No I don’t agree. Some guys are really anxious to go to a bath house (sauna) alone. They want someone to go with who will show them how to behave there and who they can walk around with to get comfortable.
If you’re exploring your sexuality or if you’re not conventionally good looking (or you think you aren’t attractive) then bath houses can be intimidating. It’s therefore helpful to have someone who will accompany you and spend time with you there to build your confidence. I’ve arranged quite a lot of sessions at bath houses with my clients. I think in @ThrowawayAccount’s situation he didn’t get a very empathetic provider. I see guys regularly checking out my profile, not daily but very often, and they never make contact to book or ask questions. It is strange but I don’t mind. Not "straight" here...but this is how it is for me and my wife. We are both bisexual and have an understanding that extra curricular same-sex activity allows us to satisfy our diverse sexual interests but engaging in outside heterosexual activity would feel like "cheating". I realize this sounds a little fucked up, and maybe the logic is difficult to understand but we BOTH feel strongly about the matter. And we both (to the best of my knowledge) have always respected that agreement since we married 20 years ago. 

I think situational horniness is more prevalent than just in jail.  When I was in a geographically isolated prep school (back in the Truman administration), I'd venture that most roommates frequently jerked off together and often gave each other a hand, so to speak.  I'd also venture that half of them sucked their roommate's dick from time to time (sometimes infrequently, sometimes daily or more).  Nobody thought it was gay or embarrassing, though it was rarely spoken about.  Only anal was gay.  The joke we used to tell each other was "How do you know your roommate is gay?  Because his dick tastes like shit."
