I may not return, but it would never be something that figures into the amount paid, which is always the amount we set+tip. I have discretion in the tip, and if the environment is super clean and feels tended to, I will add to it there. There is one repeat provider whose home and its work areas are …extra….

I would have phrased the title "Is a Provider's Place...".

In my case I rarely do incalls with providers; I have them come to my upscale hotel where we can be comfortable and enjoy things like great king size beds, marble bathrooms with glass showers, bathtubs etc.

But the odd time I have done incalls when the providers have special features like slings, which are difficult to set up in hotel rooms. Lol.

A provider I saw moved to new building for the last session. It was a 4th floor walkup. His previous building had an elevator. If I hire him again, I either need to be in better shape or use a day hotel room because climbing those stairs killed any chance of good sex on my end. As a person, he is still great.

I can think of a provider - the first time I saw him I hosted in my room at a nice resort in Scottsdale.  We had a great time - one of my best hires of all time.   Next time I saw him, he hosted me at a crumby Travelodge in the Mission district.  As I climbed the stairs, I was kind of annoyed and  thinking that this is not my kind of place.  I knocked on his door, he answered, pulled me inside, gave me a tight hug and a kiss,  and my issues about the place vanished.

Location matters I think. I wouldn’t book a cheap hotel to see a client because it doesn’t fit with my brand (I know it’s pretentious to call it a brand but you know what I mean I hope). I try to provide a quality service and a cheap hotel just wouldn’t fit the experience. My studio where I do in calls is comfortable, clean and tidy. I just couldn’t see clients if there was my day to day stuff lying around. The temperature, lighting, cleanliness, sounds and smells of the room can all add or detract from the overall experience. So for me, it definitely matters.

I’ve done out calls to clients home and there’s been various distractions…froM their dog snoring in the room (or barking outside to try and come in), to their family running around upstairs (yes, really…) to having to remove piles of unwashed clothes from the bed before we used it. Honestly it’s not easy to work in those environments….especially the family upstairs situation. If I’m booked to go back then I make a suggestion that maybe they’d like to visit me instead.

Love that you made a fun and memorable moment out of the Premier~ Life’s just too short and precarious not to laugh about some of it to get your through~ Some pet of life has to be about enjoying it even in the darker moments~

I’ve stayed in fancy hotels and lower end ones~ Some guys like the edge… they don’t like the pomp of fancy digs~ Other guys like the upscale experience: concierge, big breakfast, bellboys… naked bell boys, that sort of thing~ 

 I have hosted in my homes~ I didn’t start doing that until my Wolf companion died in 2014~ I didn’t like being work home to my family environment~ Once he and Raison the Greek kitty died, I began to host~

For some reason I can't help but smile when I read how many shit holes you have visited. I have too, and most, if not all, were wonderful experiences. 😈

I prefer middle of the road hotels with easy parking.  These are typically the hotels where you can park for free and walk right up the elevator, push a button and go without having to swipe a card to get to the room.  If I know the hotel has paid parking 6 blocks from the room with a card key to go up, it might discourage a visit.

I'm not a snob, but it also needs to be North of a Motel 6 or Super 8.  I once made an exception and that was the only escort that ever threatened me.  As a result, I probably draw a correlation between the two, whether reasonable or not.

Finally, the place just has to be clean.  I mean, we all know what they've been doing in there.  Some cleanup is part of the job, IMHO.  I don't want to roll around in someone else's fluids.  If the place is unkempt, I'm immediately concerned that they are not paying attention to basic hygiene.  Yuck!

Even though I can afford a W, I share your preferences for places like that when I travel. Usually Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, or Courtyard by Marriott. All great for hosting on the road, and I can stow my bike in the janitor’s space,
