Yesterday I went for a 2 mile run and then met two friends for a 4 mile walk around town. Signs of spring everywhere. Like BN, I have kettle bells and other stuff at home and I’m seeing my personal trainer at his garage. Easy to maintain the distance. I’m still getting paleo meals delivered to my house now. Although I gave up alcohol for Lent, I cheated a bit this weekend, but am now back on the wagon. A better question these days concerns our mental health. Avoiding the financial news as much as possible and Zoom get togethers is helping a lot.

I am afraid that staying indoors so much during this time of isolation, (along with the inevitable snacking) is going to turn me into a whale of a guy! May even impact my immune system...

How are you staying in shape with gyms closed and public parks too crowded?

There are a bunch of Instagram celebrities offering advice. And paid coaching. Or maybe join a service for at home exercise like Obe fitness? Some of those guys are really cute too!! ?

I don't like the idea of Peloton which requires expensive equipment and a hefty monthly fee.

I’ve been using YouTube and Vimeo.

Tons of free videos of yoga/Pilates classes, abs classes, body weight classes, and resistance band workouts.

I have a yoga mat, pair of resistance bands, 5lb leg weights and a Swiss ball at home.

I’ve been doing great over the past week.

My Crossfit gym has continued posting workout (the actual gym is closed), including ones that can be done at home with limited equipment. They do Zoom workouts for people to join in, and have assigned coaches to work with members using calls and texts. The last part is really great as the coaches are still getting paid. Some of the coaches are younger and I know this is a needed part of their income.

If anyone is interested, former porn star Tyler Andrews does remote training professionally. He has bulked up a lot since his filming days. I can connect you, PM me.

Since you asked...

I'm quite happy with Future. I have a responsive and truly qualified coach. They require the use of an Apple Watch (they will send you one to use if you don't already have one) to communicate with the Future app on your iPhone, to get real telemetry on how you are doing, so no cheating!

I have been trying to go on long walks in the local parks. Unfortunately, many of the parks are closing their parking lots because they're afraid some people will get together from different households to have picnics or play volleyball, etc. This is really frustrating as one of the few safe and legal ways to keep in shape is being restricted. Of course, this week-end it's raining in the SF Bay Area. :(
