I hired Jason Ridge for a milestone birthday of mine back when he was just starting out.  And then played around with him a couple of more times.  Kind, sexy, sweetheart of a man.  We had A LOT of fun together. 

Consider that a masseur’s pricing is his way of screening out clients who are not the kind he wants, and to limit the number of bookings he has to fit his capacity. 
You might look at his ad, pics etc and say he’s pushing it. That’s his intention - he’s screened you out without even having to handle your enquiry. 
There’s loads of potential clients who want to pay a lot less than £130 or so a hour for a sensual massage. Or even pay nothing…just look at the numbers looking for ‘massage exchange’ where they expect a massage for free in exchange for giving one back. That end of the market is big. 
One could fish there for business by setting a lower rate but you’d get all sorts of time wasters, cheap clients and those who know the price of everything but the value of nothing. I certainly don’t want those kind of clients. If they do somehow contact me their first question is often “do you do discounts?” or “what’s your best rate?”. Those clients don’t get to book.
When I first started I had an enquiry from a client who asked about my rate. He said he really wanted to book but my hour rate was too much for him and would I discount? He said he’d “definitely become a regular” (a common phrase used by such clients by the way). I declined to discount it so he went away….for a week..and then asked again. Same response “no discount, sorry”. Eventually he agreed to the rate and booked an hour.
 I was surprised that he actually turned up on the day, but he did…and had the massage, which he said he enjoyed. I always ask for payment afterwards and at this point he says “oh I’ve only got £x on me, is that ok?”. I said “no, we agreed £y but I’ve a card reader so you can pay the balance (about 40% short of the agreed rate) by card”. He said “he didn’t want the transaction appearing on his account”. He then promised to pay the balance next time or to do a bank transfer when he got home. I declined that and told him I’d walk him to the cashpoint where he’d draw the balance and pay me. That’s what we eventually did. Total waste of time. 
Lesson learned: never book ‘low rent’ clients.

I rarely get massages in spas. When I have, however, they have been strictly therapeutic. Similarly to what was previously mentioned, the vast majority of independent masseurs I have hired didn't drape. Some offered, and I declined. I don't remember the last time I was draped. The majority of these masseurs also provided a sensual/erotic experience without me asking. I've hired guys with masseurfinder ads that focused on their training and professionalism and included pics of them in scrubs who I assumed would be strictly therapeutic but ended up being quite interactive. I've also hired guys who had ads that I believed hinted at extras (e.g., showing off body in pics, checking "sensual" on rentmasseur) but provided none.  I just go with the flow and, at a minimum, hope for a good massage.
Most M4M masseurs know that many, if not most, of their male clients would welcome an HE. If the masseur offers no evidence that extras are an option, I tend to not try to test his boundaries. I recognize, however, that I might have missed some opportunities with this approach.

This last post reminded me of Jason Ridge in Los Angeles. Man, that guy was hot!

Just a reminder to draw the line on believing (at face value) that the line between paid time and voluntary/unpaid time is blurred. And a provider who is good at his job in other ways will be convincing if making you believe it’s all because you are turning him on and giving him genuine pleasure. 
One of my earliest experiences in the space had me overwhelmed from the time, the provider sensed that and asked me as I was getting ready to leave if I wanted to stay for a while, as he wanted to teach me things, I was so hot but I didn’t know how to use it etc. he saw a young version of himself in me etc. I laughed and said I had no money and he replied “I guess you better be leaving then”.  I walked out feeling like I’d been made fun of, in a daze. 

10 mins later he texted saying he was already missing me, I should come back .. I again replied I couldn’t pay more .. he then writes something ambiguous like “who can put a price on passion when it’s real, come back because I really need you right now, I need it more than you do etc”- or maybe not so ambiguous … anyway cut to the chase - a very bad financial experience by the end of the evening
 
My defense mechanism kicks in early now when people try that, which is quite regularly.
 

there are very few escorts who attempt to screen clients based on looks and/or how sexually attractive a potential client may be.  if you get that vibe in any way - go the other way & cross that provider off your list.  It’s not a sustainable business model for the provider and just shows they aren’t professional and probably haven’t been around very long.   The sex would probably be bad too.
In some circumstances, I could see the provider asking for a pic after a meeting is setup, just as a security measure & not as a way to screen clients.  I frequently choose to send a face pic as an introduction if I don’t know the provider - only to show that I’m serious, a real person and not wasting his time.  My sense is providers are inundated with anonymous requests & questions from guys that have no intention of an actual hire. A voluntary face pic seems to cut through the clutter on the providers end.  It works for me.
No provider is out of your league.  Go for it. 

Can't help but reply with the provider perspective here.  I feel like the provider/client relationship is meant to be the great equalizer.  It's the job of any provider- once you're in a room alone together - to make you feel like a king.  For the entirety of your time together.  Regardless of what the outside world my say about who is in whose league.  If you ask me, that's the entire point of an escort situation: for two men to be able to set aside their outside world expectations and walk a different path together. 
I find it to be one of the most freeing aspects of this kind of work.  Our culture - especially gay culture - imposes a lot of false assumptions on us.  Who has value to offer sexually.  Who should be fucking who.  An escort/client relationship - at its best - has been the most freeing way I've found to step outside of that and enjoy a connection with all types of men. 
If you walk away from an experience with a provider still feeling like he's out of your league, I'd say that provider has failed you. 

It happens. I've seen providers with many good reviews have to take breaks for personal, mental, or drug issues that were interfering with their escorting abilities.  This could be any of the above.

It’s harder to find, but some masseurs are equally excellent at therapeutic massage, eroticism, and sex work - and balance all of those well. I am one of them. I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting @Jamie21 yet, but from what I know from the forums, I am sure he is too.
My major point of difference is not what I am willing to do, or for whom, but what you’re paying for the level of service you want. You don’t have to choose between good massage or sex work. You can have it all! At least with me. The key is finding the right provider for your particular needs, and communicating your needs. Also key is valuing the services appropriately and paying for them appropriately. Best to book ahead when you want more.
Expecting someone to give away a more valuable service for free or at a discount will leave most of you disappointed most of the time. You will hear stories of freebies on these forums all the time because those are the most memorable and exciting stories to tell. The day-to-day reality is not like that at all.
It’s not about the way you look, either. I serve everyone. Young, old, fit, out of shape, differently abled people, more attractive people, less attractive people, and so on. The other day, I told a client I was really into that he would need to pay my respective rates if he wants me to top him. That’s how it works, no matter who you are.
Other providers will vary. Many of them cherry pick clients and what they will do with whom, but those are not the best guys to hire anyhow. They don’t understand how this business works, and they won’t last. Or it’s not their main source of income and can afford to not take it seriously.
I must have stamina then. I might average more like 3 per day, but it varies. On my busiest days, I will do 5 or 6 per day, no problem. I max out at six. It also just depends on the services clients are booking and for how long. Yesterday, for example, I had a three hour appointment, and still had two other clients, one before and one after and each of those was over 90 mins. That’s quite a full day seeing only three, so I hear your point.
Sometimes I have 5-6 clients per day for weeks at a stretch depending on if I am traveling to other cities for work or if it’s a busy season. The thing is, a client has no idea of my schedule or how busy I am on a given day, and honestly they don’t care anyway. Money aside, it’s unreasonable for a client to expect or request me to perform at an escort level with no notice and for the same fee. Just from a practical perspective, I can’t do it. And again, it has nothing to do with the way the client looks. This is my job. Not a hookup app with money changing hands.
I have a fee schedule for clients who specifically want a fantasy massage / escort combination service. You get anything and (pretty much) everything you want on the sex side, AND plenty of quality legit massage therapy time. You pick the total time to fit your needs and your budget, and bingo. Get it all. Pay equitably for it. Everybody is happy. Here’s that, for reference:
