Thanks everyone for a great weekend! It was wonderful to finally put some faces to the monikers. Anyone out there who is on the fence about going next year….just do it! Everyone is super friendly, and the people from the board that you are hesitant about meeting don’t attend anyways. The only hard part was walking in the door at @David-SF’s pool party for the first time on Friday afternoon. Ten seconds later you’re among friends and then it’s a walk in the park.

Frankly I don't think his prices, as the last poster reported, are all that out of line.
The $300 for dinner may account for 2hours of his time, if held at a top notch restaurant. Add the $800 for an additional hour of play and you get $1100. While I've had these sorts of sessions in the last year, in Montreal and Toronto, I've paid $800 for the 3 hours of dinner and play. Not $1100 but in smaller markets than NYC.
Also his $1500 for overnight is typical in our markets in Canada. So again, not out of line. I've paid more in some cases where I threw in dinner and the escort gave 12 hours of his time. A fun time was had by all!

i recently watched this interview yesterday of a straight female escort in nyc and she also insists on having a deposit and even asks for a selfie pic with an ID.  Skip to 11:11 to listen to her stating her reasons for requiring a deposit nowadays.

Remote or in office, client facing or back office, all it takes is one person to find your Twitter, OF/JFF, and bring it to the attention of management.

If you’re going to engage in this  type of side hustle and/or tweet about your boss, and others as he did, you need to make damn sure you’re taking precautions to make sure none of it can be traced back to you. If not, and you behave as cavalierly as this guy did, don’t be surprised if you’re shown the office door.

Doesn’t matter that we live in NYC, it really is a small gay world 😂

Same these last 3 years - unless I knew them before, or they’ve been on a call, they’re just a name on an email address. So like you, if they had an OF/JFF, I wouldn’t have a clue! Now if we’re going to talk about who at work we may wish has an OF/JFF, that’s a different story! 😜

I visited Japan a decade ago while my friend was working there (he spoke English and Japanese) and he told me the only way to visit some of those small gay Japanese bars is to have a local gay Japanese who knows the owner to bring you but that's rare.
There are other gay bars in shinjuku-ni-chome that is welcoming of Americans and westerners though.
    It's a different culture.

Honestly, the people responding to @Jarrod_Uncut with "I'll NEVER make a deposit. I'd rather die than Venmo a provider $25 to hold my spot" are just tedious at this point.
While a few clients on here have had some negative experiences, providers are taking on far more risk than we are. They risk violence, legal action, etc. We risk being out $50 if it falls through.
Also, we all make deposits on services and even sign agreements with other services providers that allow them to charge us if we don't show up for an appointment. And if you're going to claim you've "never done that", you're full of shit.
Lastly, given how much clients talk shit about providers on here, you really don't need to jump on every thread when a provider complains about us.

This is part of their culture.  Respect it.
Same goes for ink when going to onsen.  There are specific onsen for those with tattoos.
As for the Aussies, they are awesome for making rules and sticking to them.  Love that Qantas frequently denies lounge access to people who dress like they're at home on the couch or wearing flip-flops (thongs).
OP is really going to flip when he realizes that there are many gay bars in Tokyo that are not Westerner-friendly.  While they won't directly ask you to leave, they won't exactly be warm and friendly to you either.  Always do your research.

This, 100%! Not only applies to Japan, but it applies to any country you visit. There are 194 other countries outside our borders, many with vastly different social norms, traditions, expectations. Learn them before you go - and if while learning them, you’re not comfortable with them, don’t go. Like I said, there’s 194 other countries to pick from.

Yes, Japan has strict rules regarding tattoos. Their meanings can be far different than that of Europe and the Americas.

In answer to the thread’s title: IMO there’s a very substantial downside.
With my donations, I insist on anonymity. Even with organizations that I enjoy supporting but where they rank donors in ranges (like Carnegie Hall and The Met) I insist as being numbered among the Anonymous.
My reason for being strict is this. Some years ago (post 2008) I gave a lump sum of money to (what was then) a very good theatre with terrific programming. I asked for no publicity. But I later found that their marketing department had shared my contact details with other arts organisations. Six of these knew me as a supporter already and they immediately contacted me, each asking for a similar-sized gift.
My contact details ended up on the marketing lists that many charities and arts organisations exchange. As a result, I received an overwhelming number of requests for financial assistance. I reckon I received about 3 letters a week (along with emails) for some years.

I don't live alone myself. But I do a daily check of my (favorite) elderly neighbors.
I did help save one who fell on the stairs while headed to bed one night and I missed seeing her the next day. She didn't pick up the phone when I called so I contaced the fire department who broke into the house and found her alive but in bad shape, with broken ribs and badly dehydrated.
This is a custom I brought from my childhood where my mother would always check in on all the elderly widows in our neighborhood to see if they needed anything while she was out running errands. I do miss the days when people were more community minded.
I did lose one friend who had become a bit of a recluse in his late 50s. Like @Guy Fawkeshe lived alone and didn't keep up with many friends or family. Sadly he was discovered by a neighbor who saw him slumped over in a chair (writing at his desk as he always was) in the evening and again the following morning. She realized it was too many hours to be sleeping like that. I was supposed to be having breakfast with him that morning but he never showed up. Very sad.
We are only blessed that these people leave the fruits of their work behind and in that way we gladly memorialize their passing and thank them for giving us these gifts to enjoy.
    Rest in Peace

As we approach the 2nd Anniversary of @Guy Fawkes passing it’s a good time to ask yourself the question: If anything happened to me, who would know?
@Guy Fawkes lived alone. No neighbor or friend knew he was in need of help. After not hearing from him for a couple of days, the police were called to do a Wellness Check. Sadly, he was found on the floor barely alive and, a month later, passed away
The outcome might have been different had he been found sooner. For those of you who live alone do you have a contact person who would realize something might be wrong if they didn’t hear from you? If there is one thing we can learn for this loss its the importance of having that contact person.
    RIP: @Guy Fawkes
