3.) The Saturday Mall experience

4.) school field trips

5.) The excitement of Christmas and birthdays

6.) My loved ones being younger and alive

7.) Science fairs and spelling bees

8.) Road trips down south.

 

I had a good childhood and am eternally grateful to my parents for that blessing.

 

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that this isn’t a general experience for many, and wasn’t guaranteed either.

The candy counter at Sears. You would walk in and smell the fresh pop corn and roasted nuts. Under the yellow orange display case lights on one side were every sort/ variety of nuts. On the othe side were all of the different types of candy. They would weight your purchase on a white mechanical scale with a stainless steel cone shaped tray, then and pour the contents in a white colored paper bag with the price written in pencil. We would get a small bag of the multi-colored jelly "Swedish fish" candy that was distributed amount my siblings as we were told they were very expensive.

Manhunt, a more intense version of hide and seek that all of the neighborhood kids on the street played. Those were truly the best days of my life.

 

Afterwards, all the teenage boys would sleep over my house and we’d circle jerk. We were the only house with an illegal cable box that got the spice network.

We had cable, but of course that channel was NOT part of our cable package.

I would try to see some naughty bits through the loose scrambling on the channel, but just chose to sneakily “borrow”, my grandfather’s porn collection.

Childhood for me was pretty crap, my parents enrolled me in the local swimming club, one year, I loved it, not to mention the hot guy who I trained with swimmers build, muscles in the right place, and a blulging red speedo.

 

I don’t remember ever getting to see what was in the speedo, certainly no action. The next summer I had a broken arm, and half way thru we moved countries,... I took up swimming again as an adult, swimming laps with eye candy as a bonus

The summers spent with the kids on the block playing baseball, riding bikes, and swimming. Pretty much woke up and went outside and we soon were a group of ten or more ready to play until dark.

Riding bikes with the neighborhood kids all the hell over town. No helmet, no knee pads, no worried parents. Hot and humid or cold and rainy. We were immortal back then.
