MscleLovr got a reaction from xyz48B in Hugh Hefner's Playboy Bunnies' heartbreaking confessions - from abuse to humiliating sex rituals
I really don’t want to think of him as a “member of our tribe”. I much prefer to see him as a raging heterosexual who slept with a lot of pretty, stupid and greedy women.

I haven't been to PV for a few years, but during my many previous visits I think the biggest problem is not encountering escorts. By that I mean it's difficult to interact with locals and then not find yourself after a few minutes with someone who is expecting that your friendliness is going to lead to a money making situation for themselves. I'd say that the vast majority of "working men" there don't advertise. They just work the beach, some bars, strip clubs (of course) and the "gayborhood" in general. Many even speak English well enough that you can negotiate what you want even if you don't speak Spanish well enough to have a meaningful conversation.

Wait I can't make assumptions about people I haven't met, movies I haven't seen, books I haven't read, and places I haven't visited? When the fuck did that happen?

Didn't Liberace's lover get plastic surgery at Liberace's request to make him look more like Liberace did in his younger days? Similarly, hasn't Calvin Klein required some of his high profile boyfriends to get "work done?" Sure, maybe the number of men willing to put up with nonsense like that is smaller but it isn't unheard of.

More likely.....
Some of Calvin's "boyfriends" have had work done in a delusional attempt to retain their position as Calvin's "boyfriend".
I don't see Calvin "requiring" anyone to do anything.
You joined the circus. Don't act surprised when you have to have to shovel the elephant shit.

I like sex in daylight too. My favorite times are morning -that’s when I am at my horniness peak- and afternoon.
Of course, I don’t refuse evening or night sex. In fact, I never refuse sex at any time.

I had a gorgeous NYC-based regular named “Dylan” around 2004-2005. He moved in with a Wall Street mogul in his senior year of high school. It lasted about 18 months. The financier gave him a $100k severance package and paid the rent for a 3-year lease in an Upper East Side studio. They parted on excellent terms. There’s a smart way to conclude these flings.

You’re right @purplekow that is the easy option. I find it intriguing, however, that so rarely does the older man do that once the relationship turns sour.
In this regard, I think especially of the ex-chief of BP, John Browne. Shortly before he was due to retire from BP, news emerged in the media of his escort-boyfriend. The young man had returned to Canada and being short of funds, he was interested in the offer by a major newspaper to pay for his ‘story’. Instead of helping him, Browne took legal action to prevent publication. In the course of this, Browne was found to have lied to the Court. He had to resign in disgrace from various boards, forfeited millions in stock options and bonus pay from BP etc. Yet if he had helped the young man to make a new life in Canada (by renting an apartment for him, giving him an allowance for a year, paying his tuition fees etc), it would have cost him only a few thousand.

Again, thinking back to my late teens/early 20s, I was encouraged to enjoy alcohol with food and in the company of others. So for me, alcoholism is not just drinking to excess but also connoted by drinking in secret, drinking alone, drinking instead of eating etc

Which is why I asked @MscleLovr a few posts back “ how do you know…” someone is an alcoholic.
I submit that is you haven’t been through an addiction recovery process yourself or with a loved one…or you’re a professional. You just can’t tell…

Fair question @MikeBiDude Over the years, I’ve known several as acquaintances and socially met a couple. A few have confided in me and I’ve witnessed the messy behavior of others. I know it’s an addiction but I just do not want to be involved with them.

It may be the one thing they save for their private lives. If it’s essential, don’t expect, just ask.

I agree with @augustus but I simply avoid spending any time with alcoholics.
As to the other behavior cited by the OP, I’m grateful now that the maxim “moderation in all things” was drummed into me by my old-fashioned parents.
It was also lucky for me that (with them being quite middle-aged when I was born) their habits became ingrained in me: eating regular meals at the dining table, no eating between meals, a healthy diet of fish, meat, fruit and vegetables with sugary items being limited, and no eating outside the house except in proper restaurants.
As the sage writer on food, Michael Pollan advised “eat only food that your grandmother would recognize”.
