At this rate, y’all are going to get to a point where you reach a stalemate and no one communicates with anyone else. Geez 

On tour, I might consistently do 6 a day. In my home city, more like 2-4 per day. Sometimes zero, sometimes 6. It varies a lot. 4 on average after a year or two of building up a more consistent client base. I don’t even want to try cities in the Midwest heartland areas. If it’s as bad as your experiences tend to be on a regular basis, I wouldn’t want to go try scouting there.
Low ballers: thank you, next. Politely hold to my rates and move on. I don’t attempt to engage.
Flakes: unavoidable, just part of the biz. I focus on filling my schedule with as many regulars and repeats as possible so there is less time for bad actor newbies to potentially waste my time by filling up my schedule then not showing. Some communicate regarding a true emergency and will reschedule. Some are jerks and I maintain a one strike policy for those types.
A4A: I’ve had some success using it. A lot less than the usual places, but plenty of clients find my pro ad and contact me. Very few try to waste my time asking for freebies or hookups because the ad is clearly labeled “pro” and the content is descriptive enough. A good chunck of A4A inquiries are serious. Lots of requests for rates, but only some of those book. Just how it goes.
Uncooperative clients: I set boundaries and say I need to know by x time if you’re committed to y appointment and whatever we discussed. I’m available from a to b. I will be busy from c to d, but I will get back to you asap if you catch me when I am working. When they don’t respond, won’t commit or whatever, I move on. No waiting around for those who won’t respect me or my time.
Late night, last minute requests: I reject them, state my open hours and tell them my new late night policy, which is they must book 24 hrs in advance if they want an early or late appointment outside my normal hours. On tour, I might relax this policy somewhat.
I keep growing a thicker skin every day. Instead of complaining and lamenting, I move on to the next thing, work related or otherwise. I lack the emotional energy to care as much as I used to. Yes, I get frustrated, but I don’t let it get to me as much as I used to. I have my moments.

1) school is back in session. Your teachers (or people with kids) have less time to hire. Their weekends may be strained too. 
 
2) inflation and economic uncertainty. With inflation being high, people are starting to pull back on luxury services - do I really need to see that provider?
Usually I say things slow down in the summer and pick up in fall before the holidays, but there’s a general uncertainty about EVERYTHING in the economy right now. No one knows if rates will continue to rise, or if the fed will drop them. No one knows if we are headed towards a recession. No one knows if mass layoffs will happen. No one knows anything and they’re holding on to their money right now. 

I understand the agreement,  but I'll never understand why clients "require" that a provider comes. There's too many factors beyond everyone's control.
I'd say offer a decent tip if they come. Nobody would agree to an hour of work where they might not get paid.

I personally get anxiety about this. I generally don't have a problem reaching climax but when anxious it's nearly impossible. So I admit I've faked a few orgasms but the other person always knows. However, I have never been paid to cum before.

That's cool that you're able to explore an area of sexuality with your client and are willing to see how it goes.  Dom/sub roleplay can be more challenging for both sides than some people realize, and it helps to have a mindset open to the demands of each role.
It really helps to have some experience with the other person beforehand, too.  At minimum a chance to meet and discuss expectations and boundaries.  
I hope you continue to have some good sessions with this client, and pick up some skills you can use with other clients in the future.  I believe the best doms have experience on the sub side, so you may find that plays well with your Type A personality in the future.

So I have a client that had encouraged me to play the role of a sub during my bookings with him.    He isn't a new client and I knew he had previous relationships that could best be described as  Dom/ Sub.
He wanted to know if I would be comfortable with the role of "sub"  for our encounters.   I am vers in many ways,  but I  wasn't sure if I could pull it off.    I'm a Type A personality,  dynamic and am used to taking the initiative in most situations.    No,  not much like a sub.      But part of being a good escort is the ability to change up and explore new avenues so I said I'd do it.

As @Jamie21 has said before, you begin to recognize patterns. The majority of times, testers are looking for a warm body to talk to, not an actual appointment. So I’ll engage them for a bit, but once I realize it’s going nowhere, I’ll wrap it up or stop responding.

What on earth are you sending 20-25 text messages about? I do not believe for a second that you are sending a provider 20-25 messages to book an appointment. There’s no way! I would be embarrassed and I’d feel like a nuisance doing that. It reminds me of that movie Swingers where he calls the girl that he likes and leaves her like 12 messages for something he could’ve easily said in the first one…..and she tells him never to call again.

Working their other jobs that pay them, studies if they’re in school, activities and hobbies that they are passionate about, spending time with their friends or family members, working out to stay in shape, working on their goals, etc.

If it feels natural, you do it. 
PDA shouldn't be performative.  That's just uncomfortable (gay or straight). A good escort can both read the room and his client.  
I'd feel odd discussing PDA as a bullet point before meeting someone, unless it was the sole reason they were hiring me.

Main answer being that RM is terrible. RM messenger is only marginally better.
